So many colors to choose from yet so few stand out

Covington, TN

« on: January 11, 2020, 07:23:25 PM »

NOTICE II:  As of this afternoon, The Mississippi Department of Health has made several recommendations, in response to that, the Mayor of Hattiesburg has ordered several types of businesses shut down and gatherings of 10 people or more is outlawed and subject to legal ramifications.   Based on this dis-heartening news, the Hattiesburg group has decided to cancel this event and try again after the Pandemic is over.   Maybe in the Fall or next Spring.   If you have reservations at Ground Zero, you should probably make that call.

Ride and Stay Safe.

Rams

NOTICE:  Due to the current Corona Virus Pandemic guidelines and concerns, the Hattiesburg Hosting Group is Canceling the BBQ scheduled for 17 April.   The "Ride" event is still on and we should practice "Social Distancing" but, that could change depending on how things work out.   We are a motorcycle group and should be fine as long as we follow good "Social Distancing", hand washing and other recommended practices.   That last statement is my opinion.

This is an open invitation to all, regardless of what two, three or four wheeler you use.

Several of us in the Hattiesburg, MS vicinity have been meeting and decided to host a social and riding event centered around Hattiesburg, MS.  It's been a long and wet winter.....

Come join us for the first annual Southern Valkyrie Madness Ride Event.

Dates: April 17-19, 2020
Ground Zero is:
Red Lion Inn
4301 Hardy St. Hattiesburg, MS 39402
(601) 264-8080
Quoted Discounted Price is $62.00 plus tax.

If you prefer, there are other (numerous) hotels within a block or so.  Several options for food within walking distance and fuel just around the corner.

Please call the hotel directly for reservations.  They are holding a block of rooms until
16 April, 2020.  Be sure you tell the clerk you are with the Southern Valkyrie Madness.
Some reservations have already been made but we currently have at least 10 more rooms blocked and more are available currently, if needed.
I would advise those wanting a ground floor room to ask for one when reserving your room.

Planned Activities include:
Ride in Friday, 17 April with a BBQ @ 6:30 PM.  There will be a small charge for this meal, we're trying to do this as reasonably as possible.   Will announce the cost once we figure out what it's going to cost us.   Won't know that till we have an idea of how many folks are attending but, we're trying to keep it under $10.00 per person.

BBQ IS CANCELED
April 18 (Saturday): There will be up to three Ride Captains local gents to lead groups available (if needed).   We have several local riders who will be traveling on hilly and curvy roads to destinations the consider worthy of visiting.  We fully realize we're only about an hour and a half from the coastal beach so, some of our northern friends may want to spend a day at the beach.   It's your choice.  This part of Mississippi has some pretty good roads and the Ride Captains know the good ones.  I would not be one of those Ride Captains local riders, you don't want to follow me, I get lost a lot.  Wink

Local Riders s]Ride Captains[/s] locals will outline each ride their intended travels during the Friday BBQ so riders can chose what they want.
Kick Stands Up @ 9:00 AM in the Red Lion parking lot for those who wish to follow along.
The evening meal (dinner) will be at your discretion, there are several great places to eat in and around Hattiesburg.

Our local riders Ride Captains who don't mind if you follow along are Punisher, Mac and Warlock with other local riders prepared to step up if the numbers justify it or, there are "special" destinations desired that are not on the Ride Captains route.

April 19 (Sunday):  Breakfast and departure.

Edited: Tee Shirts can be pre-ordered through Stephanie if so desired.
Call Stephanie at 931-622-0051
The Tee Shirt logo has been determined, and may be seen on down in this thread.

What's available in Tee Shirts:
Short Sleeve
Short Sleeve Pocket Tee
Long Sleeve Tee
Long Sleeve Pocket Tee
Colors available: White, Safety Green, Safety Orange, and Sport Grey  all will have Black design
Black and Navy will have White design.
For Pricing, please call Stephanie.   VRCC has an agreement with another vendor and posting pricing would conflict with that agreement. Interested riders can contact Stephanie by phone (prefer text) or by email. Will collect for tee shirts at ride.

Willow has offered to help us out with a signup page so, please be on the lookout for it.   We really need to know how many folks will attend so we have sufficient meals prepared.

Sign Up Page no longer needed since the BBQ is canceled.   But, if'n you're coming, it's good to get that hotel room booked early.

I would appreciate folks who have made reservations indicate as such so as to try and get an accurate count.

Edited: Some folks were having problems getting reservations using the ride name and getting the quoted discount.  I have revisited the Manager and am told that apparently not all of their folks knew.  I believe that has been resolved.

Please note that changes have been made and more may happen.   I will keep everyone as informed as possible.
While there I noted the following restaurants with in easy walking distance.

Outback Steak House
Hooters
Plaid Rhino
Wendy’s
Westover Wine & Liquor

With several other options a short ride away.

Rams and the Hattiesburg Gang.

Ron,

If good intentions count for anything... well, I do have those! Heck, I have just about all I need to make this... well, except for knowledge of where I'll be by then, or... how I'll feel, or... you know... Still, I do hope... and intend... to be there. I reckon all that is left is for me to actually show up... I do like the idea of y'all throwing this shindig, though, and I commend y'all for doing it!!!

DDT

P.S. That BBQ dinner thingy Friday evening you mentioned sounds downright 'dee-lite-ful'! I am partial to that particular food-group, so that alone makes the ride worthwhile!!!

Bruce,
The menu has not been finalized to my knowledge.   This is a group effort and I'm not in charge of anything, only the messenger.   But, I was told BBQ.   Last I heard, there was discussion between BBQ and Smoker menus.   Either way, I'm sure it will be scrumptious.   smitten

Looking forward to see ALI and her beloved rider.  Wink

Well as usual I have a bunch of excuses why I may not make it, least of which is my bike is not in running condition. I’m going in for cataract surgery in February and they only do one eye at a time. My vision has taken a nosedive in the last couple of years and my doc says I should be much improved after the surgery. All said and done I’d really like to be there!

Make sure you absolutely follow the eye drop regimen post op. Do NOT skip some cause you think the eye feels fine.

It really should be no problem.  A day and a half after my second cataract surgery I rode 960 miles to Panama City, Florida.  I ride without a windscreen.

Check on the type of lens your getting … new ones are muti focus lens. More expensive, but if
I could replace mine with the new design, I would it in a NY minute, no matter the cost. As a side note he put the wrong one in on one eye and I had to have it torn out and replaced, because it was so wrong it was not correctable . Cant go thru that again … been in my eye to long to replace(2 mo. limit on time in eye) to replace.

Oh Man, that sucks!   Per my doc, eventually, I'm going to have to get this done.   So far, so good.

Hope you're able to attend this event, should be a good time.

Thanks for the heads up on the lens issue, I didn’t know there were options. And I sure don’t won’t to have a do over either.

Sorry Ron it is not doable this year as it is over 1200 miles each way by interstate that is 3 days each way by smaller roads  Wild6 would do it easy in 2 each way he doesnt mind riding at night

I am out also for the Yooper ride this year.

Inzane looks like the long ride for 2020 and I may be a day late for that

Oss,
You will be missed but, I understand.   I'm currently overloaded with a home renovation and addition to that same home.   Without the other Hattiesburg gents and ladies, this event would never happen.   My daily schedule is pretty full.   I'm just the messenger here.   Most likely, the only other event I'm planning on making this year is Inzane.   Just too much on my "honey do" list.   Hopefully next year will allow me more opportunities to travel.

Must be a new or different clerk, will get that straightened out ASAP
Edited:  Just as I was thought, the left hand was not communicating with the right hand.
Hopefully, they are all on the same sheet of music!
I have been assured this has been resolved.
