American by Birth, Southern by the Grace of God.

Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: July 24, 2010, 05:56:00 AM »

We had 6 bikes show-up for the ride across The Foothills Parkway and US 129 The Dragon . We hooked -up around 6:00 at Paul's ( Wimp ) place in east Knoxville.

We had a high of 95 degree's when we hit the road. We took the long way and made a few stops in the shade along the way ...Not sure what the creek or river is called but everytime we take this route we always stop and check it out.

It started cooling off about the time we hit The Foothills Parkway . We had zero traffic in our way as we crossed FHP . This road is outstanding when you can just roll the power on  Smiley  Shot from one of the over-look's on Foothills Parkway.

We made Deal's Gap before dark and just hung out waiting on the night . This was Big Al's first day of riding since his heart surgery . He did'nt let the down time get him rusty as he and Lucky 13 was feelin' their oats ....Those guys was rollin acoss The Dragon  Shocked

Same shot as above right before we pulled out to sling some sparks in the Tennessee mountains.

You can really appreicate how superior the Interstate lights are over the Standard / Tourer when you are screamin' across The Dragon at night as here again Big Al and Lucky 13 was turnin' them loose ( both on Interstate's ) .
These last two pictures was taken at the Calderwood Dam over-look on the Tennessee side of US 129 The Dragon.

Thanks Chip.

Thanks Joe.

Had a blast on the Dragon.

Rode in all 320 miles. Went up to the Deal's Gap Twice, once in the morning.

Then at 530pm headed out from lucky 13's house to run the Dragon at night.

Did OK on the morning run, 35 mph max the whole 11 miles and back across again.

Stopped to talk to Zee of ZEE PHOTO .com and caught up the lateset Dragon News.

Then there is the night run on the Interstates.

Went across rather sedately and on the way back out went back to my normal let's see

if I can scare all motorists to death mode and Lucky 13 and I had to slow down because our

brake rotors were glowing(NOT REALLY) like in Nascar at night.

Mostly to say we were ok and the others were still in sight. and back at dragging the pegs again.

Here is a Video and me on the Harley at minute 2:05.

Blue Harley and a Face Mask.

With out the face mask , they would have never allowed it in the collection.

My fifteen minutes of fame.

Draggin the hand is a stabilizer and helps save on brake pad wear.

Thanks for watching my famous part in a video Thumper

Missed ya'll this weekend. Made Bryson City Thursday evening and camped at Deep Creek. Great place to go tubing. Looked at real estate parcels for sale around Bryson City Friday morning, then headed towards Coker Creek. Ate a  late lunch at Phillip's Restraunt and headed over the Cherohala. Met a guy on a Ducati that said two were killed on the Cherohala last weekend when a sportbike crasher ran into a group of three riders when he ran out of his lane. Forgot the camera but will do a ride report after I clean up my baby.
