guys,
as a refresher, I had a flat spot in my throttle at about 50 % open., went away if quickly openedto ful throttle. I raised the main needle  to hiighest position, have the 27.5 slow jet, supertrapp piopes with 9 discs and a filter from a raider big air kit. still wants to stall out at mid rainge if i go slowly past it. if i crank it open goeslike a scalded dog. any suggestions? could I have   too much fuel at mid throttle. when taking it apart i looke at the needle and the tapered part didn't show until past mid throttle. like Dan observed you can see where they machined the stock 97 needle to make it active sooner. Thanks in advance.

I can only suggest after 2 years of tuning mine, Try a # 95 needle on the 3rd clip, check your main jet to see if has been drilled? to at least 210..Mine is at 240 maybe that is why i can get away with not having a custom taper needle. but i can tell you this bike will scare the $hit out of you if you are not holding on the first 3 gears! and i can bring it down to 1100 rpm in 5th and smooth as silk on acceleration. give it a try see if this combo works it did for me. leave the 27.5 slow in with this setup. Not sure about street ability (without) the Bypass tube....been reading about the function of the bypass and some think it's necessary for the Blower, but after reading some of the members here having a flat spot on boost transition.....well just going to wait till someone does the same as mine and then start to wonder?  She also has been as high as 36 mpg.

Yes i have the bypass tube. "Google" (Supercharger bypass) and you will have a lot of reading to do....i am reserving my comments but you will see lots on this topic....and i feel your pain! just not sure about the removal of the bypass? been watching this new upgrade closely, i was going to buy the adapter to Delete, but after all i have seen still have no reason so far to remove it......

Something I don't understan(actually many things). Did your kit come with a bypass? from what I understand the bypass is like a self contained relief valve that goes from the high pressure side of the manifold back to the suction? or to the carb inlet, or to atmoshepre. If not with the kit colud you provide some details of what you added and which valve you bought.  What is the boost you have measured on yours? also where did you tap into the manifold to add thebypass. I know I am asking a lot but I'm sure that many guys on this site are interested. Again I have the New style like Dan with the filter and carb close coupled to the blower intake. I would absolutely hate to have to drill into the manifold basically because of those damn four boldts I would haveto take off again. Thanks for all the help.

This is the manifold and bypass i have, it comes down the back of the Blower and has a opening for the tube to go in to the rear, it also has a flange that is mated to the back of the blower, this has No drilling required, your 3rd generation kit has no area to hook in a bypass, Is it possible you could take it to a tuner? I do not have a Boost gauge, too busy watching the road not needed, If your close to Rhode Island i would be happy to help you...That carb you have from Maganacharger should be close to just bolt on but mine was not either when i received it out of the box, Check that main Jet and Try the 95 needle and that is the formula i have, if that doesn't work contact a Dyno shop with a Analyzer to check your fuel ratio while under load, it could be something simple to tune.

Pretty sure that is Bill's Valk motor from Magnacharger, He told me years ago in conversation, Mallory or Excell  off a 6 cylinder car can't remember what 6 banger it was?  been too long  ???

Hey guys one more question. before I go screwing around with a smaller needle, would it make sense to blind of some of my air filter to make it more like the area of the filter that came in the kit and see how it runs and also look at the plugs?

I can't think of a good reason to ever restrict air flow. You just paid a pile of money to stuff more air into the motor, you don't want to choke it off.

jeffK,
you are right. one advantage of what I am doing is I am becoming very good at tearing it down.  In houston though you sweat  just looking at the bike outside. It is hot!! I have a 96 ah 95 needle on order.

Finally got rid of my flat spot. 27.5 idle jet. 95 needle supertrapps  with 9 discs, yamaha raider big air kit filter. Will have to start measuring mialage and reading plugs to finetune.  I will get it dynoed when I am sure it is right Thanks for all the help. the best part is I've learned a lot about the bike in the last several months.

Excellent  cooldude Now go out and enjoy it, I tried the custom taper needle, I had the specs sent to me and had a machinist here cut it  for me, Same results ? that 95 needle has been reliable.
