So while our newest President (Grand Poohbah 2?) was occupying the air waves, what were some of you doing?

I was at the bench using up the last of my Varget powder since it has been a member of the unobtainium family for over a year now. I only got 1200 rounds out of what I had left leaving me with a very unsatisfied feeling. On the bright side, I picked up a progressive loader for .38 special/.357 mag for a great price. Now if I can only get the needed supplies to make that work....

Mortared in the mosaic tile in the foyer, grout the entire foyer tomorrow. Finally got started on the installation of the chimney style range hood after receiving the chimney extension I’ve had on order since this past October.

No tv viewing all day.

Got my foyer grouted! Since I got the preliminary mounting locations and power supply location for my range hood marked on the wall I can continue with the backsplash installation in the kitchen. Wife wants tile all the way up to the ceiling where the chimney style hood will be located.

My 20 year old lift didn’t come with one of those T-handle things on it so I made one in the shop from whatever was lying around. Somehow the nozzle on my acetylene plumber torch spit out some internals while I was silver soldering and now gets red hot.  Haven’t found a replacement online. May have to get creative.

Later I used some citrus based paint stripping gel to remove 40+ year old wrinkle finish paint from my old H-D crankcases. Worked great ! Probably do some more today.

Working on a 71 Honda CL450 with a 1st gear transmission hiccup.  Ten years ago I would have never attempted this alone, but now with the advantage of the internet specific forums one can find experts on line.  I send photos and short videos to a guy in Holland over a couple of days and he helps me diagnose the problem.  Then with eBay and a network sharing of parts at Honda dealers across the country I’m able to find a rare shifter fork and two gears (NOS) needed for the repair.

I’m done for the day now, as it will take a week for the parts to come.

Scored 2 extra 14 round magazines for my S & W .40 S V E. And promptly loaded said magazines with 14 rounds each of 165 grain hollow points. Ammo I have-magazines Are in Short supply. My gun shop has them on order but so do everyone else in the country. I'm fortunate to have what I do have. RIDE SAFE.

Rebuilt my rear brake caliper, serviced the rear drive, installed the rear wheel and shocks. Tomorrow I’ll hook up the auxiliary tank and see if the bitch starts and runs. If so, I’ll install the tank and hit the road this weekend.

If memory is correct that was the upswept pipes? I rode one to CA from Boca Raton, Fla in about '77. First big road trip I ever took and the start of a life long pursuit of new scenery.

I never loaded hand gun rounds except hard to find stuff, like 7.62x 25 or 10 mm. That may change since 9mm FMJ is now going for more than what I once paid for long gun ammo in bulk. Finding the appropriate components is now the challenge

Correct, upswept pipes.

The later years changed the pipes slightly, but basically the same machine.  I have a CL360 too, this 450 has a considerable more snort to it.  I’ll only keep one of the machines, I have not decided which one yet.  I picked up the 450 last summer, basically a basic barn find; it ran though, which was a bonus.  I noticed a 1st gear slippage in a short test run and assumed it was just a basic clutch fix.  Nope.  I fixed a bunch of other things and kept tinkering with the clutch to no avail.  Rather than pass the machine on I decided to dig into this winter when I have some time.
Not a great machine for distance riding though, too much vibration at highway speeds.  Not a great dirt machine either as it is a heavy machine.  But if you want to rip down a gravel road or a farm field trail, this is the machine to have.

Today I headed to my favorite greasy spoon for a late breakfast. Gives me a chance to flirt with Tina and Carla, whatever I do or say they give it right back. If they see me walking toward the door, by the time I'm inside and headed for my favorite spot at the counter, they have my coffee cup full, glass of water and OJ waiting for me. I tease them about taking me for granted and I generally get a cute little nudge by the hip or side of the hand as they walk away. Interestingly enough....I don't see it with other patrons. Sadly they're much too young...early 50's. Makes the meal much more enjoyable though.  Wink

Afterward, I ran the car through the carwash. It always does a major spray underneath which helps to keep the salty brine off during winter. Following that it's a sharp U turn and into the driveway next door for the quickie oil/filter change. Before even looking at the computer record the older guy greets me with a "hello Mr. Schmidt, good to see you again." He knows how to keep customers, the car that pulled in the other stall was greeted the same way plus he asked about a daughter's college activities. Once done, he stood at my window and chatted for a couple minutes. So, with a clean car and fresh oil, I ck'd. with my daughter Toni...."I'm here stuffing my face, door's open and Lucy is due here shortly." Lucy is my 5 month old greatgranddaughter which she, grandma, watches a couple afternoons. Headed over there, just down the street a 1/2 mile, fussed over the dog and shortly Lucy arrived. At 5 mo. she's developing some personality traits, cute as can be. After a couple hrs. headed for the casa, set up the IR heaters in the garage and worked on the bike to trike project for a while. Didn't really do much, so why am I so tired this evening?  Wink

Well it’s a rainy day here in NW Florida and we have an RTE tomorrow so I did my monthly undercover cleaning. Sadly it’s becoming more like a quarterly undercover but to my surprise everything was rather clean. It was more like dusting than cleaning. My hands didn’t even get dirty. All the paint and Chrome got wax and all the hoses and plastic got vinyl protectant. Screws and nuts that need checked got checked and or tightened. Just got it all buttoned back up and it took less than an hour.

Most of the cleaning was concentrated on the engine. I used my digital camera with flash to find hidden dirt. That works so well

There is real value in this. The last time I detected a slight oil seepage from the forward end of the right side valve cover. I removed and resealed it. This time theres no sign of any seepage. I’d rather find that on close inspection, than it gets bad enough for the whole world to see. That surely doesn’t represent well.

I think it depends on the individual stores. When our Popeyes opened I tried it because of all the hype. We got take out and brought it home. So greasy we had to re bake it to get some of the grease cooked off. It was barely edible. Never going back

Bought a CB450 new  in  '71.   Had it till '70 when a young lady broad sided it.  Couple of years after buying it change the pipes to CL pips.  Enjoyed it.  Lots of off hwy miles.

I spent the day trying to get the leaves picked up.   Didn't get that done in the fall like I should have, and took a short 90 mile ride.   Good day outside.
