That pretty much is the definition of criminally negligent homicide

No charges were filed?  No arrest warrant ? No grand jury?

Made me want to reach in that video and pop that lady. Unfortunately I'm afraid this isn't uncommon. Many years ago as my uncle was near his end from cancer he was transferred from a hospital to one of these places. My wife, kids, and I were on vacation and went to see him. My daughter was only 11 and my son was 6. We had them stay in the waiting area as my wife and I visited my uncle and aunt who stayed with him. It was very traumatic for me as he had always been a strong, muscular man who I idolized as a kid. He had served 4 years in the Marines in Korea, come home and worked hard all his life in the Oil industry raising my cousins. He was down to maybe 90 lbs. at this time. He mind was still pretty good and he still had a lot of fight in him. He was looking forward to improving enough to be able to get out of there and go home. After our visit and we had got the kids and we're heading back to the hotel, my daughter started telling my wife about a nurse that was asking her why they were in the waiting area. She told her they were waiting for us and the name of my uncle. The nurse started to run down my uncle and say he wasn't going to be around much longer. My daughter said she was very mean. My daughter had never even met my uncle but she was distraught over the way this lady talked about him. I whipped the car around and went back. Found my aunt and told her. She already had suspicions of them. She never left his side unless one of my cousins was there to relieve her.

In retrospect I realize they were not nurses at all, but probably caregivers making $10 an hour. But I have no sympathy for anyone being mean and heartless to helpless people. I'm with Evan, why are they not charged with a crime ?

My wife got much the same worthless care earlier this year in a local skilled(?) nursing facility. Last Nov. 30, I had a hip replaced and was still a bit wobbly on my feet, using a cane constantly. Two weeks following my surgery, my wife fell at home, landed on her right shoulder breaking it in two places. I was in no shape to tend to her every need so after she spent four days in the hospital, she was admitted to a nearby nursing facility for the next two months. What a disaster that was! A number of times she called me at home, asking me to contact the front desk or the nurses station so someone would answer her call button. It was not unusual for her to wait over an hour for a response, and then it was often with some curt attitude and answers. They would complain to her about messing her bed, she'd tell them if they would only answer the call button it would't happen. I usually went up there twice a day but never at the same time, that tended to keep them off-guard and I could tell it PO'd the staff. Most nights before I left, I'd have to remake her bed, help her to the bathroom one last time, often help her clean up a little. She was so frail(still is at 81 lbs. fully dressed), at that time she had to learn to walk all over again after being bedridden for a few weeks. One afternoon while I was there she had some lady friends visiting and she mentioned about one nurse she had an exchange with earlier. I asked a few questions and she finally told me what had happened....I blew a gasket. I walked down to the nurses station and addressed the supervisor in something more than a "quiet undertone" and let him know if that woman EVER darkened my wife's door again, I'll fire every one of you because you'll be working for me when I'm done with this outfit. That nurses station is at a junction of three hallways and it's quite busy and somewhat noisy. Suddenly, everything stopped moving, you could hear a pin drop so I took that moment to name names. The nurse was let go but half the staff should have been let go with her. The care my wife got was useless, degrading at best, demeaning of the spirit of a woman known for her sweet and gentle persona.

I finally had things arranged for some home health care such as physical and occupational therapy, at home nursing care as needed, etc., so advised the nursing facility I was removing her by noon on Feb. 27. In the days prior I removed all her clothes which I had kept washed and ironed so she could at least feel a little refreshed, left her with one set of clothing for the trip home. The previous 2-3 weeks I had been taking her out in the car for a few hours if the weather was nice, she was thrilled to get some fresh air....something the facility wouldn't do. Sometimes I'd just wheel her out into the courtyard and sit with her on one of their park benches. Well, when I told the staff she was leaving by noon on Feb. 27, I was reminded of all the various papers needing signing and the time it would take to get it all together. I reminded them they had been given a ten day notice but come that day, they had done nothing in preparation. At 11:30am that day I was wheeling my sweetie down the hallway toward the exit and they took notice....finally. I reminded them of the 10 day notice I'd given and kept wheeling, finally stopping when my wife asked me to wait until high noon as that's the time I'd first stated she was leaving. In the last 15 minutes prior to noon that day, they accomplished what should have been done days earlier. We strolled/rolled out of there three minutes before noon on Feb. 27 and never looked back. Now I know why my dad made my sister sign a contract before giving her the house he lived in. She was an RN and my dad said he would give her and her husband the house on two conditions; they were to never encumber the house while he was still alive, and they were never to put him in a nursing home. Now I understand fully!

In the end, we were billed for over $8k they said our insurance didn't cover. I checked with my insurance and found all had been taken care of, we didn't owe them a dime. I was threatened with being sued so I suggested I would be happy to send them a copy of a small portion of what they had done those two months and reminded them it would all come out in court and the local media. Strange....haven't heard from them since and it's not on our credit file.
