Obama Civilian Securitypowered by Aeva

Now we have this

http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/06/tsa_now_storming_public_places_8000_times_a_tear.html

Some may say it's a giant leap from one to the other. Good luck with that.

A quick Google search finds no mainstream press reporting the Tampa events. I wonder why?

This may help you understand the video snippet you posted:

As far as the TSA arriving in S.W.A.T. gear with "local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and federal bureaucrats in tow", it sounds like they were requested to be there by those "towed" agencies.  I don't think the TSA has mind reading equipment telling them where to show up to perform pat downs.    uglystupid2

Um, the TSA is not military. The TSA is civilian (not private, there's a difference). That's pretty much EXACTLY what Obama was talking about.

So if someone received a bomb threat to a bus station in Tampa (not that anyone would bomb a bus station because they look like they've already been bombed) should the TSA not take it seriously?

Individually yes, perhaps you can. But together? Because you seem to have missed the point completely.

Obama was speaking about the previous administration's view that counter-terrorism is primarily a military mission. Obama's argument is that it's primarily a law enforcement/intelligence mission with the military playing the role of enforcement when necessary. Well that's exactly what we've got; law enforcement and security agencies handling counter-terrorism. Whether you like that idea or not is one thing, but he's been consistent.

The rest of us will only listen to and take substance from the actual spoken words.

Or small portions of actual spoken words...

Brit, look at the date on the video (in case the "Change" sign on the podium didn't make it obvious). He was campaigning then both against the previous administrations shortcomings (real or perceived) and against an opposing candidate who was right in step with that administration and was going to continue many of it's policies. It doesn't take a brainiac to see that this is what he was referring to.

And of course it's only a video/sound bite, not the whole stump session. To take substance then perhaps you should hear the whole thing, not just what someone with an agenda wants you to hear.

And even with just what's there, HE'S STILL BEEN CONSISTENT.

I don't get in on these discussions because I am well aware that I am not nearly intelligent as the two great minds who have attempted to enlighten poor Brit and help him understand this how truly great Mr. Obama is. What I would like to know is how old are you two? How many years does it take one to get to know and understand everything there is to know about every topic in the world? Just curious!

Seriously, it doesn't take superior intellect to point out political pandering and propaganda.  President Obama isn't the best president we've had, but he's not the demon some make him out to be.  I welcome scrutiny of any elected official, as long as it's factual, and can be proven.  To take snippets out of context and try to link them to a snippet from an unrelated story screams propaganda.

Are you sure you didn't mean "omniscient" instead of "omnipotent?"

1: having infinite awareness, understanding, and insight
2: possessed of universal or complete knowledge

I know we have two or three members that post in this forum that would like you to believe that of them. What I find amusing is most times there are as many holes in their individual findings as the posts they're taking potshots at. (my English teaching mother will roll over in her grave...ending a sentence with "at.")

Actually I just looked up the definition of omnipotent as well and it turns out I actually mean both.

Why doesn't the TSA go to Arizona and check out some of those folks roaming the desert, oh wait, that would violate the rights of non-US citizens, possibly be unreasonable search, but probably not seizure.  Let's just unreasonably search a bunch of folks in Tampa instead.

The other day on my way home from work, I saw a convoy of 3 vehicles driven by "military looking dudes" (dressed in fatigues or BDU's) that I don't think were military.  None of the vehicles had any markings on them, but they did have US government plates.  One vehicle was a GM full size cutaway van ambulance (at least that's what it looked like) painted dark blue, one was a chevy suburban with a satellite dish on it, not like a TV news truck, totally different, and I forget what the other on was.  I wasn't wearing my aluminum foil hat at the time so I'm sure they read my mind as they drove by, and since they now know how I feel about Obama, I may as well just turn myself in and save them some time.

My point is, this is something I've never seen before, was very paramilitary, and I don't trust our government.

I guess a National Police Force just as well funded and just as powerful is really not what he meant when he said it.

But that was his exact words and he said it.

Why would you think otherwise as the words came straight from his mouth.

"Civilian National Security Force"...what is the definition of that?   Rednecks with guns getting a paycheck from the national defense fund and no training ??

Here is a transcript of the beginning of the speech with the snippet highlighted:

[As] president I will expand AmeriCorps to 250,000 slots [from 75,000] and make that increased service a vehicle to meet national goals, like providing health care and education, saving our planet and restoring our standing in the world, so that citizens see their effort connected to a common purpose.

People of all ages, stations and skills will be asked to serve. Because when it comes to the challenges we face, the American people are not the problem – they are the answer. So we are going to send more college graduates to teach and mentor our young people. We’ll call on Americans to join an energy corps, to conduct renewable energy and environmental clean-up projects in their neighborhoods all across the country.

We will enlist our veterans to find jobs and support for other vets, and to be there for our military families. And we’re going to grow our Foreign Service, open consulates that have been shuttered and double the size of the Peace Corps by 2011 to renew our diplomacy. We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set.

We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded

If it's all the same to you, I'd rather just stick with the military, I just don't buy "a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."  Just where does he plan on stealing the funds?

Civilian National Security Force, now that is a good idea.

The first place they can be deployed is at the frigging border with Mexico.

With those just as strong as our Military Powers they can shoot the little dipsticks as they cross the border.

Great Idea from Nobama Barry Soetoro.

Thanks Bobbo for getting me inline.

I just as soon call it the Gestapo, I mean at least we would know the real purpose of this Bull Snot idea.

I agree, once you open that door it will be "katy bar the door." It happens little by little, bit by bit until we forget the way it used to be and the young ones won't know the difference unless WE inform them.

Gestapo? Not really. Do a little reading up on Nazi Germany, the Gestapo, the SA and SS and how they operated. They share nothing in common. If it were really like the Gestapo then all the people here dissenting would have already disappeared like vapor.

Rather stick with the military huh? So you want a military dictatorship? Because that's pretty much what you get when the military is also the law enforcement branch.

I think you read a little into what I was saying, made some assumptions...
You know what happens when we ASSUME.

What I meant was he was talking out of his anal orifice as usual.

Why duplicate effort?  we have a military, a damn good one, they are trained, equiped, and funded.  To do as the POTUS said, he would have to recruit, equip, and train another, duplicate (per his words "a civilian national security force that’s JUST as powerful, JUST as strong, JUST as well-funded.")  In our current economic situation, how does he fund it?  By raising taxes?

I said nothing about wanting a military dictatorship, I said "If it's all the same to you, I'd rather just stick with the military" i.e.  What we have is working, we don't need to duplicate effort.  Do you see what I am saying?
