Hello everyone,
I am new here. I have been riding for years, but have just recently began living "the dream." I bought a '98 Valk in November. Soon after, I joined VRCC. My question is this: Does anyone know where I can get my hands on an 11" VRCC Texas patch, or two? I have been looking around, but haven't seen a place to purchase them. On the nationwide site, I saw where I could purchase a generic VRCC patch, but I really want to have the Texas patch. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, The Squid

Hello Mr S! Welcome to the VRCC. The Houston area chapter has the monthly dinner meeting coming up this week. I'm not not sure about a specific Texas patch. Someone on the board will post info here undoubtly. Be sure and come to the GOTF BBQ the first weekend in April

Welcome Mr Squidly! To my knowledge, there are no 11" Texas patches. However, there are 4" Texas patches. Are you going to the Gathering of the Fools? http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,25599.0.html If so, look me up - I'll bring some. DFG

Hey folks.... Patches on the back of shirts, vests or jackets that designate territory..ie. Texas, or any other location, are not to be worn here at the BBQ or on the ride. I hope you will remove them while here out of repect for my feelings. Has to do with issues with 1% MC clubs.... especially if you go to Galveston.... and I REALLY don't want Your actions to bring grief to me and my family........ It has happened before.... and is the reason I do not post an address for the BBQ. It happened about 11 years ago.... and I all but quit doing the BBQ's over it.... not a pleasant experiece at all. We have had no issues since..... and would like to keep it that way.
Thanks hotglue

Sorry about that, HG. I knew about the Galveston experience with the 1%ers, but thought that applied only to the big patches and/or rockers. Didn't know it applied to the small patches, too.

The small patch on front should not be an issue.... I say 'should not'. A big patch on back...club name 'color'.... especially with a location could get ya some grief.

I had been looking for a big Tx back patch too - until now. I hadn't really thought about it as colors. Thanks for the heads up, wouldn't want trouble over something that seems innocuous to 99%. Jim

No problem with the Texas flag....It is the club patch with a location the MC's have a problem with..They take it as a claim to territory. I have State patches and from Canada on my vest... and it's not an issue..... but no club patch.

It is called the Councel of Clubs, they take these things very seriously! Southern Cruisers just got national approval 3-4 years ago. If you want to put a club name or territory, you have to have local (state) approval by reigning CofC club.
It is what it is. Not that it is right.

Not to rehash old misery, but I think the Six Guns had paid dues to the COC. On Galveston it DOES NOT MATTER, Bandidos will not tolerate any rockers or anything resembling a rocker on the island.

Squidly, I live in Huffman just across lake houston we need to get together with Keepinon(Porter) and Blotar (Crosby) and do some riding and eating soon. Is you handle Navy related? if so I was also a squid in the early 70s.

Mr Bubbles A VRCC patch without a location indicated should not be a problem...... but might not be good to wear it on Galveston Island.... or parts of Galveston county to and from. I really hate that this can be an issue..... I like the patch!!!!! But going into 'claimed territory' wearing a patch.... even with out rockers.. or a locale ....can lead to problems.... I just don't want someone to have issues while here at the Gatherin......

I haven't heard of any incidences due to wearing a patch on your vest in the last 10 yrs or so. If there have been I'd like to hear about them. I don't wear patches but just curious as to why would the Banditos feel threatened by a riding club?
The only time I've heard of any problems was I think it was a small group of Goldwing Riders in a riding club in Bandera Texas about 15 yrs ago and they had on some kind of their clubs riding insignia on the back of their vests and in a restaurant in Bandera a couple Banditos came over to their table and told the guys they were going to take their vests away from them.....a couple guys in the Goldwing Group told them "only if you can get past my 357." Problem solved.

I guess you would need to ask them. If someone thinks threatening them with a gun is a good idea...... do it at YOUR house... not mine....I would hate to think that something that happened here would make it 'open season' for folks with a VRCC patch.... pretty much nation wide. Bike riders can ride ALL over Galveston with no problems...... unless you are wearing something that they think are colors..... and that is their decision as to what is colors..... not your's. The ride will be GREAT!!!!! and all can have a good time.... with NO issues!!!!!!! Just use your head.

Once again, I don't wear patches, just my personal preference. And if I did and was confronted in a restaurant with other people with families and a Bandito came over to TAKE MY VEST away with him..........in the concern of other people I'd offer to go outside and take it off and store it on my bike while in the vacinity.
I'd have a major problem with him taking my vest with him.

Don't stay home. Just leave your jacket at home or in the hotel room or in the saddlebag. Trust me, you really don't want to miss the GOTF or the VRCCers who ride in from all over the US. Besides... I've already seen Friendswood. I used to live there... Yeah, but have you seen this? If memory serves, that's 27 briskets...

In MY opinion, all of this talk about patches is way overblown. The 1% club in Texas doesn't give a sh_t about our VRCC patches. We are a riding club not a motorcycle club. They could care less about us. You may have lived here but did you ever go to the GOTF's? It will be your loss if you miss this event. If you give respect you get respect. I've never had a problem anytime I've been to the GOTF's. Come and have a good time. Thanks to Mark and and his lovely bride for putting on this event year after year. I can't wait.

It just erks me to to allow a few hoodlums mandate what I can and cannot do... no matter how wonderful the payoff. No I have not been to GOTF... I have however seen many many briskets roasting vertically in a similar manner. I am after all... native Texan. My name is actually William Travis. I lived in Friendswood far, far before the Valkyrie was even a dream and I am actually a Quaker, (the founders of Friendswood,) which is becoming even more rare these days. I understand what I'll be missing. The sad fact is that GOTF comes a bad time for me. It is too close to my usual spring break ride and not far enough into the summer to be a summer ride. I am a teacher and I am therefore bound to the schedule of the almighty school district. So once spring break is over... it's heads down and noses to the grindstone until June... this is the way of things for teachers. So don't think it is entirely the patch issue... it's mostly a date conflict caused by the fact i have just come in off a six day ride to Big Bend... ( http://culleynet.com/) which I have been doing for 30 years.

WOW I've bee riding a motorcycle on an off for 40 years plus. I was just blown away about this patch thing. Been to Bandera a few times both on my Harley and the Valk, and a number of other places in Texas...Never knew anything close to what was being discussed here. I guess I do live under a rock.

Everyone has always called me Travis... I had an uncle Bill and that just saved lost of confusion. I lived on Lottie Lane... behind what used to be the Kroger store... if you leave the big light at 518 and 2351 headed to Pearland... it is the very first left... a little cul-de-sac. Modest... but we liked it!
