Folks desiring the miniature lobsters (crawfish) need to speak up.
As I said before, not something I care to have on the menu and don't have a problem with it being prepared but, I don't mind not having it either.

So far, other than the initial request, there hasn't been much support.   I'll give this a couple more days just to be fair.

Ron,

Congrats, my friend! Regardless of the eventual menu, you and your cohorts have put together what appears to be the makings of a seriously grand gathering! I for one am just as seriously looking forward to it, too!

One of the better aspects of our shared passion is getting together now and then to compare notes, exchange ideas, and belly-laugh 'til it hurts! Looks like to this observer, y'all have all the requisite ingredients for a trifecta going on here... Saaa-lute!

Bruce,
Thank you for the kind words.   I won't take all the credit though, there are 5 others involved and to be honest, I'm really just the messenger.

But, I am working on something the other folks don't know about yet.   We'll see how the idea goes over before I put it out on the forum but, I think everyone will like it.  No, it does not involve mini lobsters.  Wink

Based on the lack of support for the mini-lobsters (crawfish), I've decided to save the cost and try to do something else.   We'll see how that  works out.   Will announce that at the BBQ Friday evening (maybe sooner).   We as a group are pretty excited about first year attendance and really hope everyone has a great and safe time.

Visited one of my favorite restaurants this week and talked the manager into giving me a dinner for two.   Considering giving that dinner to the person that travels the farthest to join us at the Southern Valkyrie Madness event or maybe just have a drawing of some kind.   What say those of you attending?

Danny,

Man, what an evening we had yesterday! I was pleasantly reminded of your friendly hospitality... However, I had not an inkling of any idea of what awaited me when you gave me the 'tour of your museum'!!! Looks to me like you and Charlie have a pretty good looking life going on for yourselves, and I'm mighty glad we had a chance to spend some time together!!! Looking forward to the ride today, also... WOW! What an adventure this has already turned out to be... and we're just getting started... Not sure my aging ticker can take another episode in a few weeks... but I'm sure as heck gonna give it a shot!!! Thanks for being you, my friend, and for sharing a slice of it with yours truly...

Whole heartedly agree, Danny and Charlie are special people.   His collection of "toys" is amazing and will widen anyone's eyes.

Bruce,
Being a "messenger", I have frequently gotten credit when other folks actually should have.
I am always humbled when in your company being the second best looking young stud in the group.  Wink    I really can't take credit for the vast majority of good things that have happened.   I have some really good folks as friends.   Evil
BTW, please never ask me to "Zip you up again."   Lips Sealed  Way too many cameras around.....   2funny

Having said that, I had a grand time yesterday riding with that group of beautiful people to the coast.

Back on topic:   Checked with Red Lion yesterday, currently (they tell me) they have 22 rooms confirmed for our  Southern Valkyrie Madness event.   And, since you stayed at the Red Lion this visit, please feel free to comment on the facility.

Ron,

I had a pleasant stay at the Red Lion... Nice place suitable even for picky wives or GFs! Only negative thing I encountered was the lack of in-room coffee... Had to trek to the office for that magical tonic. Breakfast was pretty much standard fare for an upscale 'bargain' motel... No complaints otherwise, so I anticipate all who join us will be satisfied... It truly is better than many (most) I've stayed in on other rides! Heck, I saw my first 'Plaid Rhino' restaurant, and it was only a couple of hundred yards away! Looking forward to a return, and to the good company that will be included in this event!!! Thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with you and the gang!

DDT

Danny,

You have a 'mean streak' I've apparently underestimated! On the other hand, you and Charlie sure added much to the enjoyment of this outing, and I thank y'all for everything! Hey, I now have a few pictures myself, ya know! Tread lightly, my friend...

Rob,

I hadn't thought of that, but you just may be on to something here! An ounce of prevention and all that... Although the office coffee was quite strong, there was none of that yucky after taste... Yep, you just may have a very good point!

Getting the old girl ready for the trip. Changed timing belts and tensioners. Today I solo’d her. Makes me a little sad because Judy doesn’t think she will be ready to ride for quite some time so I thought I’d try this for a change. Last thing will be a new front tire and she will be ready!

That's a fine look'n Fat Lady you've got there.   smitten   Look'n forward to seeing it and it's rider in person.

On a side note, the boss (wife) and I went out to one of our more favored restaurants last night.   The manager there (Sarah) has become a friend of sorts.   Was telling her about our event.   She said she had something special to share with us and went behind the bar and came back with some discount cards.   They vary in how much the discount is (from 10% to 100% off the price of a meal) and are a scratch off lottery type thing.  The carrier must do the scratch off at the restaurant in front of the manager.  So don't do it early.   She gave me 50 of these cards.

Obviously, a marketing thing to drive more business but, I thought it was a very nice gesture and who doesn't like a very good seafood deal.   So, I'll have the cards at the BBQ, anyone that would like one for Saturday evening, be sure to say something.   I may have my hands full of BBQ.  Wink

The Hattiesburg Valkyrie Riders are all excited about our upcoming event.   It appears we'll have a pretty good attendance for our inaugural event.   Obviously, we hope to make this an annual event with lots of tire kick'n, BBQ eat'n, Lie Story Tell'n and Fun.    Having said that, we continue to look for opportunities to enhance the attendees experience.

It looks like we'll be having a raffle for our chosen charity.   Local businesses are being sourced for prizes to raffle off.   So far, the Indian Motorcycle dealer has contributed, our local Honda dealership has promise to come up with something and IIRC five other businesses have promised donations items specific to their specialties.    There will be some happy attendees with dinners for Saturday evening.

If we're lucky, maybe we can talk Danny into showing guests his collection of toys.   You won't believe what he's got in his "Shop".

NOTICE:  Due to the current Corona Virus Pandemic guidelines and concerns, the Hattiesburg Hosting Group is Canceling the BBQ scheduled for 17 April.   The "Ride" event is still on and we should practice "Social Distancing" but, that could change depending on how things work out.   We are a motorcycle group and should be fine as long as we follow good "Social Distancing", hand washing and other recommended practices.   That last statement is my opinion.

Well, as for my part of social distancing, I have removed my passenger seat. No one can infect me while I’m riding. I am still planning on attending unless I come in contact with an infected person. That’s the biggest thing. Know your own risk and don’t go near others if you might be exposed.

Looking forward to a great time!!

We are seriously looking forward to having our motorcycle brethren visit and share some wind with us.    As a group though we felt we must consider the gathering of folks from 15 different states in close proximity to each other all the while not knowing who each of us had been in contact with.  The incubation period being reported as anywhere from two days to two weeks.   The last thing we wanted was to spread this virus throughout our friends, family and fellow Valkyrie families.

We felt it was the responsible thing to do.

It was my hope this virus would die off by the time our Madness event occurred but, we simply don’t want to risk it.

NOTICE II:  As of this afternoon, The Mississippi Department of Health has made several recommendations, in response to that, the Mayor of Hattiesburg has ordered several types of businesses shut down and gatherings of 10 people or more is outlawed and subject to legal ramifications.   Based on this dis-heartening news, the Hattiesburg group has decided to cancel this event and try again after the Pandemic is over.   Maybe in the Fall or next Spring.   If you have reservations at Ground Zero, you should probably make that call.

Sad to say.  Reservation cancelled today  Cry

I was really looking forward to the trip. Dang China flu!  Well the one good thing is now I don’t have to change the front tire early because of the trip. I can now use the last few hundred miles left so I’ll get the 20k miles like usual instead of wasting the last bit.

Maybe next time cooldude

Undecided Bummer, Ron, I appreciate all your efforts in getting this first event on the calendar for Hattiesburg. I do look forward to the next SVM that you will hold in Hattiesburg. This shall pass.....  coolsmiley
