My shoulders ache for you! I haven’t had a wood burner for 7 years now but I still remember stacking many trailer loads of firewood every fall.

Good job, be toasty this winter.
Used to burn 5 cords a year, sold house 3 years ago, moved into an apartment on a horse farm. Kinda miss it sometimes…..sometimes not…

I'm still here laying low  with a  cold, I  haven't been sick in 4/5 yrs
drinking  green tea,
w/ fresh ground ginger, honey, fresh squeezed lemon , and a pinch of goldenseal. Vicks feet .

It's  finally breaking up.

Glad you are on the road to a full recovery.

I missed some of the other messages showing all the work you did. Very impressed.  I don't have the tools necessary to do that work.

Weill I have a sledge hammer and a "wedge" but, the only time I have used it was to make sure the tree I was taking down fell in the right direction.  Even though I think I know the right to do the chainsaw were cuts.....  The wedge ensures it will fall "that way".

We have an outdoor "stove" and I cheat and purchase the wood we use in it.

Again, as usual, very impressed with your work.

We shall see IF we get that much...

We got the turkey out of the freezer yesterday. Judy made the stuffing last week so preparations are under way. The big snafu in our plans are that my mother is in the hospital and has been for a week. My plan was to go get her and bring her to our house for Thanksgiving but that may not happen. Mother is 96 so we are fortunate to have her still with us. She’s not out of the woods yet but is making progress. God is still blessing her and our family!

Thank You all...

Yeah , it's crazy ....

I have  slowly been prepping food.
I  made  stuffing  , Froze a  bunch, left some out for tomorrow,
Made  dip, Boiled eggs , Tomorrow I  try my hand  at devil eggs again, Don ALWAYS made them.
I  made  a pamelon pie.. Monday or  Tuesday.. Cut it in half and  froze it..
Stopped using pumpkin.years ago.. Pamelon (what the  locals call it )  is smoother creamer and  tastes outstanding. I  still have a few  2cup pulps in the  deep freezer.
But eh , I felt like  using the  fresh, this  year.
This year I  only got 1  fruit off the  plants . But it was just enough for  a  pie.

I  hope  everyone  has an awesome ThanksGiving..

Just look how pretty that and glossy that is....  smitten

I  just didn't feel like  making gravy and  dinner rolls ( horns).
If  Don was here I  would  have   made a   rotisserie   turkey for  him and  gravy..

And many more  hors d'oeuvre and crudité platter.

People  use  to look at me  odd, when I  was checking the  size  of birds..
I would  make a  fist and measure the bird  from the  length Fist to elbow!
That  is how  long a  bird could  be to fit in the  Ronco  rotisserie  2funny
Yuppers true story.. I didn't care  about lbs.. It was all in the  length..

Banana Squash I've heard of.

I'll bet that pamelon is something from the local vernacular.

Do they pronounce it Pamelon or Pa Melon

I'm working in Tazewell this Tuesday, I'll have to ask around and see what they call them.

Hey they are writing about you, I did not realize you were that famous.

https://www.zerohedge.com/weather/searches-cords-wood-hit-record-bold-blast-chills-lower-48

For some folks, why pay for firewood when they own property?

Searches For 'Cords Of Wood' Hit Record As Cold Blast Chills Lower 48

While residents in parts of the Great Lakes region dig out after feet of snow, much of the eastern US faces bitter Arctic air over the next few days. This cold snap has reminded cash-strapped households of the importance of stockpiling cords of wood as Old Man Winter comes knocking.

According to Angie's List, the average price for a cord of wood topped $300 this fall. The cost of the cord ranges from $150 to $500, depending on many factors, including type of wood and geographical location

2funny  I'm very lucky to have a mountain. cooldude
80+ acres .  Full of trees.. Much luckier than most.

Our last farm we had 115 acres and only 80 trees!
We had to buy tandem log truck loads of trees . every few years .
as well as going on friends prop to cut dead trees..
Much cheaper than buying via cords!

With all that said , I still need 2-3 more trees ..
What sux is I don't fell trees.. I have to relay on a friends to fell for me.
I'll only do thin poles that I can push as I cut...

I live in suburbia.  In my daily walks, there is always one home burning wood.  It's a pleasant smell, but the first time I thought a house was on fire.

My home came with a Federal Airtight wood stove in the half submerged basement (living room).  I got some good dry burning wood for it.  I learned right away that in cold weather, if you didn't prime the flu (smoke stack) before lighting a fire, all the smoke came inside (choke).  You only do that once.

Then we discovered that even with only a small fire, and the air vents nearly closed (to keep it slow burning), the dang thing still put out so much heat it ran you clear out of the room (and being naked didn't help either).  It is a small house.

So when it came time to completely refinish and refloor the living room, it was free to a good home.  It also freed up some space down there.

This one (including the old fashioned humidifier).  (Yes, you can have it for free, but I'm not helping you carry it to your truck.)
