Glad to know you still have internet service.

Good luck and be safe. Hope you have enough fuel to keep chugging along.

Did a short run check on mine. Topped off gas. School closed tomorrow along with all the metro Atlanta schools.

I hope all is well for folks down there.  Besides surge and rain, I'm reading about big wind and tornado warnings.  Was talking with my friend Marty in Lucedale MS this evening.

While on the subject, I think Congress should pass a law requiring that all hurricanes out of the Gulf stay down there and not run all the way up here.  Even though they've calmed down some, they're still irritating.

Every June 1st I take my generator and run it for a while, plug some stuff in for a stress test after that I change the oil to make sure I'm ready to go if need be. I also have a 55 gallon drum I start to fill up around June. If no event happens that becomes auto and lawn equipment gas until next June.

Surprisingly I lost power for a week after Mathew and the internet still worked. Not sure how that was possible?

Hope you don't have a mess on your hands, good luck.

Power out here at 6.45 this morning. Strong wind so a tree must be down somewhere. I'll wait until the rain passes and then fire up my generator.

Weatherman says winds hit low seventies here, not sure.  Know this, I took down the flags off the flag pole because I watched it bend and sway to the point I thought it would topple.

Inherited a few articles from somewhere.   Not sure which direction they came from, the wind switched directions a few times.   Based on what I can see, I did lose the roof of a bird house, that's OK, didn't like the damn thing anyway.  Wink  Dumped a bunch of rain, so far, my drainage ditch/culvert handled what Zeta gave.

Waiting for the weather to break so I can take a look at my own roof.   According to the Wxman, lots of downed trees and power lines down.   Have seen several utility company trucks going up and down the road.   I had my generator ready to rock but, didn't need it (this time).

The whole county is out of power. One tree down on the power line just down the road from me on my street. I would imagine it will be one of the last to be dealt with. Generator is running happily and I have power.

Hey, Paul, I rode down your street last Saturday, but didn't see ya.
Glad you have your generator running, nice to have have power.
Installed a Generac fed by natural gas line in June, then the whole area lost power for 2 days.
Around here, if a bird pisses on a wire, the entire sector goes dark. Utility company is "working on the problem"...

Thankfully, I am finally missing one of these storms.  I've been through 2 so far this year...
I'm also quite sick of picking up tree limbs and running a chainsaw...

Prayers to y'all that are in the path of this one.  I feel your pain.
I hope nothing is damaged that can't be replaced.

I haven't been paying attention :-) ... so I wake up this morning,
the wind is raging and the power is off. I drove off towards town
and the by-pass, they had power out there, I got some large cups
of coffee at a quickie mart, all the fast food places were slammed.

Lots of damaged trees out there... 44,000 people in my county
without power. A smallish pine tree fell near the Valkyrie shed
and smushed a metal yard chair.

Georgia Power doesn't have an estimated time to have the power back on.

https://outagemap.georgiapower.com/

Facebook gossip tells me the main transformer for Clayton got fried.  Shocked

Going to be a long day for some without a generator.

$400 well spent as far as I'm concerned.

Likely I'll get power today, it is all around me now. I
only had to drive to the corner store to fill up my coffee
pot this morning... I think I will finally look seriously into
a generator... I wonder if there's such a thing as a
quiet propane generator?

Good luck, Mike, on getting yer coffee machine fired up. Did you know those can double as a laundry machine?

My LPNG Generac can be configured for propane. It is a V-Twin, but
much quieter than a Harley...

I don't know if they are quiet or not.

But they do make propane powered generators:

Almost sounds like she was trying to recreate a classic joke:

"Would I?"
"Hair lip!"

It's time for the annual school dance, and this boy with a wooden eye is having problems getting a date. After being rejected by multiple girls, he settles on one girl that also has an impaired physical appearance, except she has a deformed top lip of her mouth.

She says yes and when the school dance comes around after a couple of days they go together.

She is not very good at keeping conversation and the boy has always been sort of awkward because people would always make fun of him. Eventually he musters up enough confidence and turns to the girl.

"Would you care to dance?" he says nervously.

She replies ecstatically, "WOULD I?"

The guy yells back "HAIR LIP!"

Woo Hoo.

I looked at the GA Power outage map. I got the power!

Drove back home this morning to check everything was OK in the house and to turn on the rest of the breakers in the main fuse panel.

I left with the main breaker and fridge "on".

Opened the fridge door. Nuttin!' The bowls of frozen water I had put in there now had liquid contents.

I called Chuck down the hill. Yep he's got power.

I called Miss Sandy up the hill. Yep she's got power.

Darn it.

Called a friend who knows 'lectricity.

He asked if anything was working. I tell him the clock on the oven is working. He asks if the stove top is working. Yep and making heat.

It's something with the neutral he tells me.

I go look at the power meter outside. The numbers are flashing - whatever that means.

The wires coming to the pole look like one is broken.

I call GA Power and report I have no power.

About 15 minutes later I get a call from a GA Power tech.

I tell him the meter is flashing and that the stove works.

He asks me to look at the pole and neutral cable. They seem OK.

He tells me there may be a fault with the neutral cable further back down the line.

And no idea when they can come check as all crews are working 30 hour days trying to fix the enormous mess caused by Tropical Storm Zeta. Maybe by Sunday (tomorrow) around midnight.

I plug the gennie in for a couple of hours to give my freezer a boost. it's holding cold very well.

Load what's in my fridge into cold bags and head back to my ladyfriend in Maggie Valley.

Sometime power cuts can have their up side. Cheesy

After 70 percent of all my appliances/car/mower/water heater/whole HVAC/one Valk clutch self destructed over the last couple years, my washer is now also (possibly) a boat anchor.

Hand wringing out a big load of laundry is harder work than you'd think.  Pumped the soapy water out with a submersible pump and hose (to kill the grass).

I'd celebrate if only 3 things crapped out at the same time. (bad luck comes in 3's)

And my washer repairman has the same last name as one of the 911 hijackers. (Inshalla)

But if he only blows up the washer, I'm OK with it.  (I'll even help)

And after the hurricane rain two days ago, we're getting another two inches today.  Surf's up.

So overall, things are looking up.    tickedoff

Used AMA roadside again.

Jimmy arrived with a jump pack.

Car fired up immediately.

I then smacked myself up the back of the head.

Last night I had turned on the interior lights so some friends could see into the car.

Parked outside ladyfriends home in the sunshine.

Forgot to turn interior lights off as became obvious once the car started.  uglystupid2

Returned home and GA Power had fixed the power problem to my house.  cooldude

It's ripping up here too.

Limbs down.

On the up side, my leaves seem to be going to another county.

Most of the time, if the power goes out at night, I just go back to sleep and wait till morning.

My washer stopped spinning the clothes a couple of weeks ago.

I called several repair places but couldn't get anyone to come work on it.

I made the decision to try and fix it or replace it if I couldn't.

I Googled the problem with the make and model # of the washer.

That led to watching some YouTube videos.

It took me most of the day but I found the problem and fixed it with a $30 part.

Had I known where to look first, I could've fixed it in a couple of hours easy.
