Yesterday was  a  off  day , looks  like  today will follow  suit.
Yeah, I  think just doing what I  must and  a 2nd  day of  rest...

This  was  my Saturday !

Man what a long bloody day..
All I did was lift and lug heavy ass bags in all stores today.
4 sacks of 80lbs with holes in them of quikrete,
ya think one of them young MF that work in Lowes would help!
NO F*cking way ~bastards ,They just stand around talking with each other playing pocket pool ! ..
But I did get 75% off each bag.. Smiley
AT first they were only going to give me 25% off ,
I told them NO way ! I worked my butt off over there..
I was back there for over an hour trying to wrap them up with the crap ya'll only had .
That was like saranwrap ! And anyone who know concrete, once it hits saran wrap.
That crap will NEVER stick back to it's self ever again ! IF I had known they wouldn't have sacks !
I would have brought my own ! And used empty feed sacks !
They normally give ya strong plastic bags for the stuff with holes.. But they were out.

I also got 1/2 ton of feed first . so yeah I was tired before I even got to Lowes.
And my temperament was short , to say the least .
Yeah I'm going to be sore as hell come Monday/Tuesday...

But I did get every thing I went out for !

Then on Sunday I  rode... Only 60 miles, But I  was checking out a  few  things.

Monday

3 sacks of quikcrete went in 1 spot out side of a few shovels in the dump truck tire divots..
The tire divots I left room for black top.. For when I get some help..
I had to use the tractor , because I had to put the scoop under the tail gate of the truck, them busted up sacks would NOT take to carrying, it more of a lift and twist to scoop and drop.
So pretty much had loose q.crete in the scoop. Worked out well..
When I swept the scoop out, that went into the tire divots.
I didn't want any cement dust in the scoop.
After one really good 1/2" rain, That I had to check the big area,
while it had just slowed down to trickle.
Just an over sized T, and my green army boots, and a broom.
I walked down and fixed a little bit of what was trying to wash away.
Then another storm but not a gully washer... Once it all stopped I took oleYeller a 5gal. bucket and my snow shovel.. Went farther down the driveway and grabbed 4 bucket loads of loose gravel and put it on top of the wet Q.crete.. And leveled that off..
Just got back from checking everything once again after this 3 rd storm.. It all looks good.
I did save 1 sack.. For more fill ins..

I'm tired and back n shoulder says we need a break LOL .
I told them not yet LOL

Stuff is really greening up FAST now !

That concrete work is well done.  I have done a little but just the footers for the observatory and the house and the bricks for the observatory "shield wall".

It takes some skill to get it done right.

Sounds like you dd it right.  And yes that as a lot of work.

I  use  Maple syrup and  a  touch of  honey in my Ice cream  smitten

We are  down to 48* already tonight they say maybe  the 40's
SO I brought the  tender  plants  in. My house  plants  are  NOT  low  so I  left  them out.
Some  of them maters  are  seeds I  have  been saving since  the  80's !
A  nice  variety that can NOT  be  gotten anymore.  I  only grow  open pollinated  plants.
Yes  I  save  my seeds  from the  best looking fruit each year. and  I  grow  many different .
Heirlooms

I  might even trim my fancy lettuce , come  morning..

We took a road trip four or five years ago and one of the planned stops was Norton, VA.  Found the WoodBugger by accident.

Now, each time we go through or near Norton, that is where we stop (two or three times since the first).

Tried to find some pictures of wife and friends with the WoodBugger but no luck so far.  Know I have them.

My yard  is  trying  to kill me ...
I  have  to use  the  mower  as a weed whacker.. 2funny
Yeah that's  something  I  don't  have!

This  took me  almost 3  hours !

And  I  did  the  other  side  as  well and  around  the  gardens..
Then for  the  next 1.5 h I  got  to ride  the  JD  and  did  the rest of  the   yard..

All before  the  rain !

Continually impressed with your skill sets and your endurance.   Very impressive.

I no longer have a real lawn mover, just a zero turn mower and, or course, a weed whacker (which has been rebuilt a little but same old engine) which is 12 - 15 years old.

If I were going to do it again (and I sort of did) I'd get one of those convertible guys.  You know the ones you can change the attachments on the drive system.  I have on (forget the brand) that has a blower, a blade weed whacker, and a chain saw attachments.  You can get an extension to allow you to use the chainsaw on higher tree limbs.

But first  I  need  to get them 2 Gas  ones  sold..
My bud  took them to 'bama  with him to clean up and  sell..
Still waiting...  So the  2  should  buy 1...  cooldude

I  just hope  he  sells  them soon...

One of the tricks to cutting long grass/weeds is only do half or less the width of the mower.  I learned this a long time ago.

Another trick with tall grass-weeds is to cut once with the mower deck set high (all the way up), then again with it lower.  Easier on the mower and you.  And it only takes about as much time as cutting it short the first time.

And you have to keep that deck underneath clean of clog.

And make sure that blade bolt is tight.

And wear shoes.   Grin

Yes  never  take  full bites..
Don would  weed whack this  area sometimes.
I  always  did  it with the  mower..
But I will NEVER  let it go  for  3 weeks   with rain ever  again..
And  I wear   leather  army boots made  in Italy. Green !

Sadley  my cordless  chain saws  are  both Greenworks, so I would  like  to stay that route..
Really don't  need  20 million different batteries  around..

As  for  the  blade , Don was the  last person to sharpen the  blade, 2  yrs  ago..

Yeah It's  tight I  bet on it...
I  use  a  stick to un clog  the  mower  been mowing for  50+ yrs...
My first mower  was the  rolling push clip  mower.
Then  moved  to a  Horn eclipse I  think that's  what it was  called  it had a  Giraffe  in the  logo..
MTD, and  Honda.. That ya see in the  photo ..
I  only use  the honda  for  cut in and  the  stuff  the  JD can't  do...
The  riders  were  Alis charmer, and  now  a JD (was  a  gift)  from a  GF  that was  moving. and  didn't  want to take  it on her  move.

That was  a great gift 2 yrs ago  , as the  AC  had   spit a  rod  out of  the  engine! 16 yrs  back..
So for  15+ yrs  I  used  only that little  Honda  to mow the  whole  yard.
The  handle  was  to low for  Don, hell it's  almost to low  for  me  !
It can't  be  adjusted  for  some  odd reason.

Well  we  have  gotten 2" of  rain in less than 24h .
I  just got  back in from  cleaning  3  clogged  down spouts !
On my  Fav A frame  wooden ladder, she  can just barely get me  to the   gutters.
2nd  step from the tip top.  I  think she's  a  6 or 7 footer..
And  yes  I  make  sure  it's  good  and  solid  before  I  start up ...
I  even pull and  herkie jerk on it just to make  sure..
It is  the  only ladder  I  tryst .. Other  than my Huge  A frame  one, that take  2  people  to move.

Honestly I would  rather  dangle  my feet off a  cliff  than  climb a  ladder...

Whenever possible, tie the top of the ladder to something, before any work.  Esp if you have to stand on the top rungs.

I was up on a long extension ladder cutting a big limb off.  The limb swung down hard and knocked the ladder out from under me.  But it was tied to the tree on top, so even though my feet came off it, I could still grab on to it to avoid falling to the ground.

Regarding ladders and their safe use, three point contact while climbing up or down the ladder helps prevent falls.

The link below provides a good explanation.

It's  like  80yrs old and  solid.
But easy for me  to move alone .

As  I  have  to do every year..
Fix  my rain barrels..
When ever I  get them down from winter storage  I  always  manage  to hit the Brass Hose Bibb Valve !
So  I  have  to remove  the bibb ,and  re-silicone and  Teflon tape.
But I  need at least 70* and  sun..
So today  was that day...

Now  maybe  tomorrow  I  can get them into place...

Hi L.D. You probably don't recall, but my wife and I met you and Don at one of the early Inzanes in Johnson City. Our deepest condolences to you. On a better note,we were headed to Bluefield from Winston Salem last weekend to ride UTVs, I saw the exit for Bastian and thought I know that from somewhere.  Now I see where! Beautiful part of the country you're in. Hope things are going well on the farm...pretty impressive feat you're pulling off! Anyway, just sayin hi!

Long bloody day, I just hopped out of the shower.
Got 75 pepper plants in the ground 10 Tomatillo's. They are all caged too..
And some marigolds.
Never got the lettuce or Tomatoes in, or beans cabbage or onions..
Squash or Cucumbers..

I remembered why I hated that black fabric .. It takes for ever to plant with it.!
I did rake 3 more rows in the big garden. And got them covered with the black fabric..
Just so the soil stays fluffy... I hope

Tully impressive.  I just dug a couple of wheelbarrows of clay from a place my wife wants to plant some greenery.   Still got many more to go.

I was  hoping to make  a  surprise visit in Wise.
But that's  just not going to happen .
Need  to get more  stuff in the  ground  and  the  next planting  sign day is  Sat !

You be careful with them wheel barrows !
If it  starts  to tip ! Just let it go !
BTDT  with a  load  of  wood  sometime  back.
It's  best to pick the  mess back up than to pull or  strain something...

They say heavy rain all-day. I  have  to get the  truck out and  get cardboard  for  the  gardens. I  use  it  in the  walk ways..
