Anvil, this isn’t meant as a personal attack, but what color is the air in your world? I mean, even after Willow’s warning, you have continued to insult the entire VRCC as a group. I know there’s one other guy here who has stated he “wouldn’t walk across the street to piss on VRCC member who was on fire” but that guy aside, you’ve taken it to the whole next level. Disagree with politics, religion, even bike brand all day long. . . It’s all ‘ok’ . . . have at it to your hearts content, but when you start bad mouthing Valkyries on a Valkyrie chat board, I really have to question not only your motorcycle knowledge (or lack of) but your basic intelligence. By being so blatantly WRONG you’ve proven you’re someone NOT to be taken seriously . . . at all. Hondas are NOT reliable? Wow! That’s a first. Even my most devoted Harley buddies when we’re ‘kicking the game’ and joking around have never said that. “Uncool” or “Un-American” BLAH! BLAH! BLAH! but more prone to repair than Harleys?
So, the real question is; why are you coming to this board? Just to insult all of us? And now to let us all know Honda Valkyries really are unreliable, repair needing piles of Japanese junk? I wish someone with your insight would have warned me 11 years ago. My entire repair bill in those 11 years has been one broken U-Joint. I guess I’m overdue for all those problems you say happens with a Valk. Man, it sounds like it’s going to be expensive. . .
I know at one point Willow indicated he was close to kicking you off, but I for one hope he doesn’t. I know I’m not complaining about you because at the end of the day you’re a relatively harmless boy. And, if you sincerely believe a Harley – any Harley – is as reliable as a Valk then you’re off in a world all your own and deserve our sympathy.
So, what color is the air in your world?

What color is the air in my world? Is that a song lyric? Very poetic. And as I stated before, I came here originally for tech info. I stayed for the insanity. As far as insulting Valkyries, I did no such thing. I own one and I love it to death. I merely pointed out the FACT that they're not perfect. If Valkyrie riders are insulted by someone suggesting that their rides are not flawless then okay, yeah, I insulted you. But again, that's EXACTLY what I mean when I say that you people behave like a cult sometimes. What I find curious is that you claim you're "not personally attacking me" and shortly thereafter you call me a "relatively harmless boy". Come on dood, don't bulls**t me. What deeper personal attack is there than to call into question someone's manhood? If you want to attack me then have at it. But be a man about it. As to why I continue to throw flying elbows into the circle-jerk, well I guess I just don't care to nod along in agreement with what I know to be false. If Willow bans me then you can all go back to nodding approvingly at each other without my ruining the party. I'll just have to live with that. Somehow, I think I'll manage. This is one area where I really admire the BMW guys. Nobody likes their bikes but them and yet they just go about their lives riding their bikes, not caring one way or another what other people think. Some of the people here could learn a a thing or two from them. P.S. For my part I would extend a helpful hand to any one of you well beyond urinating on you to douse flames.

I have a question for you, KW.
Why is it that you consider anyone that challenges information in your posts an imbecile? Are your posts untouchable? Beyond reproach?
While this forum is about Valkyries, they are not perfect machines. Like all machines, they have their quirks and good points. Discussing the shortcomings of other brands while proclaiming the Valkyrie's superiority in every aspect is just unrealistic, especially considering the advancement most brands have made in the last few years. You needn't start calling people lacking in intelligence simply because they respond to posts that disparage other brands.

Nothing wrong with the Beemers... One of the best bikes I ever owned in the 70s was my R90/6. 900 cc and pretty bullet-proof. As for the "cult" aspect... Seems every brand/model has it's "cult" following for those who own them... nothing wrong with that at all. Just lends to the comradery of those who find themselves familiar with the same machine. No different than the Valkyrie "cult" here. It's a good thing. I love my Valk and am happy to be in this cult of ours. Just ride safe and stay upright.

Wow, on this Motorcycle Board i have seen post that preach religion, disparage elected officials, post pictures of dogs defecating on a President, gang up on members for their political opinions, argue about tire and oil ad nausem and Anvil's post bother you? I think he is here because he rides a Red and White 97 standard, the absolute best Valkyrie ever built! IMHO LOL

So, the real question is; why are you coming to this board? Just to insult all of us? That was the only question that really needed to be addressed. My observation is that after a month or so you continue to refer to "you" (in the plural) and "you people" as if you see things as yourself on one side and all of the VRCC on the other. Hence the reference to to not really fitting in or trying to. At some point, when I join a group, I begin to use the terms "us" and "we" and I try not to assume that the views expressed by a vocal few are those of every member of the group.
I've also noticed that you seem to be looking for an argument or an opportunity to straighten everyone out and to continue to pursue your argument until it's difficult for anyone to find anything else in the thread, but the barbs and arguments of you and your opponents. Hence my observation.
I see the VRCC as a community, not just another "motorcycle forum". I guess that colors the manner in which I deal with conversation on the board and elsewhere.
I'm a great deal older than are you. When I was a little younger I tended to try to win arguments and even referred to these discussions of conflicting views as debates. As I've aged, maybe as the testosterone level has subsided or maybe as experience has had its way, I've come to believe that seldom does anyone win an argument unless there's a wager involved and these spirited vocal disagreements in which we participate seldom qualify as debates. As far as insulting Valkyries, I did no such thing. I own one and I love it to death. I merely pointed out the FACT that they're not perfect. You actually did a bit more. rather than simply state that the Valkyrie isn't perfect, you vehemently pursued the argument that it's inferior to the equivalent Harley (whatever that means). Ultimately you revealed that your assessment was based on what you've read here (hearsay?) and your 20,000 miles of experience on Harleys. 20,000 miles? Really? I found that both irritating and amusing. I agree with you. You would've made more mileage, though, if you'd not followed your complaint at his attacking your manhood by attacking his manhood. As to why I continue to throw flying elbows into the circle-jerk, well I guess I just don't care to nod along in agreement with what I know to be false. If Willow bans me then you can all go back to nodding approvingly at each other without my ruining the party.
P.S. For my part I would extend a helpful hand to any one of you well beyond urinating on you to douse flames. Believe it or not, the VRCC had plenty of controversy and spirited disagreement even before you arrived on the scene. So much so that it might be refreshing now and then to have everyone nod approvingly.
Anvil, I'd stop and give you a helping hand were you burning or just broken down alongside the road anytime I encountered you on two wheels, any two wheels. It's just a guess on my part, but I think the chances are very slim of our ever finding whether that's true.
I really do hope you choose to become one of "us" rather than continuing to be the one to straighten out "them". I hope you continue to hold and express opinions conflicting with those of many of us (but certainly not all of us). However, if you're only hear to "throw elbows" I don't need it. I suspect you really don't either.
Be safe, young man.

Anvil, I sincerely apologize for calling you a ‘boy’. Believe it or not, that part of my posting wasn’t meant as a jab. Based on your postings, I assumed – apparently incorrectly – that you were relatively young. Maybe in your early 20’s or even a teenager.
The rest of what I wrote I stand by though. Anyone can objectively read what you’ve posted and see a clear pattern of attacking the board as a group, including disparaging Valks. Your “response” about saying you will continue to “throw flying elbows into the circle jerk” says it all.
Bobbo; I was going to go into this long, drawn out response about the current state of uncivilized, non-factual discussion in our culture and the difference in politeness and honesty TODAY versus just 7 or 8 years ago, but why bother? It would have just been a lot of hot air. . . . What I will say to you instead is; I’m starting to think you may not be all that bad, once you get past all your confused liberal biases (And, I’ve been trying to help you with that Bob! Is it working?) So, which one of us should be worried more?

Uhm...no. No thanks. Willow's comments would have made a suitable pm to what is a relatively new member, rather than throwing the Admin's weight behind the OP's missive. I know Anvil can both take it and dish it out. Consider, however, that when "The Admin Speaketh" it doth tendeth to carry some weight as opposed to other members' posts. At least in my mind. (Not in this instance, though)

Sometimes when I go out in the garage late at night for some unrelated reason, I will walk up to my Valkyrie and wipe off some dust, spray some cleaner on it and give it a little polishing. Then I will climb on it and sit there with my hands on the grips and feel an inner peace. I know I am not the only one. So, I looked up "CULT" and that is me. Probably some of you also. CULT: - an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: P.S veneration means profound respect or reverence i.e. seems like the Valkyrie cult. - formal religious veneration - great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, or work (as a film or book)

Anvil, I sincerely apologize for calling you a ‘boy’. Believe it or not, that part of my posting wasn’t meant as a jab. Your “response” about saying you will continue to “throw flying elbows into the circle jerk” says it all. Can you not see how I as as a former owner and someone who likes and appreciates H-D products feels a bit on the defensive when people who clearly know nothing about them start bashing them? I realize that this is a Valk board but I can't help but be a bit defensive. I've put a lot of time in on H-D products and enjoyed every minute. When you insult them you are to some degree insulting me as well. I don't particularly mind being insulted, but I don't like BS.
It's funny but I was just on a benefit group ride today and H-D was of course the dominant brand. On the way back there was a tool on an Electra Glide who just HAD to be in front of me, giving me dirty looks and crap (I imagine possible because of my bike). You know what I did? I let the baby have his bottle. He's an asshat and that's his lot in life. Why should I pay any more mind to it than that? ??? I met more good H-D people today than I met bad ones.
And through all of this I CHOOSE to ride a Valkyrie.

If being full of crap was reason for removal....there wouldnt be many members left.
amen to that, from uneducated political comments, uneducated repair/service tips, to highest speed (Valk or other bikes), mpg, longest ride with absurd speed averages, intolerant opinions of others beliefs, etc., etc. I used to think I needed boots when reading some posts, now I think I'd be better off with waders. I often wondered if people really believe some of the crap they lay off on others. Do they say it because it sounds good to them? Dave

I hate that the Valkyrie needs gas. The thing is nickel and dimeing me to death! Seriously though, I can't recall any parts breakage. Tires, vacuum lines, a petcock rebuild, oil and filter (Golden Spectro and stock honda valk filter), a wash and wax on occasion (very occasionally if you talk to my brother!), but that's about it.

So let the Cult of Valkyrie begin... We will need Valkyrie, floormats, doormats, coasters, coffee mugs, table lamps, clocks... We will need Valkyrie branded beef jerky, Ford trucks, pontoon boats, coffee, breath mints... We will need, and must dress head-to-toe in, Valkyrie shirts, boots, jackets, sweatbands, hats, underwear, wallets, purses and even lingerie for the ladies... Come on fellas... we can do this! No other "motorcycle cult" has done it before!
