It'a another great morning here. Time to leave the my little piece of country life and head to the far west side of H-town. My commute is only 80+ miles not 144 (I could make it that way....hmmmm). Y'all be safe out there.  Smiley

Took the darkside to work today.  And a long lunch, and even longer way home!  Almost 70 miles for a 12 mile round trip!
Great to be back in the wind!

I ride most every day to work its not a long ride and I try to avoid traffic as much as possible so I can enjoy the wind the sound of the exhaust and thank God that I can enjoy the simple pleasure of a drive to work. You see it wasn't always like this, I was in a place at one time in my life that I got the chance to watch people go to work to earn the money to someday enjoy life, but usually the stress was enough to kill them before they ever got the chance to enjoy life, the vacation the kids or just a beautiful day that they get to go enjoy the ride to work. So I made a promise to myself to enjoy the ride no matter what it brought or what I drove or how long it took ,yes even the sometimes annoyance of a lousy driver. Living in S Fla I watch as people go from their house with a/c to cars with windows up in a/c to their job most in a/c and never see the beauty in what they pass. My ride is not through pretty scenery but more through semi industrial and stores next to rail road tracks and looking at the back of houses. Not bad just not scenery as most would count it, but there isn't a day goes by that I don't see just the beauty in what is around. Some times I will come upon car transporters loading cars on their 18 wheelers with the hood open on their trucks and I watch them do their job and take a look at the truck engine. Some days I wait for the train or ride alongside it or just as I pass by the back of a store I watch a cat laying down on the driveway just sunning itself. Oh so much more as I pull up to the front of my shop and the stray cats that I feed hearing the sound of the Valk run to welcome me as if to say hello I am happy your here now lets eat. I am so thankful that I can ride to work one of lifes pleasures.

I've been riding to work every day for the past 4 months.  Getting kinda toasty lately though its been around 107 the last couple of days.  You know you live in Arizona when the forecast is showing a high of 99 in a couple of days and your thinking at last, a cool down.

IRTWT!  What a great acronym!  Day 2 for darkside yesterday, feeling more comfortable by the mile.  Today my son  195 lbs) went with and the fender nut rubbed a bit.  So, either he doesn't get to go, or  I grind it down some.  Summer's here!  Stay safe!

Beautiful ride in! Sunshine, 70 degrees at 16:00. Now if it is over 50 degrees for the ride home at 0545 I'll be real happy!

The temp on the wall said 41 so it was a nice ride in. I was running a bit late so I was letting the old girl loose, except where I got stopped by Penn DOT, on the back road, the fire trucks on the highway, and the traffic backed up at the LFH (light from hell) in town.

Supposed to be in the 70's this afternoon.

Yeah, I rode today, yesterday, and the day before...... It's a tough job but somebody has to do it!  Grin  The weather has just been AWSOME to work in... I mean ride in! Upper 50s in the AM and mid 70s to lower 80s in the PM with low humidity. Almost unheard of down here this time of year. Sitting here looking outside Cry  I think I need to sneak out for a putt. Hold those calls!     Roll Eyes

It was a very nice morning here in south central Kansas for a motorcycle ride. 58 degrees was perfect for the mesh jacket and chaps. The only bad thing was I had to stop here at wrok.

Oh well the long weekend is almost upon us and then let the good times "roll".

Morning all,

OK, I made it in but it sure was hard to turn into the garage to park.  Hmmmm, on the up side I get to leave at noon and don't have to be back to this place till tuesday! I will be at the station pulling a few shifts so y'all be careful out there this weekend. With the holiday and proms this weekend it could be busy.

Well, the day started out bad... I forgot to set the coffee makerup last night... but Dunkin Donuts was on the way into work, so no evil premonitions ....

Traffic wasrelatively light (for 7 am on I-85 & 285 to i-75 in Atlanta), so speed limits were ignored. bike felt a little odd on left turns and lane changes to the left.

40 miles after leaving beautiful Dacula, iarrive at work in Marietta. As I pull into the parking deck, bike is feeling REAL odd now. Looks like the left side of the handlebars is moving back and forth. the slower I go, the more pronouned it is.

Park the bike, get off and check it out. Turns out that the bolt protduding rom the base of the left rise is missing. Now the entire handlebaris pivoting around the right riser.

I guess lunch is going to be a trip to Home Depot to get some adustable strap clamps and hope everything holds together on the way home.

I do not think I will be riding this lovely long weekend.

(I think Daniel jinxed me... I was reading his posts on risers yesterday.......either that or it was  the quick stop at Lawrenceville Honda last night ..... )

If it were not for bad luck, i would have no luck at all....

Be very careful with your planned fix. Why don't you just get another bolt and put that it? Even not fully tightened it would seem better than the strap to me. The hole in the triple tree is stock at 12mm or 1/2" if you drilled it out for after market risers. Therefore, you need either a 12 mm bolt or a 1/2 bolt. I'm just working this out so I may be wrong.

Thanks for the tip Raymond.

The strap fix was just a temporary measure so I could ride the 40 miles back home. (3 straps did the trick).

And yep, a 12mm bolt (with lock washer & lock tite) resolved the issue (hopefully) for good.

We rode in to work today.  28 miles each way into downtown Dallas from Ellis County.  The traffic was relatively light.  The weather was good.  The wind light.  We enjoyed it.
