I nearly always ride to work if the temps are above 32 degrees and it's not going to rain on my way in. The 32 degrees is because of a curved bridge between me and work which gets tricky even in a cage when it's covered with ice. As a matter of fact, snow and ice are about the only things that can make a ride in the cage fun. I time my morning ride to end just in time to clock in. That way I don't get asked to fix something before I'm on the clock. That doesn't leave time for taking off or putting on a rain-suit so I don't ride if I'll hit rain on the way in. On the way home after working in temps of well over 100 all day rain doesn't matter much.
My ride to work lasts between 22 and 25 minutes, nearly all of which is through the beautiful Indiana countryside. The sun is coming up behind me in the mornings, the air smells gorgeous, and I'm always reminded how lucky I am to have been born at this time in this great country.
This morning I had patchy fog about waist high in the corn fields and across the road. There were deer in the fields, some appeared as deer heads floating above the fog. There were birds in the air and the valk, as always sounded awesome as I hammered her between the fields.
I guess we'll all reach a time when things turn to crap, when our health and/or luck leave us and ready or not, we move on to the next world. Today wasn't that day for me happily. The rides to and from work were both awesome. The only sore spot was the working which happened in-between the rides.

Showers on the way in, parking lot dry all day, drizzle all the way home. I prayed for different weather for next week, and it looks like thunderstorms are headed to the north east...

Got in late last night so I'm postin now. Rode to the job site yesterday morning at 5am. Left around 11am going about 50 miles to a metal supply dealers for the job I'm on. Placed the order then headed on down 231 South to Panama City. Air temp was above 100, new asphalt temp had to be 150. A tractor trailer pulled into the left lane to pass a cager and swirled up the heat. It got about 25 degrees hotter behind him. As soon as he moved back over I didn't let that happen again. Checked on some things and people at PC, ate dinner and headed home probably 7pm. Winds were gusting as a thunderstorm brewed just offshore cooling in down at least 20 degrees. Felt great. BTW, we've had record highs for a record number of days in a row. On the way home came upon three departments that had just extinguished a structure fire. I know those boys were hot. Got in about 220 miles for the day and back to the house at 9:30.
When will the heat let up? When this tread was started some were talking 30-40 degree weather. Where's it at now? The little storage building I'm in the middle of is taking twice as long because of the heat. Just too hot after 12 so we load up and head home.

AH! the great mid-west ... it may snow tomorrow but today with temps high 90s and humidity slightly lower, one day-dreamer in an F150 invited me to a T-Bone Party...both tires locked, I thought I had him. Say what you want, but I'm on Elite 3's for life; they used only 1/3 the amount of hot asphalt that I thought they would. God bless Dunlap and those Interstate Brakes.

I rode to work today. And yesterday. I was too angry to be riding on the way home yesterday, anger is a bad reason
for having my first "folded my left footpeg all the way up in a turn" event.
All the politicians I support turn out to be crack heads or adulterers...

I rode. Lovely morning. Had a state trooper trail me for about a dozen miles over county roads. Kinda takes some of the joy out of a morning ride.
Interesting note: it doesn't seem to take me any longer getting to work when I'm restricted to the PRV.

Rode to work today... 89 at 6:45 in the morning..... Dodged the heavy showers on the way home, but it was only 93 after the rain had passed and cooled things off from the 104 we hit earlier in the day, around 2:30 p.m.!!! Hay  |

HAYHAULER wait aminute they said it was gonna be 104 but when i went out to ride to work the temp on the porch in the shade was 109! at 4:oo pm. instead i rode the st ,which is much cooler ,need to bring the temp down on the f6. lots of bikes going south on the hov lane ,everyone waved back! it must have been 115 at least on 59! any body knows whats going on?  |

Today too, starting to warm up . 105 today, 12 mile ride home, 3 cars off the side with blown tires, makes ya kind of wonder how much heat our two wheelers cane take. Ride Safe Don...

Hail to the Good Captain, Hubcap, 6juggzz, SmokinJo, and all advocates and riders. Thanks L.S. for the note. All is well. Riding average possibly nearing 48/50 again. Haven't missed but two days since March. Mid 70's here heading home at Midnights, rain or dry. Today 95 under shade tree riding in; 106 according to REAL FEEL (whoever that is). Need some tahiti shirts. Hawaiian shirts not cool enough anymore. Tomatos are doing BEAUTIFUL. Still trying to figure how God gets 'em to taste like iced-cold right off the bush. Hope to see y'all soon, somewhere cool, w/ cheap fuel & dry shade. Be sure to keep the powder dry; we're most likely going to need it. www.gunsmoak.com |

Started out in the leathers this morning, sun was out most of the day, packed up my rain gear, headed for home and hit a sizable gully washer that lasted 15 minutes, then the sun came out again. Gonna stop packing up the rain gear, sure that's what's causing the rain...

I had to wait until today ... Hey, Mike! Is that a picture of you at work? I can't believe you get to work at a place that has all those motorcycles. lol
Here's a shot of me at work
and how I got here.
I rode in today (and yesterday). The weather site reported 69 degrees, but it felt a bit cooler. I enjoy riding in much more than I enjoy working, but I do enjoy my work.

I rode to work today...and yesterday...and the day before that. I'm 3 for 3 this week and I'm off tomorrow and Friday. I got rained on yesterday. Generally, I don't ride to work if it is raining. Unless they are calling for hail and tornado's, if it's not raining when I leave, I ride. Well, even though it was all wet and really dark and cloudy yesterday morning, it wasn't raining when I stepped out of the house, so I took the bike. I didn't make it to the end of my street before it started sprinkling. It never rained hard enough to warrant the rain suit though and when I got to work, I was just a little damp, but otherwise good. Then it rained off and on all day. But when it was time to go home, the sun came out. It was a pretty good day!

I rode to work today... Checked the tires, each were down to about 39, put a little in to get to
about 40/42...
Got gas at the corner store, there was a man there with a stump grinder, he came over to
admire the Valkyrie, told me about the Wing he used to have... the Valkyrie is a great
ice breaker for talking to folks...
Waved back to some badge-wearing-D00d who was walking across the Coneross bridge... maybe
he was a DNR guy, but his uniform and truck weren't recognizable as DNR... they keep pretty close
tabs at places where people come to fish...
Carolyn's left with the horse in the trailer at daybreak to ride with friends at Dupont State Park...
I always worry about her and the horse in that old truck - 240K, drum rear brakes, straight-drive, but it hauls
hay and fetched the Valkyrie back from Pennsylvania... she has a nice lightweight trailer with
surge brakes, so that helps...

I ride to work several days a weak, but I got up this morning and rode in behind the ex wife on her way to work. She bought her first bike, an 09 VN900, last week and this was her first time to ride into downtown Dallas on it. she didn't want to go solo her first run in heavy morning traffic. A little nerve wracking a couple of times but early enough that it wasn't too bad. Glad my ride in is mostly back roads and old state hwys.

I rode today, mostly good, a little behind a 25/35 mile-an-hour guy... tomorrow: bringing the
mountain bike in on the Mini... last Monday I brought the mt. bike, and used the little camera
on it for the first time. Hooking it to the handlebars made for too much side-to-side motion.
Tomorrow I'll try hooking it to my helmet...

It was foggy & drizzly & soft thunder when I was leaving for work so I put on the rain gear. About halfway there, it opened up, and I discovered that my Frogg Togg pants leak at the center seam. When I got to work I found myself in a condition that I wasn't expecting myself to be in for several years... So I guess I lied about not riding in thunderstorms, too. The mp3 player has a little over 6gig on it, the stuff that was already on the computer was easy, but now I'm putting my albums & then the cassettes, and it's a slow process. Raymond, but it seems like the good stuff always takes time. The ride home was foggy, but the pavement was dry in a few places. Off until Monday, so maybe I'll have a few new old tunes to listen to by then. Y'all ride safe this weekend!
