Without accepting the Lord they will be lost but in each man there is a place that only the Lord can fill which serves as a witness that there is the Lord. Men choose to fill that spot with so many other things. A African chief was very sick to the point of death one night Jesus appeared to him and the chief was healed and accepted Jesus. The cheif still didn't really know who Jesus was except He was the person who healed him. When Missionaries came to that tribe some time later and told them about Jesus the chief said that was the one who healed me.
Another story I am a chief and ruler over my tribes. My influence extends to the waters of the great lakes and to the far blue mountains. I have traveled a long and weary path that I might see the young warrior of the great battle. It was on the day when the white man’s blood mixed with the streams of our forests that I first beheld this chief
I called to my young men and said, “Mark yon tall and daring warrior? he hath an Indian’s wisdom and his warriors fight as we do—himself alone exposed. Quick, let your aim be certain, and he dies.”
Our rifles were leveled, rifles which, but for you, knew not how to miss—’twas all in vain, a power mightier far than we shielded you.
Seeing you were under the special guardianship of the Great Spirit, we immediately ceased to fire at you. I am old and shall soon be gathered to the great council fire of my fathers in the land of the shades, but ere I go, there is something bids me speak in the voice of prophecy:
Listen! The Great Spirit protects that man and guides his destinies—he will become the chief of nations, and a people yet unborn will hail him as the founder of a mighty empire. I am come to pay homage to the man who is the particular favorite of Heaven, and who can never die in battle.
In 1770, George Washington returned to the same Pennsylvania woods. A respected Indian chief, having heard that Washington was in the area, traveled a long way to meet with him.
He sat down with Washington, and face-to-face over a council fire, the chief told Washington the above statement.
God gives witness to who He is to all peoples, But the Bible also says HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!" But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; "THEIR VOICE HAS GONE OUT INTO ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD."
Many are more that are with us than against us. It is not only man that bears witness of who God is. It is not the work of man that allows people to know who God is. Man is only a tool used by God, He has many tools at his disposal it is only man that has these kind of limitations as to what can be done and how. Just think Jesus walked on the water had command over all the elements so do you think we may not know all the ways that God works? Who is man to judge God. Listen and learn. This is what makes learning and spending time with God interesting you begin to expand what is possible and He shares some things that you just go WOW. When God puts that desire in your heart to know Him if you respond to that desire and ask Him and seek Him you will find Him even in the darkest of places. NO man is left out.

OK... so if an "innocent child" dies... he goes to heaven... wouldn't the best thing we could do for them is kill them before the age of accountability? I mean, what's 80 years on this miserable ball of dirt compared to ETERNITY in heaven?
Jabba
Your question reminds me of one I asked a long time ago. Similar to the children question, I asked if people who have never heard of Jesus would still get into Heaven. I wondered if God creates entire tribes in remote areas only to condemn them to a life of torture in Hell. He responded that people who never have the opportunity to hear about Jesus do, indeed, get a free pass into Heaven. I asked why would Christian missionaries go to these remote areas to bring the “Word of God” to these people when doing so could condemn them if they rejected the message. If the purpose of these missions is to help get more people into Heaven, then they should leave well enough alone. He stammered and stumbled and did a “fall back and punt” of reading Bible verses about proselytizing. I have never gotten a straight answer about this since. Hmm? Now that's two things we can agree on. What is this world coming to? I've always said that the whole religion issue is geographical, If you were unlucky enough to be born in the outback of Australia in an aboriginal tribe, or deep in the jungles of South America, even if you were born in Iraq, or India or a whole lot of places where you wouldn't even have the opportunity to learn about Christianity... your soul is automatically doomed to hell. Purely because you weren't lucky enough to be born into "the correct" geographical area. I happen to believe that the Creator is both wise and just. A wise and just Creator would make provisions so that ALL His children would have the opportunity to return to Him. He wouldn't condemn an innocent child nor a remote aboriginal tribe simply because they didn't have the opportunity to hear His word and accept Him. A wise and just Creator would make accommodations for these, and would provide ALL His children with the opportunity to hear and accept His word. The Creator in whom I place MY faith and trust has made these accommodations. He is wise and just.

While our slaying of the innocent child would ensure that child's entrance into the presence of the Creator (I say this authoritatively), it would work to our condemnation. Among the divine commandments accepted by all (or nearly all) of the world's major religions is "Thou shalt not shed innocent blood" (This is a more correct translation of the commandment that is usually recited as "Thou shalt not kill. Can you see the difference?) So slaying an innocent child would be the shedding of innocent blood, and would work to our condemnation, without having any effect on the "salvation" of the innocent child.

But the taking of innocent life is forbidden by the Creator. That stewardship is His and His alone. I doubt that he would honor one who usurped His stewardship, disobeyed His direct command and shed innocent blood. I cannot speak definitively as to how He would judge in individual cases, but I would not take the risk. Maybe I'm just not selfless enough to kill innocent children (Using absurdity to illustrate the absurd).

I think I am leaning toward believing that there are multiple paths to the afterlife, if there is one. I don't believe that that a majority of professed Christians are actually going. Nor a majority of any other for that matter, but I can't reconcile that people who live their lives in honest effort to make the world a better place for having been in it, will end up punished for eternity because they were indoctrinated by the wrong religion.
Here's something I have never been able to figure out. Jehova's Witnesses believe (I think) that the spots in heaven are of a limited number. And only the best "X" number of souls get to go. yet they proselytize for new members of their church. Wouldn't that be working against their own best interest?

Regarding your first paragraph: If there are multiple paths to Heaven, then Christianity as contained in the Bible cannot be one of them -- because Christ (as he is quoted in the New Testament) must be a liar (or misquoted). He states "I am the way and the truth and the light. No man cometh to the father except through me." So if there are multiple paths then he is either wrong, misquoted or lying. Regarding the JW question, I've heard the same thing, that only 144,000 will be saved (according to their doctrine). I would need to have this explained and your question answered by someone of that faith. But it doesn't seem right that there should be a "competition" for a limited number of slots in heaven. And your question about why missionary work is done to increase that competition, well, that's a pretty good question. One that should be answered by someone of that faith.

Again God doesn't 'condemn' any of us to Hell from the start. He gives us ALL the choice of Heaven or Hell, YOU decide where YOU want to go. You can't choose for anyone else, they can't choose for you. And it's not a 'free pass' as you say. It's just that the price has been paid. The missionaries go because that is the great commission. Go unto all the world and spread the good news. What if the tribe had only heard of the 'Church of Oprah'? They would need to hear the truth!

Bottom line questions: Exactly what does it take to get into "heaven"? Is "being a good person" enough, or is something else required? I think this has already been answered. Sell everything you have, give the money to the poor. Work 2 jobs, and a part-time, and donate all your checks to charity. Help little old ladies across the street. Never EVER say anything bad, demeaning, or negative to or about anybody or anything. Spend every spare second helping somebody do something. Do this from the time you are born (or at least from the time you learn to walk and talk) until the day you die and it still won't be enough to get your spirit/soul into Heaven when your earthly body ceases to function. Or, you can live your life doing some good and some bad, and one day lift your eyes and heart toward Heaven and say "Father God, I believe you sent your Son, Jesus, to earth to live and die as a man. To die on the Cross as punishment for MY sins. I accept you now, Jesus, as my Lord and Saviour." And there's some other good stuff that goes with it, but that's it in a nutshell. Some may disagree on the exact wording, but as long as it's accepting Jesus and what He did for us, ALL of us, that's the way to spend eternity in a very good place as opposed to a very bad one.

I believe Benny Hinn is a false prophet... a $cammer... a hypocrite... a real trickster...
-Mike I pretty much agree. Took my wife to see one of his 'shows' in Nashville several years ago. I trust him about like I trust Uncle Obama. I'm not saying Faith can't heal ( I've seen it and experienced it!!) but I just don't believe I'd ever send Mr Hinn a 'love offering'. YMMV (They did have some GREAT music, though )

But so many Christians believe that they’re forgiven no matter what, just because they cry “jesus, forgive me…..” they can do what ever they want. That’s the hypocrisy of Christianity. Once saved, always saved. You can kill anyone you want, just as long as you “love jesus”. You're almost right. That's the hypocrisy of some Christians, NOT Christianity as a whole. Once you really accept Jesus you don't WANT to sin. He takes away the 'sin nature'. Not saying you'll be perfect after that. But you'll want to do the best you can. Besides, just because God forgives you for killing anyone you want, I doubt you'll get that kind of leniency from the district attorney!!

10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. salvation is a free gift of God. Jabba, you and others did nothing and can never do anything to get it. Its free from God, no works, otherwise men can boast over other men. All He asks of us is to repent that we are sinners and to accept His Son Jesus the Christ by repenting of our sins and asking for forgiveness of our sins and for staying away from Him for so long. Then ask for an infilling of the Holy Spirit which will be given freely to u by the Christ, to guide you and change u to be Christ like. (Ephesians 2 below for the above) here is a good site that will answer many questions http://www.christiananswers.net/ http://www.josh.org/site/c.ddKDIMNtEqG/b.4023555/k.BE5B/Home.htmAs a young man, Josh McDowell considered himself an agnostic. He truly believed that Christianity was worthless. However, when challenged to intellectually examine the claims of Christianity, Josh discovered compelling, overwhelming evidence for the reliability of the Christian faith. After trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, Josh’s life changed dramatically as he experienced the power of God’s love. Ephesians 2 Made Alive in Christ 1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. God Bless all of you.

Jabba I think if you are a good person and treat people the way you would want to be treated. You can believe what you want to believe. Who is to say whos religion is the right one. I think if you believe in something higher then yourself then you are already there. I am a catholic raised that way. I do not practice anymore because I have become more then alittle perturb with the church. In the catholic faith you must have a sponsor for confermation. My nephew wanted me to be his sponsor. I was told I was not in good standings with the church. I asked how that could be. It was because I had not given enough money to the church for the year. I have only been back a couple of times since then. I believe in one god and I always will . How you show that is up to you. As for the jews being the chosen people I do not believe god picks one group of people over another. I believe the old testement was written in story form so that people who were not as educated at the time could understand it. Just my two cents. Jabba you believe what you want to believe just believe in something.

Jabba,
There are libraries filled with books on these topics and no one on an internet forum has the time or space to fully address your questions. Me, I'm a Spirit filled born again christian. It's who I am and why I exist. Wasn't always the case, that's for sure. Sorry but 'all roads DO NOT lead to salvation. You can't pick your own way and decide on your own you're a 'good person' and make heaven. That's called universalism and it's a lie from the pit of hell.
Truth is; everyone will make heaven. You will either stand before the judgement seat of Christ or you will stand before the great white throne. One line and you stay in heaven, the other and you will be dismissed.
Another truth is that everyone lives forever. We have the power to choose where we'll spend eternity. Doesn't matter if you personally believe the bible or not for it to be true. Even satan believes it and knows it's true. No ones opinion on God matters one wit to my salvation. Only my personal relationship with Christ. He made all that is seen and unseen and they're His rules. So it's His way or we blaze our own path to hell acting as our own god thinking we're good based on our own standard.
You may not believe in God but know this; He believes in you and wants to have a relationship with you. Many, even those who profess to be christians, think the bible is a story book or just a book meant to control people. Nothing could be further from the truth. The bible is the word of God Himself and is an instruction manual for life and success. Anyone who sees it as simply a book of rules hasn't spent the time or instruction to know what they're talking about.
Read one book called A Case For Christ by Lee Stroebel. I've given away many of these over the years and will gladly send you one if you like. But also know this. God never forced Himself or coerced anyone to believe. He's a gentleman and will not force Himself on you. We have free will. We can submit to Him and live or live our own life as we want to.
One more thing; the best case scenario, biblicallly, is that only 50% of those who 'know' Christ will make heaven eternally. Yes, there are many false prophets, liars, swindlers and hirelings that claim to know things. That's why the bible itself says to study to show yourself approved and so you'll know the truth (and lies) when you hear it. Sadly, most churches today barely use the bible anymore and many more are ashamed of the Holy Spirit. That's why I said in another post to find a bible based church where bible doctrine NOT church doctrine is preached, taught and lived out. Don't expect the church to be perfect because it won't be. There won't be any perfect people in the place.
And remember this; there are many, many prophets of the land but very, very few prophets of the Lamb. All the best,
Mark

Speaking of books, a popular book out is How to Profit from the Coming Rapture (how to get ahead when you're left behind). A must read for all unsaved investors.

Its nice to see all the posts of those that love Christ and not afraid to speak out. In all there is no way to explain the real joy that comes from knowing Him. Thats not religion but relationship its a adoration of the one that constantly supports, touches and strengthens us. Religion tells you what you have to do to achieve peace,,,,,,,,, relationship says come here and spend time with me and Ill give you peace. Religion you do all the work,,,,,,,, relationship Jesus does the work. If you look at all the posts you see people with a heart for someone else to come to know what they know not out of command but out of a appreciation and joy that all should know what we/they know. Not a burden but a lifting of spirit and knowing that when its beyond us its not beyond Him. Yes for thousand of years they tell us that it is the end of times that this is it but only God knows the time. No mans words can convince of the Love of Jesus, it is a thing between mans heart and God. If you feel led to find Him then try, Ask thats all ask. Men have for centuries tried reason, distort use and just plain command God and all have failed. But Jesus said come as a little child do you remember this far back? Do you remember when things were new and you were open to learn new things? I think that is the reason some have to get into some very bad places in order to come to Him because you have to come to the place where you realize that your not finding want you wanted out of life. I have so many stories of how God has touched people and reached into lives and changed them. If nothing else you see that there are real people out there that do believe in God and that do love Him. Anyone can find enough excuses not to come to God but I say until you do come you have no idea how Good He really is. He is the Way the Truth and Life the giver of life. I would encourage all who call themselves Christians to explore the depth of your relationship with Christ. Ask for spiritual gifts and callings that you have on your lives. There are some with healing and prophecy and just so many gifts out there the possibilities are endless. I encourage you to get closer and ask for these gifts and wisdom how to use them. You will move mountains and family situations that have never changed will come around. Keep pressing in for family and friends let the true witness be the love of Christ and His glory shine through you. So I do believe differently than most I see the world through the Bible I know what God can do. Science is not a threat, knowledge is not threat the unknown is not a threat if God is who He says He is then why would any Christian need to stop all these things? The only things that are a threat are the things that lead to mans moral demise things that we do that are not good for us. I cant go into all the reasons why but there are reasons that have never really been learned by most and this is where a greater understanding of how things happen makes a difference. There are 2 ways to make changes the worlds way or on your knees. LISTEN TO THE WORDS
Dont let anyone cheat you out of what is rightfully yours. If your tired ask Him to refresh you, if your lonely ask Him for friendship, If you have a problem ask Him see if it changes.

Kit is religous. Hard to tell if you know her , but she is. She hates when we talk religion together cause I am like Jabba, have alot of questions like his. She always gets pissed at me when I try to prove a example another way. I was raised catholic and went from birth till a short time before my divorce, to church. Havent been there in 6-7 yrs. While I do believe in god, I have become a more 'fact' guy then a 'well it says so right here' kinda person. My way of thinking is this. No one groups/ counties religion is more better then another groups religion. Being a muslum is no better then a christians religion. It depends where you are from and what you believe. Anyone can interpet the bible saying many different ways, so who is right? If you do not believe in god then there will be no hell for you to go to. Cant believe one and not the other. I do not rag on anyone for what they believe. Jabba remember this and Kit hates it when I say it, 'Never trust a preacher with a boner'.

Jesus spoke in parables so that those who could understand (those whose hearts were ready to receive the truth) could understand the simple, everyday symbols that he used. And so that those who weren't ready to receive the truth would not be condemned -- they wouldn't understand the meaning of the parable so they wouldn't be held responsible for what they could not understand. It helps if you understand the mathematical concept of "parabola" (the same root word). Related to parabolas (parables) are the concepts of focal points, parallel rays that meet at the focal point and relative distances from the focal point. (Do the math!)

Parabolas are not parallel rays, they are a set of points equidistant from a point and a line. I knew 4 quarters of calculus would come in handy one day. -RP

Maybe if you were versed in Biblical mathematics, you would understand. Biblical mathematics also describes pi (ratio of diameter to circumference of a circle) as 3.00000000000, while those of us who are not ready to “receive the truth” know it as 3.141592653589.

Simple. Not believing in God does not prove/disprove the existence of Hell.
