The weather woman was saying it was going to rain again, some small 60% chance. Outside of my front window the sun was coming up and birds were singing.  I put on a jacket and stepped off the porch. I could hear the rain but I couldn't see it or feel it. I figure if I couldn't feel it then it shouldn't count.

I hopped on the bike and took off. Again I was leaving a few minutes early and decided to wander.

I fought my way through a busy school zone that needs some sort of traffic light to calm down the zippy parents and make them move in an orderly manner.

The further I got away from my house the darker the skies became. The birds stopped singing. And I thought...shouldn't the sun be coming up instead of going down?

I'm sitting AT work, but let's face it--nothing to do, the skies are dark and forebodding but I'm dry and here.

Not a bad ride in all in all.

I rode to work today, but not yesterday and I feel bad about it.  You see, it was raining yesterday when I left for work...which is usually my decision maker...and was going to be raining off and on all day, which it did.  But while at work I saw at least three bikes riding by in the rain and guess what...they were all HARLEYS!!!!  I feel like such a poser!  Embarrassed

Charlotte,NC set records with over three inches of rain yesterday/last night and parts of town flooded. It is all over the news this morning.
Here in NC (North West of Charlotte slightly) my rain gauges' bobber barely moved most of the day. We received an inch late last night.  It is going to rain again, but not until this afternoon, so I'm ready to go. My boots and jacket are dry so I'm ready to go. Commute to work, work to commute. I'm about ready to leave and enjoy the mild morning.
One of my last days of work.
Here it comes!

later that day in a windowless office...A co-worked just came in and asked if it was raining. He figured I'd know since I ride a bike. Honestly, I would know, usually. Today I've been stuck inside of this windowless block wall cell that they call the office for most of the morning. 90 of us sharing a small room with 1 fax, 3 computers (2 on the internet) and 3 desks. Luckily we're not here at the same time usually. One of my grand co-workers has laid claim to 1-3 of the space in here (storage, desktop, etc). Her superivisor won't say anything to her, so we all have to live with it.  That is honestly one of the reasons I play on the internet as much as I do because I know she wants to use the computer at some point, and will have to wait.
But I digress...vent...and digress again about digression.
Perhaps it is raining.
Oh well.
Into every life a little rain must fall.
I'm going to finish up here and go play in the rain on my way to the afternoon part of the job. Four commute days increase the chances of getting wet I suppose.
Oh well.

OK I'm here today. I got sprinkled on all the way in but not hard rain. It's supposed to be beautiful this afternoon so the rain won't even be remembered by tonight.

Although it's my first time posting here, I ride mine to work "most" every day.  It's not always the Valk, sometimes I ride my HD, but mostly I do ride to work.  Riding to work usually means only about a 6 mile 15 minute ride in low to moderate traffic.  However, today work took me for a nice 98 mile 75-80 mph cruise from Sugar Land (TX) to Port Lavaca, and then another 98 miles back home.   It was a tad windy.  The sun was out.  The temperature was perfect.  The Valk was hummin'.  Made for a great start and end for the day.  The work in between went reasonably well also.

Come to think of  it, my work yesterday took me into Houston.  Very happy that I had the patience to figure out how to get on the HOV lanes coming home because 59 South was a slow creep all the way.

I think tomorrow takes me into to Houston also...looking forward to more ride time.

It was a GREAT day to ride, to work, or wherever!  Last night I got a bonus putt to the north side (Willowbrook), and installed a new headlight on the way home!  Did not get to meet Momma for lunch today, so that's another 20 miles missed out on...
Tomorrow's an early one, should be dandy!
I love my Valk!  ;-)

As we were going out the door my wife questioned my leaving a half hour earlier than I needed. She was running late. I was ready, so I left. I left half an hour early, and arrived half an hour late. I spent about an hour riding around and taking pics of the bike.

The rain is clearing out, so I took the oppurtunity to have some fun.

Saw the Lincoln Turbine Plant today

I used to fish these little stocked lakes for catfish, now it has been turned into a housing development. The ponds (now one small lake) is still pretty.

Found some scenic spots around the county out of the way.

And still made it to work, eventually.
Touring to work, now that's the ticket.

We've had day after day of glorious rain, and I never tire of driving the Mini to work listening to
JJ Cale on the iPod...

It is supposed to rain this afternoon, but it was really nice this morning, so I rode in today
on my "museum piece"...

Looks like a Friday to me! Sun is coming up strong. The fog is burning off. I don't have to be in until later this mid morning. So, I'm finally about to leave and grab some breakfast on the way in.
after the ride in...Apparently the sun is only shining at my house. My commute was in a cloud of fog. I took it at a reasonable speed and just imagined the scenery that I usually pass.  I also considered how to word my next letter to the editor of the local paper to remind the locals that NC has a law that if windshield wipers are on then so are headlights!

Rode to work this whole week, got caught in the rain  on tne way home 3 of the 5 days. The only day it bothered me was the 2nd shift day when I ride home in the dark.  20 miles of country road and dark and a driving rain makes it hard to see!  uglystupid2 Hoser

Today is my next to last day at work. It is an odd day. I do not have to go into work until later this afternoon, but I'll probably go in earlier because that is just how I am.
This morning is 57 degrees with the crispness of after an all night rain. Should be a nice long ride in. I have a few things to do before I go into work. Should be fun. I'll let you know.
later that day...fun,wet ride. Not a bad morning. I just didn't get in a hurry.

Can I post if I DIDN'T get to ride to work today, but REALLY wanted to?
Valk had a flat rear, picked up a piece of sharp something, and no air left.  Got it off and ready for trip to shop for repair, hoping to ride to work tomorrow afternoon!  Either way, next trip will be with the cherry bombs out, just the stacks and baffles, to see what it sounds like!  Prolly max of about 15 miles, but long enough to get some video...

Today is the 4th day in a roll I've rode in.
Saturday 45 partly cloudy.
Sunday 40 light rain.
Monday 44 light rain.
Today was 50 and beautiful.
During the weekend I had people at work look at me like I was crazy for riding in.
Any day riding is better than time spent in a cage.

So one day last week I rode to work. Leather Jacket, helmet, winter gloves. 45 and no wind.  As I put the helmet on top of my desk, the guy sitting across from me looks up and says..........

Wait for it.............

"Ride your bike this morning?"

"No, I like to wear this on days I walk to work!"

PS. Rode yesterday. Today,I rode back from lunch, after work picked up the wife at the windshield place to get the car windshield replaced, then back home, then to the mall for some fruit drinks, then another stop before heading home. Nice to have a wife that enjoys riding.  Riding tomorrow.

My last day of work for the spring. I'll be going in and giving my last exam this morning. I'll have it graded and the grades filed with the dean before I leave. I also have to clean out my file cabinet. After that I'm going to try to go to the DMV and renew my license which will expire while I'm in PA this summer. Sounds like a full day running around on the Valk.

Commute to ride, ride to commute!

Where I worked
