I'm having a little problem with the brass inserts on the speaker cover and since it's apart, found one of the speakers in bad shape. Thought I might as well replace the speakers with the Polk speakers.
Could someone tell me the Polk speaker I need and where to get them? Thanks, I'm about worthless on the computer.

Gary, please remember to specify the bike you are talking about..... an interstate?

There was a really nice how-to published years ago with step by step instructions and pictures on upgrading interstate speakers to polks (401s ?, and maybe not the same front and rear Polks).  It was not plug and play, but involved tearing apart the old Honda speakers and using the frame edge to secure the new Polks, or something like that.

I've looked for that web info before (few years back), and it's gone (probably lost it's web hosting).

Maybe someone copied it, or can find it on some way back machine thingy.

The Polk speakers were DB501’s. I think those were discontinued. I replaced 4 of those in my ‘05 Wing.

I think the DB501 can still be had if you do a search for them.  I found that using the "gaskets" from the OEM speakers makes the switch much easier than trying to make adapters as in some of the write ups.  If you have questions, please IM me, and I'll try to give a better description.

Here is one post I saved.

another

In there is the link to the how to, but the internal links aren't there right now. I don't know if it is a temp thing or permanent. Photobucket originally had the pictures, and most don't work anymore.

I believe the 501 is a 5" speaker, and the original was to have been a 401 (4") which was discontinued. Any 4" speaker should be a bolt in.

BUT, I forget entirely, but the speakers should be a none regular 4 ohm speaker, not a 8 (or vis-a-ver-sa).

The posts where old, pre 2010, so a search should be your best friend, and fine something.

someone had a link/web site/something, that brought up old posts in forum. Maybe this could kind the old post and the pictures.
