I think cruise control on a cycle is one of those options that if you never had it, you would never (or should I say rarely) miss it, but once you get it, you HAVE to have it from now on.
Similar to the wife's SUV she said next vehicle has to have heated seats, preferably in cloth. I do not care much for heated seats feels good for first 10-20 minutes of driving when cold out, but after that I have to shut them off since even on low setting is not ideal for me at least.
Remember the good old days when even power brakes/steering were an option? I thought it was cool to get my first hand me down old brothers car with cruise control in 1978, but still had crank windows unfortunately. Give me pwr windows and seat, cruise, a/c, backup camera comes in handy, radio, tilt/telescopic wheel, and I am good to go all I need in a vehicle. Nowadays most 2018 and newer 2019 more so vehicles have standard lane departure assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring. I say if it gives me a discount in auto insurance rates, the near 1K extra base msrp price built into the std. price for such gadgets, will help offset insurance costs over time.
If any of those features allows you to avoid an accident, you've at least saved your $500 deductible as well.

Here is another Metric Bike that has been totally ignored by the V-Twin crowd....Very nice handling bike, powerful(101hp) with tractor like torque(124Ft Lb.) way down at 2200 RPM. A Lower C of G than most Cruiser type bikes including the Valk. I had two of them...never had any issues with either. Much better mileage than my Interstate. This was an iron butt capable bike with the right seat. Problem was, I needed a 2-up touring bike with a better pillion seating space. I could never find a proper touring pillion so it had to go. I would buy another in a New York Second if Mama decided to fold up the riding jacket. Maxxed Out Customs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIuImL6neBI&feature=youtu.behttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjtmLT3egaAAlmost Stock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZhx1u6zjPsShield, Bags and Sissy bar were all Quick De-Mount for easy clean-up.

I looked into the Stratoliner and Roadliner before I bought the Valkyrie, but the internet can scare you if you let it. I read pages of transmission failure posts (3rd gear, mostly) that cost 3-4K to fix, with the same parts being installed.
I can't say that I'm unhappy with my decision.

Yep...the 2006(first model year) had bikes with the problem. Yamaha did do a replacement gear with an updated part #. There were also bikes with an issue Re:hydraulic lifters. I belonged to the Delphi Strat/Roadliner Site and there were a few bikes with these 2 issues that showed up. Overall...it's an easy bike to maintain...no belt drive issues...F-brakes are 4 piston calipers for way above(for cruisers) average stopping power. Hard cornering, because of geometry needed more input than the Valk but was easy to ride compared to most other V-Twins I have ridden. I owned a Vulcan Classic 1600 for a year...got rid of it!!...poor handling when pushed near the limit, poor braking...and disappointing power as well. No way the Liners are as bullet proof as the GL1500 bikes, but still a very long term engine/final drive bike with a low cost Gates drive belt replacement after about 80-100K miles. If I could afford the insurance and garage space I would like to have both bikes.

If you liked the paint you could buy that just for the painted tins, put your stockers back on it and still turn a profit.

Yes, they are simply hinged differently.

Yes, they are simply hinged differently. Also, the std/tourer bags have seams running around the midline of the bags and the interstate bags do not. Not a big deal (but a cleaner look). And, if you need interstate lid cable ties instead of std/tourer hinges (so the lids will open if you've added a big trunk to your std/tourer, which hinged lids may not clear and only open a few inches before hitting the bottom of the truck) you will need '99 or later bags (or bag lids), so they have the hardware bosses (screw holes) to tie the interstate cables to the inside of the lids properly. Also, even without a big truck, if traveling with a big duffel bag across your luggage rack, hinged lids may not open without pulling the duffel first, but IS bags with cables can always open. Disclaimer: This bag lid was introduced with the (new) '99 interstate, but I am not sure if the std/tourer lids adopted them in '99 or '00. At some point (either '99 or '00), all the lids were the same. This might have even been a mid year deal too. This is important to keep in mind, because just finding the proper lids (alone) can get very expensive, so it's best to get a set of bags with the lids you want all at the same time. There's also like 17 tiny parts to order, one by one, to convert from hinges to cable ties, so if you need cables, it's better to get them when you buy the bags, if you can.

It was my experience that Interstate bags would fit without issue on a Tourer with no modifications due to the way the lids lifted off to accommodate a trunk (that a Tourer does not have) .
To put Tourer bags on an Interstate (or a Tourer with a trunk I suppose) does require hinge changes to clear the trunk.

This is exactly correct. I did my brothers lids on his tourer becaused he added a trunk. All we did was replace the hinges and cables so they lift off instead of hinge up. Think we had 30 bucks in new hinges and cables.

Ad says 17,000 miles but has 22,000 miles in the pictures. Still a good deal on a low mileage bike if it runs well.

I post this with hesitation, mainly because I will be selling an Interstate this spring. I only hope this is a winter sale price, and not a sign of the continuing fall of the value of our beloved Valkyries. Someone buy it quick to get it off the net. lol 2000 Interstate with 37,000 miles in Arkansas $3,900https://fayar.craigslist.org/mcy/d/paris-honda-valkyrie-interstate/6806439606.htmlJim

Sorry Jack, my wife has a noose around part of my anatomy since I bought the 2nd one in November, and to be honest, I happen to like that part of me, so I will not buy a third bike to flip. (at least one that is so far away!)
