For me its the ZX14, had it to 180 and it was still pulling hard.  These things have done 200+ basically stock.  I know that turboed it and the Hayabusa can do much better, but then finding a place to run is a problem.

It was owned by a neighbor's son, and he let me take it out. That's the last time I rode a crotch rocket. It certainly was quicker than my riding abilities.  Shocked

believe it or not I had considered one as a second bike and at 52 years old, I passed (gas) and the idea faded as well. Would love to throttle one up just one time though. My oldest has a Yamaha YZR1 I would love to get on but .... I'll leave that kinda speed to the youngsters.

It was a snortin Norton, referred to as the Widow Maker.

Little skinny tires, brakes that weren't worth a sheet, electrical system that sucked.

I heard it was supposed to do 150 out of the box, and this was in 53 or 54.    My fur getter done fur got however.     I only owned it about 3 months.    When I sold it, I hadn't received the plates or the title from the California DMV in Sacramento.

It would get up to 120 real quick, but it sure damn well took it a long time with those brakes to stop it.......

Huffy 10 speed going down the Rabbit Ears pass into Steamboat Springs at 70+. Brakes almost weren't enough to make the last curve.

The fastest bike I've been on would have been my Hayabusa, until I got the '09 VMax.  However, I've never had either of them in triple digits.  So far, anyway.  The fastest I've ridden on a bike, to date, would have been on my Rune.

I like power, but I don't like tickets.

I doubt it.  I've never had the Valk much over 110.  Nor the Rune much over 125.  I rarely ride triple digits.  But I love having the ability to get the h*** out of the way when I need to.

CBR 1100 XX.  It was a 1997 model with a carb.  The MoDot HP clocked it at, better not say, twice between Kansas City, MO. and St. Louis.  My buddy that works for MODot said he heard the call and they told them "do not pursue."  I was stayin' at his place and took a ride toward Kansas City with my new helmet.  He didn't know it was me until he saw the helmet they described.  Remember the Dragon helmet that Shoei made years ago?  When I saw how late it was I cranked the throttle and headed home.  At those speeds I never look at the speedo, I just look way out in front.  That old story about the dotted line not havin' any dots is true.  Just won't say the speed so nobody tries to top it.

That was the bike that almost killed me.  It wasn't the bike's fault I passed out from low blood sugar.  But I want to tell you, hittin' trucks at those speeds hurts.  Now I think RJ might remember the speed, because I posted it once, when i was young and foolish.   uglystupid2  I pray nobody tries any of the stunts I have done on a motorcycle.

And, a blown Valkyrie is very fast also.  trust me. cooldude

I ain't sayin nuttin Buddy..........

Yes, I do remember the speed you told me.

I was amazed that you were alive to tell the story when I heard it.....

OH, I forgot about my Kawasaki ring a ding ding 2 stroke.   The one you wanted headed in the direction of travel on take off...

It got into the triple digits real quick also.

NONE of our CHP bikes had much get up and go except for the Moto Guzzi, and the Kawa 1000, I think it was a KZ1000, not sure on that model #.    It was the bike they built especially for Law Enforcement.

ZX11.
Had triple digit speeds in a few seconds in third gear.
Would be great for making time through the desert, with no speed limits or traffic.
I prefer my valk.
I can be comfy all day long and drudge along at 135.

I rode a friends KZ1400, but I behaved myself.. it was probably the fastest bike I every rode, but like I said, I was well behaved.

When I was young, I bought one of these for $1300 brand new. It was very/scary fast. It would pick the front tire up in the first couple gears even when not trying to. I was young, stupid and very lucky I am alive. I didn't get crazy on it a lot, and quickly moved to more rideable 4 stroke bikes.

With a RC Engineering Cobra 900 kit, with sprocket work. A slug by todays standards but oh baby it was quick back then! 147 mph was the fastest I got it to on Rt 684 @ 2:AM coming home from "The Fore & Aft" in Brewster.

1985 V65 Magna, the only new bike I've ever owned.

You didn't nave to get off and push her around corners but she didn't corner well, however 0 to 100 was fast. She had enough torque to leave a stop with a passenger at idle without stumbling. She would wheelie at 70 even when you didn't want to and was comfortable enough for multi-state road trips.

If I remember correctly she could keep the rear tire smoking and front tire lofted through 1'st, and would relight and re-loft when you banged 2'nd. I think it redlined in 2'nd at 77mph with 4 gears to go although it probably had a higher top speed in 5'th than in OD. I never had it much past 130 because of a headshake issue (might have been caused by the windshield?) but I never started it without seeing 100 either.

The handling was kind of scary on that scooter. When you'd light up the tire you never knew if it would suddenly hook up and try to drive you head into the pavement with the gastank. I had to tap the rear brake more than once to get the front end back on the ground and then it came down like I'd been dropped out of a bomber. Grin She wasn't fast by today’s standards but she kept my adrenaline maxed till the ol'lady and I were out of work after the Duc Man was born and I had to sell her.

By the way, that scooter lived in the living room when I was single and got cleaned up daily while I watched TV with the sound turned down and the stereo blasting. Course, I was a pup then.

I rode the son 2005 Hayabusa once, didn't like it and I didn't get it up to triple digits.  I also rode a Kaw  Z900 in my younger year that was really quick.

My 2000 I/S - had it to 125mph on a bridge into Oklahoma.  This is where the really fast sports bikes go to throttle up.  I wasn't as fast as they were, but the Valk was still pulling when my brain kicked in and I backed it down.  Never close to that fast since.

Had a car to 145 but that was a Winston Stock Car at Las Vegas Speedway at one of those Richard Petty schools.   I rode in one at 180 but they would not let me drive that fast. Probably a really smart thing on their part!

The V-65 Magna will still put a lot of bikes to shame.  I have one with about 40,000 miles on the odo.  When I had it in Germany it was no problem to cruise on the autobahn at 130 MPH, and on a poker run two weeks ago when the Harley guys wanted to play "Go Fast" it went from last to first in the pack of 20 or so bikes in no time.  It's faster than my Valk, but not as comfortable for long rides.

87 Yamaha V-Max.  Only bike I ever rode that I was afraid of Shocked
The day I test rode the V-max I ended up buying a new 87 Yamaha Venture Royale.  The design of the fairing on the Venture pushed the front end down at 75-80 mph  you could actually feel the supension compress a little.  With front end tight you could cruise at 115 and it felt like 60.  The Venture would wheelie in a heartbeat, My wife was with me for the test ride.  I told to hang on I wanted to see what it would do.  WHen I put the Front wheel back down on the ground she put her head on my shoulder and said "Your buying this ain't you!".  Disabled the electronic antidive and put progressive in the front and I could tear the foot pegs off in the turns.  I never had another bike that I liked as much untill the Valk.  The second generation Venture was no compairison to the first.  Was looking at wings before I bought the Valk.

A very scary friend of mine had a 73 CB-750 with 1026 road race kit and turbocharger, a 16" HD wheel strung on the rear with sheet metal screws in the bead to keep the tire from spinning on the rim. (high tech for 1974) I rode it one time. My eyes were watering, death grip on the bars trying to hold my head up, I couldn't even see the speedo, I think I traveled back in time a few minutes. I've riden faster and more stable bikes, but that one sticks in my mind as the scariest.

Not me but both I know of two brainless wonders that made a trip to College Station, TX from Defuniak Springs, FL last year on sport bikes. 900 miles in 7.5 hours driving time, actual trip time was 9.5 hours. Reported speeds in excess of 170 mph. Stupid if you ask me. But they will talk the rest of their lives about that one.

Valk was the next fast bike I had ridden - I have a v-65 Magna in the garage, I wondered how the wife has been able to keep up with the Valk  Wink

I did drag race for a  long time. only motorcycles. back in the early 80's(before nhra prostock bikes) there was IDBA (international dragbike association). Thats where I raced.
my fastest time was an  8.66 seconds @ 178 mph.  all that is saying is that, my times were slow the speed was high cuz the bike could go faster with a lil more tuning.
I dont count these passes as the fastest bike Ive riddne, only cuz it was done in a controlled enviroment, i couldnt get a ticket and the bikes were built speicically to go straight for 1/4 mile. I was outa gas as the end of the run usually...

Yes sir, had an 83, then a 86, and finally an 88.   Moved on to a 89 Wing, then a 94 Harley and finally to the 97 Valk after my quad bypass surgery.......   Ain't looked back and don't plan on it either...

My Valk, and my Trike will be with me till the kids get em after I'm burned and in an urn.    The kids are to take the Valk out, and sprinkle my ashes some where that will get a lot of motorcycle traffic.............  I want to be a Guardian Angel if possible..........

ZX14.

The clocked speed will be omitted from this posting.

The only "stock" bikes which are faster (and will handle worth a darn at those speeds) are an MV Agusta 312 or an MTC "Y2K Superbike". I cannot comfortably fit on the former, else I would own one. I may pick one of the latter up some day.

My first bike was a 1977 KZ1000 that I bought used in 1991.  It had a Kirker pipe and Stage 3 Dyno-Jet Kit on it.  I thought that bike was pretty fast, although top speed was only around 125 or so indicated...at least with my less-than-aerodynamic body on it.  But it still got around pretty well.

Then I bought my 2nd bike and got an idea of what "really fast" was.  That was a 1994 Suzuki RF900RR Sportbike.  I know it wasn't the fastest thing on the road when compared to the ZX11's and such that were out at the time, but man...it was FAST!!! Rated around 117 rear wheel hp by the bike mags at the time and weighing in a little over 400lbs dry, it would go 100mph like nothing.  It was actually most comfortable cruising at 85mph on the highway.  After the break-in period, I took it up to Rt 222 expressway around Kutztown, PA and cranked it up.  I saw the needle swing past 140 and was quickly running out of room on the highway so I let off.  According to bike mags, it supposedly topped out at 166mph and I have no reason to doubt it.  When I bought it, I had read all of the comparisons and, of all of the 900's, the only bike that was lighter was the Honda CBR900 and the Suzuki RF900RR had the best acceleration numbers and top-gear roll-on numbers.  On top of that, it was over $1000 less than either the Honda CBR or the Kawasaki ZX9, which was the bike I really lusted after.  So I bought the Suzuki.  Sometimes I wish I still had that bike...it would make a great sport-tourer with some bar risers and bags.

Then my 3rd and current bike is my Valk which you are all familiar with as far as performance.

I also had the opportunity to ride a friend's FJR a couple years ago.  Since it wasn't mine, I behaved myself.  But I could tell that thing will just about fly.
