Anybody got a used one with good splines in it? I wanna take it to my local drive line shop and have the yokes machined to run a "serviceable" U-joint. If not, then it's time for a new one, (I'm starting to have a slight vibration on decel & I aint takin' no chances). Where to get? Part #? Thanks for any help & info. Peace, Whiskey.

You can buy them now and nolonger on back order or so I've read on here...I've read everything from $70 to $110 ....HDL has a 10% sale till tuesday on orders over $100.00... Code ....FALL Check the left bearing and pinion cup when you pull the wheel.

yeah, getting a new one is a lot cheaper then getting one machined to be accept new bearings etc. you've got to also look at how many miles you've got on your old one and ask yourself if it's really worth it. i've got a new uni-joint for $65 from HDL, i should probably buy a shaft and pinion cup, just to really be on the safe side!!!

Thanks Joe, I'll check it. Alph, I'm willing to front the expence to get the yokes machined so I can just replace the u-joint in the future. Still lookin' for a used one in decent condition or the part # and site link for a new one, anybody? Peace, Whiskey.

I have slight vibration on decelleration and it usually only does it around 80 to 90 mph if I ease off the throttle.
Get off the throttle fast it will not do the vib thing.
Been there for 10,000 miles and I ain't doing anything about it.
It never changes.
2 cents is all.

I hear ya Brother Al & I ain't really worried about it yet, but service time is here and I would like to make an up-grade to the weakest link in this machine while I've already got her down. Really wanna find a used u-joint and improve on the original with something stronger and serviceable. Cain't stand to have her down for machine work so ............., anybody got a u-joint in fair condition they might hook a brother up with for cheap? Still lookin', peace Whiskey.

i've got one, but i'm planning on turning into a connector for a single wheel trailer. i wonder if you can get a truck universal joint to work!! i'm sure there'll be some issues on space! ever look at seeing if something off of a car could be motified? good luck.

Dang Tank, that's cheaper than HDL. I'll sure give them a shout if I cain't find one to modify. Alph, I've got a part # for the u-joint from the tech section here (it's a 392 made by Federal Mogul). Just need the yokes, in fair condition, to make the improvement. Got an awesome driveline shop here (Sonny's) said pressing out the original staked joint and machining in the groves for this serviceable u-joint was no big deal. Allows me to replace the u-joint in the future much quicker and less often (since I can grease it). Better strength to boot and lets face it, the originals are getting harder and harder to come by. Really wanna make this mod while she's already down for service! Somebody out there's gotta have one in so-so condition they'ed part with for a reasonable price? Peace, Whiskey.

I have one that the bearings are shot if all you are wanting is one to get machined. For the cost of shipping.

Czuch, here's the post that got me wantin' to do this mod. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,30570.0.htmlPretty much gonna take the yokes & Precision 392 u-joint to my local drive line shop and ask 'em "how much" to put the two together. If it turns out to be extremely expensive I'll probably scrap the plan, return the u-joint, & buy a new one from Tank's link here. But if it's doable at a reasonable price then I'll probably go for it. I like the idea of being able to actually service, or replace the u-joint without having to find or wait on parts in the future. Peace, Whiskey.

Mr Whiskey Just so you know-the inside of the ears is where the machining has to be done. (the Precicion 392 is too long to allow outside grooves) I thought it was just a matter of pressing out the old joint, cutting grooves and pressing in a new joint. Got a quote on that basis. He wanted $90 to do just one. $60 each to do four at one time. Then found out the machinist had to fabricate a jig to hold the yoke for machining so the price went up. I had to pay $80 each to have four done at one time, instead of the original $60.
