Still running against the wind

Winnipeg, Mb Canada

« on: October 14, 2018, 08:06:02 AM »

Another new guy question.
I have a 98 Tourer. Want to get a better seat. Pretty much settled on the Ultimate seat but not sure which one. Im 6'1" 190lbs. I feel like i wanna be lower 'into' the bike and farther from handlebars an inch ish.
Do I want the Big Boy or Lowrider seat? Feels like the big biy is the right one but dont wanna be higher up. Does it really make much difference?
Thoughts anyone?

have u considered the '00+ OEM seat?  $100 fantastic seat, and I use sheep skin cover to make it even better.

I’m 6’ 200lbs, I bought the Big Boy per the specs on the website. It does make you sit higher and more “on” the bike rather than “in” it. Felt like I was sliding forward on braking too. Line of sight was definitely higher above the windshield than stock.

I sat on a Lowrider at Inzane and loved it, felt more locked into the bike. Might not be as cushy as the Big Boy, but I liked it better.  I would have traded if I’d have found someone willing.

Just my 2 cents, YMMV.

Thank you for the info. Gonna try the newer seat. Looks like what im after and price is right. Canadian dollar makes everything much more expensive but even $170ish after exchange and shipping is worth it.
Bikes in hibernation now till April anyway.

I've put 70k on the newer OEM seat I like the changes they made.

I'm 6' riding a 98 Tourer.

I agree here. At 6'2" Big boy seat is uncomfortable at red lights, and stops. Bike does not handle as well in any situation because of the higher center of gravity in my experience. Other than that it is ok, just wish it sat lower.

If you happen to be in Calgary before the snow flies again, feel free to get in touch and you can try out my 2000 Tourer seat.  It has a small gash in the vinyl so it's sitting on my shelf unused right now, but it would be fine for testing its comfort.

Is the Part number 77200-MZO A80 the right OEM seat to fit a 1998 tourer?  I  would like to get one of those seats.

Over the last 3 years you guys have helped me a lot.  Want to say thanks.
