Merry Chanukah and Happy Christmas

I see nothing wrong with wishing someone...anyone, a Happy Holiday.  It includes everything and everyone.  If you are so shallow that you really need for someone to specifically verify your own particular religion at a time of year when other religions are also knee deep in celebration then find someplace where only your religion is observed.  If not, get used to the fact that we are a multi-everything country.  We should acknowledge and celebrate ALL our differences.  If I know your religion, I will narrow my greeting towards it, if not, Happy Holiday will be extended.  If this offends you, I'm not sorry, but I do feel sorry for you.
(not directed to anyone in particular.......so, Happy Holidays to you all)

I think perhaps it is more shallow to disregard what the holiday is, or at least was, for more years than you and I are old. And it certainly is shallow to belittle those who want to continue it. It is Christmas-period.
I feel sorry for you for your need to be politically correct. I feel sorry also that this has become a topic.

To wish someone “Happy Holidays” is not disregarding Christmas, it is inclusive of that holiday.  I’m guessing most people say Happy Holidays because they realize that people celebrate or observe other traditions at this time of year.  Suggesting that someone says this merely to be politically correct belittles that person.

lol...I agree with G-man. When I say Happy Holidays I'm thinking about Christmas (which I celebrate with gusto and smokin' hot plastic  Shocked Cheesy ) , New Year's, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and.... the U.S. Constitution ...which guarantees all of us freedom of religion NOT  "freedom as long as you worship like we do." Bless our forefathers.  cooldude

True, Christmas represents Jesus’ birth, even though it is simply a Pagan celebration that was integrated into Christianity to make it more acceptable to the Pagans.

No one is trying to subvert or disrespect Christmas when they say “Happy Holidays”.

Do you consider it disrespectful of other religions and cultures that Christmas Day has been expanded into the “Christmas Season” which intrudes on other religious observances?

From my last trip to the local mall I would say Dec 25th has become about everthing else but Christ birth...and I believe most historians do not believe he was born on Dec 25th...

Really?  Jesus was born on December 25?  There is no scripture that suggests that date.  Nothing in the Bible to suggest he was born on that date or in Bethlehem, either.

While we're at it:  There is no biblical reference to three wise men, no reference to a manger, and no reference to a star so bright.  It's all made up.  A fairy tale.

Fact of the matter is that Christmas is a made up holiday... the date coincides with the Pagan winter solstice rites.  Santa is a German invention.  Christmas tree... no reference in the Bible... but many Pagan references.  No wise men.  No manger.  No Bethlehem.

Happy Christmas!

I am not insulted by people wishing me Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday or anything

I mean lets get real, when I show up at Inzane or any event what I first  hear is OH $HIT ITS OSS  Sad Undecided time after time   Now if someone gets his butt all puckered because someone says happy holiday instead of merry christmas I say lighten up at least its a FRIENDLY greeting Wink

But anyways  I do wish all of you who happen to celebrate the day, whether because you have been baptized or just because you are a christian denomination or even if you just get the day off

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS and God bless the country which lets us celebrate whatever floats our boats and ride our bikes in freedom  Nobody kills you in THIS country for celebrating or worshiping or not worshiping

Funny…  I always thought Christmas Spirit was charity, generosity, loving others, gratefulness, humility, and rejoicing.  I never realized it included grumbling about how someone expresses their holiday wishes.

to "strong eagle", if you can get your hands on a copy of the Holy Bible, I suggest you take a look at Micah 5:1 and 2 (prophesied only 750-840 years before Jesus' birth in Bethlehem. Luke 2:4,15 as well as Matthew 2:5-8. As far as the manger, Luke 2:7,12,16. As far as the Star, Matthew 2:2,9. I will give you the benefit of the doubt on the 3 wise men. The bible actually never gives a number, that is folk lore but you can read it in Matthew 2:1.
I am willing to bet you do not have a bible, will not get a bible and certainly never open one. You sir are a pitiful man, and I feel sorry for your close mindedness. But hey, I have been wrong before and would love to see you in Heaven one day. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, laid in a manger, a Star shone above him and wise men came to see this King of Kings. Wise men and Women still seek Him.
One day even you will confess Jesus is Lord, even if it is too late.

Merry CHRISTmas,
buffalobill

You don't know sh*t about me, Buffalo Bob.  Pitiful?  Close minded?  I suggest, sir, that you are speaking of yourself.  I'll bet Jesus and I would be drinking buddies.

You have to do a lot of 'interpretation' to reach the conclusions that you do.  You should read something about how the bible was created, and how each of the key authors, Luke, Matthew, Mark, and John, had a target audience and a personal message.  But I know you'll never do that as it might force you to take off your blinders.

As for your bet... pay up... give something to a charity in the spirit of Christmas generosity because you're plain damn wrong.

To all: please ignore the two individuals who seem to have high jacked this thread as well as the rest the board just to be spiteful of the rest of us. Please do not respond back to their posts until they start respecting what others think and say. Even if they don’t believe in what is said, it don’t make it right to be rude in their posts. There are ways to post their believes and/or view points without being rude, so ignore them until they learn how to be respectful to others. Thank you

Very respectfully........I don't see where this thread was hijacked.  The original post declared this time of year for the observance of one, and only one holiday, by one, and only one religion.  Do you really think that it would go unrebutted?

Happy Holidays to EVERYONE!
