Seems high to me also.  I've got the same100/300/100 with 15k for accessories. My deductible is 1,000 though.  I pay $550+/- with Foremost Ins.  Montgomery Co. Tx

Personal Injury Protection  2,500...............................242.00

There's your problem. That's a bs amount for an insignificant coverage. 10% of the value for premium!

Drop it.

mines $318 full all year, but must be in a garage and I have auto's with them. I assume you added your bike to your auto policy?

When I had 2 bikes it cost the same for 2 as one, maybe it is still the same. I questioned it and they said I could only ride one, I explained my wife or friends would ride, no matter, I could not ride 2 at once. I ask why am I paying for 4 cars and only 2 drivers in the house?

+1 for Foremost.  Very reasonable price and good coverage.

Do you have ZERO deductible?

If so, that is your problem.

I got the same coverage on my bike, and it is $238 every 6 months.
I'm 78 and a tad bit higher rate for the age.

Oh yeah, what Daniel said to get rid of, I don't have on my policy.   Looks like everything else is about the same, I have $500 deductible..

I have Foremost I think.

I was told they don't offer new policies any more.  I have been grandfathered in on my standard $250 / year.

When I added the IS it is $500 a year.  I bitched.  They said they had to write it thru a different company.  They did NOT back down.

yet... I can only ride one...

I pay $310 a year for similar coverage and a $250 deductible. Will be dropping down to $225 every year when I renew my policy to reflect my uh... mature age, apparently. 24 - 25 is worth $85 on the bike I guess. Where do you live? Your rate might be higher because of where you're located. But your insurance seems outrageously high.

That figure seems huge to me.  I posted this topic a few months ago and found that costs were all over the board.  I stuck with Progressive for the 2nd consecutive year, and with a discount, came in at $238 for the years.  I went with upper limits on all the coverage.  Shop around!

I was paying far too much myself.  Then I let the insurance agent at the dealer where I bought my bikes have a go at it.  I now have better coverage, and on 2 bikes for about 2/3 of what I was paying for 1 previously.

Moral: Find yourself a local agent that specializes in bikes.  Here in Florida some coverages can be put on the Automobile policy for much less then on the bike policy.  But pretty much no one knows about that except the insurance agents specializing in bikes..........

Insurance is very regional regarding rates.  They also often use your credit score to assign rates.  This seems like a really unfair practice, yet the laws allow them to do so.

I have switched 2 times in 3 years.  First year, State Farm ~$1500 for 3 bikes, bundled with home and 2 autos.  Shopped around, and got Foremost for $1050 for 3 bikes. (Valkyrie, Rocket 3, and VTX 1300)

This year, shopped again and got Progressive for $650 for 3 bikes as a stand alone policy without home and auto bundling.  This is liability and collision on all 3 bikes.

There's no real rhyme or reason, but it does pay to look around.

BTW, my coverages are almost identical to yours except $10k for PIP.

i would suggest you up your uninsured/underinsured coverage up to the limit of your liability.  you can be sure that whatever cage negligently injures you is NOT going to have adequate insurance.  will up your cost some, but could be the best value for your $$$ on your policy.  cooldude

I switched to State Farm from Progressive and the insurance went down about $150.00 and also included passsenger and trailer coverage . When I was rear ended , I had no trouble with Progressive on my claim. I also have a streetrod and was insured with Haggerty (a speciality company) and state Farm gave me a better deal. When we put all our vehicles in, we got another discount.   da prez

I've posted this before and perhaps it is not a good idea for many people, but you should carefully consider your risk before choosing your coverage.

Of course, as with a cage, liability (and scumbag ambulance chasers) is your biggest risk, the sky's the limit.  I carry 300K/500K on my car, because I risk everything I own every time I leave the driveway.  Though, I have not had an at fault accident in over 30 years, and never on a bike.  I do carry a 1K deductible accordingly on my car.

I do believe the risk of being found at fault (liable) for other cars and occupants, property, and pedestrian injuries  to be substantially less on a bike.  I believe the greatest liability risk on a bike is to your own passenger, ie you are at fault and you kill or maim her.  I almost never carry a passenger.  You rarely hear of a bike hitting a car and totaling it and/or seriously injuring the occupants.  There is the possibility of riding in such a way (recklessly) as to be found at fault in a multicar crash where the bike did not get touched, but someone got your plate.

I have never wrecked a bike (dirtbike crashes excluded), and last fell down in the road in 1971, so I carry no comprehensive collision coverage on my own bike, ever, even new from the dealer (paid cash, no loan).  If the other guy is at fault, his insurance will pay for my damage.

I carry no medical, because I have medical insurance separately.

My bikes are locked up in a shed in a back yard fully enclosed by a solid 7' fence with locked 8' gates, and lights.  I rarely leave my bike anywhere for any length of time, except maybe the occasional motel parking lot (and I use double locks; forks and caliper), and always get a room with my bike right outside.  I don't cover theft... or fire.

So with this in mind, I have for over forty years, carried only the minimum liability required by State law, and uninsured motorists where required (as in VA).  No fire, theft, comprehensive, collision, medical.  Add to this the discounts for having renewed for many years with one company, no accidents, maybe a moving violation every few years (though only two on a bike, ever), MSF completion, old age (over 50), touring bike, and my rates are the best I know.  And, I've never been sorry either.  YMMV
