I know you aint supposed to do any work on your bike right before a trip

Good advice. That's why I'm paying someone ELSE to tear my Goldwing apart and do some of the most invasive maintenance one does to a Gold Wing right before a trip instead of doing it myself! Wink

Air filter?

Yup. Don't know when or if it's ever been changed so having that done, and also replacing the left handlebar control cluster (The turn signal switch) to resolve a odd esoteric issue I'm having with the turn signal switch...

Weather is still to far away to predict but accuweather is showing Hattiesburg 60% rain Friday and 81% rain Saturday.   Its still too far away for them to be accurate.   Maybe Rams could talk some of the locals into improving that forcast.  Anyways….I got a good raincoat.

If you need a new seat I suggest Hartco.

Serk will be there on his wing with his Hartco.

I had one on my 98 Valkyrie. Best seat EVAH!

Yep, our local Wx folks are now calling for a 30% chance of precipitation.  Even less on Sunday for those folks traveling home.    I'm feeling good about this, not good enough to take my rain gear out or my saddle bags and leave it at home but then I wouldn't do that anyway.   I'm mostly concerned about melting (being the sweet guy I am).  Wink    I know some others might float away under the right conditions.   Wink

Weather forecast is telling me rain for my departure day - Thursday.

What to do? What to do? What to do?

LEAVE on Wednesday!!! An extra day of riding.

I'm still leaving Wednesday even though the forecast has improved.

I wanted to go to Muscle Shoals last year on the way to Hattiesburg but the 26F cold delayed my departure.. Hopefully this year I'll get a couple of photos in front of the recording studios in Muscle Shoals..

Supposed to be very windy in Hattiesburg on Wednesday.   Just thought I'd let you know.   I'm thinking that has something to do with DDT's arrival.   Wink

As you can see, I've added a poll to this thread, should have done it sooner but, it is, what it is.

Just trying to determine how many riders want to go on the different rides.   Makes a difference in where the Ride Leader stops for a lunch.

You mean something like this.

Wife and I visited Fame and the Muscle Shoals studio and took the tours.  Would recommend the Muscle Shoals Studio if you only got to do one.  The gentlemen was excellent as a tour guide, knew stuff, made it very personal.

We did not get a picture in front of the Fame Studio.  It was a little more like part of other buildings, as I remember.  But I have slept since then.

A little info on the Camp Shelby ride. After leaving Danny house we will travel to Hwy 49 and head south to Camp Shelby. Once we leave there we will head north on 49 to Rose's BBQ for lunch. Then head north on 49 to get on hwy 11 south to Purvis. There we will ride some nice roads Pervis to Columbia road. At that point we can decide if the group wants to see Red Bluff we can ride to it. The road up to Red Bluff is a good road. But the road north of Red Bluff is bad. Then leave there and run the Columbia run a couple back roads and catch the Oloh Purvis road back into Purvis. Catch 589 in Purvis and run north to hwy 98 and 98 east back to Hattiesburg. Nice relaxing ride and plenty of places to fuel up. Now if the group that wants to ride with me and more wants to ride to the Lynyrd Skynyrd Monument then it will be a totally different route. This can be discussed at ground zero either Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Warlock aka: David
Just to up date the bad road I mentioned North of Red Bluff is not included on my ride. I feel it is to risky for a group to ride on.

Also weather conditions could make a change of plan

I plan on traveling some back roads and stopping at Hellfrigther either before or after lunch. Hellfrigther's is a very interesting motorcycle shop in Laurel MS. Then work our way back to Hattiesburg. Let me also add that this is all subject to change according to the weather.

Britman,
I honestly think it depends on who you ask.   There's a bunch of BBQ places here.
BTW, tomorrow is predicted to have Thunderstorms and some straight line winds over most of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.   Should blow over tomorrow evening.

Local Wx guy says Saturday there's a 20% chance of rain in the morning.
Once the predicted occluded front gets through here Wednesday evening, we're looking good for the next 5 days.

That front is predicted to bring some very high winds (80 mph) through here Wednesday evening.

If you're coming from Texas or Louisana, just put it in neutral and sail.   2funny  Just thought some of you might be interested in this if coming early.

What is "Hell Fighters"?.

Hell Fighters is a motorcycle adventure that a man locally started to give felons an opportunity to make it on the outside as I understand it.   They've got some very customized bikes in there the former inmates built/created or fixied up.   Some pretty cool bikes in there, they sell the bike, all kinds of touristy stuff and jeeps.   An interesting place to see in my own opinion.   But as with everything, to each their own.   The vast majority of bikes are V twins but, when it comes to cool looking bikes, that's OK.  (That doesn't mean I'm gonna ride one.)  Wink

Edited:  For anyone interested, I'm very willing to lead anyone over to that location just cause I enjoy it.  Wink

I might be reading this incorrectly, but I see on the poll that one person indicated Hell Fighters.   I don't know who it was but, if you'll let me know by PM, I'll make sure you get there.   Assuming you're not wanting to go on the longer "Coast Ride".

Both rides are dependent on the Wx.   I've gone out on a limb and contacted Mother Nature directly and have been assured we will have good riding weather.    Just let me know how I can make your visit better and if I can, I'll try.

No rooms at the DoubleTree in tonight so I'm staying at the University Inn which is just south of I-59 on the right hand side next to the Howard Johnson and the Super 8
