Craigslist Deal of the Week

This is something that is done in another forum I frequent and I thought it might be entertaining here. I don't believe it should run afoul of forum rules but if it does I apologise in advance.

To remain within the forum rules don’t post your own ad or someone’s that you know. This is not an endorsement of any motorcycle and is for informational and entertainment purposes only.

This can be a fun thread. It gives a lot of insight about regional pricing and condition. Plus, who doesn't want to look at pictures of Valkyries?

I will start with this one.

does not list mileage, but this is local no idea who owns it since never seen it driving around, but for 4500 for an I/S looks pretty sweet identical to mine.

https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/mcy/d/2000-honda-valkyrie-1998/6715807650.html

Makes me sad though thinking my black I/S is only worth 5-6k top end not likely to part with it for much under 7K though so guess will keep it awhile longer until the upswing of pricing ever hits when in 10 more years it becomes an instant classic collector bike, or so I hope?

I frequent craigslist way too much but deals are to be had usually trying not to get burned on something.

I've been talking to my wife about this Valkyrie for sale in Cincinnati for a week.  She keeps laughing and telling me to look in the garage.  Where is it going to fit.  That may be so, but it is a great looking Valkyrie.  It is also listed in our classified ads on this site.  I've been wanting to add a black tour to the collection but a second garage may have to come first.

Thats alot of bike for $4500. If its done properly (and that one appears to be) the HD hardware looks good on these bikes.

I too think that is a good buy especially with speakers and batwing fairing and HD looking side bags, definitely one of a kind, plus low mileage and appears to be in very good shape.

I looked at and test drove a black from what I thought was an I/S but actually a stock Valk converted into an I/S with tourer bags but had the batwing black fairing on it thinking it would be nicer than it was.  Radio did not work and faded batwing fairing, plus other items not good shape, so passed did not want to insult him offering  2500 tops when he was asking 4K which at the time thought was a good deal.

Yah never know until you go see it though.  I seen a car on craigslist locally GREAT buy at 8.5K most others in that year/mileage are going for 14K, so have emailed him wanting to look at it ASAP and yet still NO response.  Must be something wrong with it being so cheap??  but never know???  My guess is flood damage or AWD does not work or engine burns oil?

anyone want to imitate a black/orange HD?  This one just popped up, sort of unique one of a kind paint scheme being for HONDA but not for HD:  Price is reasonable for sure I wonder whomever buys it will wonder when asked by other when HD made such a bike?

https://madison.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1999-honda-gl1500cf-valkyrie/6733930361.html

I sort of (well maybe?) like it though but wife said NO,  5 cycles in garage is enough for now.

It astounds me that there are still so many bikes out there with under 30,000 miles on them.
Always liked the pewter and green Interstates.

It is rare.  Honda didn't use pewter on as many of these bikes as one might have thought.  I'm not certain that's entirely practical.

She's preparing to be painted.  I got to thinking it may be a waste.  It may not be the color.  Those are the only three Interstates I've had in my stables.  Scott told me a long time ago that I couldn't be trusted with an Interstate.   Wink

So given that thought process, when performing a root cause analysis then that ultimately brings us not to the color of the bike or it's make or model. If we take YOU out of the equation none of the accidents would have happened. Hmmmmmm Shocked

This is the time of the year to buy.

1998 Tourer with 7,900 miles $3,500. (THEY CHANGED THE MILEAGE, NOW ITS 63,000)

https://denver.craigslist.org/mcd/d/1998-honda-valkyrie-super/6734082977.html

You have to keep in mind that these are all asking prices.  It definitely is a buyers market.

I head to Nebraska tomorrow to pick up my new to me one owner 1999 interstate with 6,700 miles. They were asking $5,500. Due to the distance I offered much less, and they accepted.

congrats on that steal of a deal for an I/S less than 8K miles and under 5500.  Sure hope the pics, etc. are legit and you did not drive or fly all that way for nothing.  I have had pics look decent but once there,  not so much, been there, done that.....

Cookiedough,

Luckily, the bike was exactly as described, a couple small scratches on the bags, but no evidence that it was ever dropped or dumped. Although it is a bit dirty because it has not been cleaned in a year or so. The only issue that I was surprised about was the tires, the lady selling it said she knew her deceased husband put new tires on it recently, but did not know when.  After checking the date codes, they show to be about 5-6 years old.

But, all in all, it runs and handles like a new bike, I got real lucky, it could have been a 18 hour goose chase. .

or this one nearby LaCrosse WI at a dealership even.  Thinking this is a very good price for a dealership with upgraded seat, windshield, and side bags.  I bet the dealership fees though will ad to that price by 300-400 bucks more profit for them?

https://www.2brotherspowersports.com/Pre-owned-Inventory-2014-Honda-Motorcycle-Scooter-Gold-Wing-Valkyrie-2Brothers-Powersports-5954668?ref=list

7800 for a 2014 stripped down goldwing  same engine/tranny with some extras is hard to pass up so hard to fatham many would give 6500 or so for a 2001 Valkyrie say I/S model, right?

Two questions:  1) Do stock exhaust fit all models of Valks?  Sounds like these may be off a standard, looking for a set for my I/S.  2) Has anyone shipped a complete exhaust system?  Any estimate of shipping costs?

Thanks,

Only difference between models were the tips. Looks like truck stacks have been added to those. Only question is if they modified them at all which can affect sound. Many times I have seen glass pack mods with the truck stacks. Hopefully the owner can tell you if they are stock or modified.

Sorry not sure on shipping but likely pricy due to length.

I sold my stock exhaust and shipping ended up being close to 100 bucks with ups. Wrapped them in bubble wrap and then put in a box.

Seller said the rear baffles were removed with the truck stacks installation. He replaced these pipes for 6-6 Cobras. Louder now and worse fuel mpg.
