No rooms at the DoubleTree in tonight so I'm staying at the University Inn which is just south of I-59 on the right hand side next to the Howard Johnson and the Super 8

Did you try the backup facility next door?

Seeing as Serk Jr's longest previous ride was 50 miles, decided to break up the 500ish miles to hattiesburg a bit, left after I got off work and he got home form school late this afternoon to get the first 200ish miles behind us, and the rest tomorrow....

So see ya' tomorrow!

I must be sick! I woke up at 4:00am feeling rested and awake. I brewed one cup of coffee and downed it, now brewing a second cup. Then it’s shower time and getting things ready to load back on the bike. But before I leave, I’ve got to fix myself one of those Belgian waffles down at the breakfast area. Shaping up to be a great start to the day.

Well Bob,
I hope you made it but, I don't believe I met you.

Kick Stands went up about 9:45 AM or so and both rides left Ground Zero and made a short trip to ride by one of our best friends, Danny McMillen's place, Danny has been having some health issues and couldn't attend.    We arranged for Mac's and Warlock's groups to line up and ride past Danny's home while he and his wife Charlie sat out in the driveway as we passed by waving and honky horns.   It was a nice Get Well card from his friends who wished he could have joined up with us.

After passing by Danny's home, the two groups broke up and went separate directions.   Both returned and all concerned said they had some good times on some fun roads.   The weather cooperated.   I even got some sun tanning in.   I didn't say it was pretty.  Wink

I do hope others fill in the blanks (since I was unable to go on either ride) had a few other priorities I had to take care of.

Wanted to express my thanks each and every person that attended.   I tried to meet everyone but, not sure I was able to accomplish that.   I wasn't able to get the pictures I wanted but that's OK, lots of great friendships were renewed and I met a heck of a lot of new folks.   I think we had between 80 and 90 folks in total.   Some locals showed up that I hadn't counted on.

Think'n we might do it again next year (assuming there's enough positive feedback).

This was my first Valkyrie get together and I really had a good time.   Rams….my hats (helmet) off to ya for a well organized get together.  Ya did a good job.   You too Warlock for leading your group to Camp Shelby and to the Red Bluffs site.  For me it was fun to meet the people I post with on the VRCC site and to be able to put a face with their Nicknames/handles.   We ate some good food and had some good fellowship.  Thanks to all that came.

From Houston I got down and dirty on the Interstate and drove the 480 miles in right at 8 hrs.  Coming back I left the hotel this morning at 5 am and came home via smaller roads and found that in Mississippi and Louisiana nearly all 2 lane roads are 55 mph speed limits.   Talking with people at the service stations and 2 times I was advised not to break the speedlimits as the police dept will write you a ticket for just a couple mph over the limit. Took me 8 hrs going and 10 hrs coming home. Anyways…..Digger is at the house

650 miles and 10 hours in the the saddle, haven’t done that in a looonnnggg time! Traffic on I 75 was a nightmare or maybe I’m just getting old, well I’m for sure getting old, and traffic is a sore spot for me.

Got to add some new faces and names to the old rememberer, still didn’t get around to everybody. Hoping everyone gets home safe and sound.

1,527 miles round trip including the ride on Saturday.   Two days to get there, but rode straight back today.   My butt is dragging.   Met some great people.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in Billings.

Ron,

Hot Tub and this relic made it 'home' yesterday. We had ourselves a wonderful time on our own little coddiewomple that culminated with our participation in the 'Fling'. Can't say enough good things about that event or those who had a hand in its creation and execution!!! You truly put on a grand show this time, Ron; you knocked the ball out of the park!

After experiencing the 'Fling' and meeting all the folks, HTJ is now talking incessantly about InZane in Billings! I've overheard him mention it several times to his bride already! He enjoyed himself immensely on our journey, but he was totally blown away by the reception he received at the Fling. We have definitely NOT seen the last of that guy! Oh, and I had a rather large time, myself... Thanks for the excuse to go forth and prove once again that this geriatric juvenile can still play with the other kids...

Home and a half wit or wits managed to set the side of the valley opposite us on fire yesterday afternoon. About 3 miles away. A couple of flying water droppers are busy and fire crews from a few different areas are here helping. There's also a 4 lane road between us and the fire although if the wind is strong that helps only a little.

I know a couple of people whose homes are gone and a couple of part timers who will be staying in FL.

We packed some bags ready but the wind is in our favor and rain coming in a few hours.

Last night the side of the mountain looked like it had lava flowing down it.
