Interstate trunk

Need some help.  Just got an interstate trunk, but no key(s).  So, how can I open it?  Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cylinder?

I know I can have a locksmith open it and maybe even make a key....just seeing what other options there are.

I might suggest trying to see if a fellow Interstate rider’s trunk key works.
Suspect many keys are interchangeable, if so, maybe get a copy.

   This happened to me as we got to the DOTS ride (Dragons Over the Smokies)

We could not open the trunk.  3 Members actually took apart the trunk and they found a tiny magnet battery from a kids toy in the lock that was blocking the key.  WTF?  Hard6, Rusty, and Warlock were my saviors that afternoon.  

It took them almost an hour to get it apart and fortunately only a shorter time to put it back together

How it got there is kinda like how the tatoo got on our friend in the Wasted away in Margareetavile song

We rode together to Wheels museum the next day with Rusty, Donna, Warlock, Coolbreeze, Bird and Moonshine ( who stands and turns totally around while taking pics from the back seat) and Magoo who was someone's twin brother.

So the trunk can be taken apart, Take pics of your progress and dont lose any parts

Ask the person you got the trunk from for the key code. It’s a letter and number
on the key from the bike the trunk came from.
A good  Honda shop should be able to make a key for it—at least they used to be able to.

Are you sure the trunk is locked? I never locked mine.

If it isn't locked, it can be opened by the lever on the bottom.

More background info:

I got the trunk from someone who purchased it off Craigslist about 10 years ago.  He tried all the keys he has and none work on the trunk.

It's been sitting on a shelf since then.  No chance to get info from original owner of the trunk. 

The handle underneath moves freely but doesn't open the trunk.  So I assume it's either locked or the handle isn't attached as it should be.

I can make a key myself, but need to have the cylinder out to do so.

Guess it's a locksmith visit.

At least you only have to take the trunk into the locksmith and not a whole bike.

You might want to take in an Interstate shop manual or (trunk) parts diagram along with the trunk.

YES.  This.  The lever on the bottom will open the trunk if it isn't locked.
