WalMart is like a roach motel. You can go in Walmart, but you can't get out.
It never fails......I can go in there for just a couple of items, quickly go to the section of the store that has them, pick them up and head to the check-out. I get close to the check-out section and scan the area for an open check-out lane. There's fifty freakin' lanes in a Walmart and there's always only 2 or three that actually have a teller at one......and those lines are always like 6-8 people deep with loaded up carts.
Even the 20 item or less lanes have people standing in line with a cart slap full of crap they're buying. Obviously, people can't read.
I can go in a Walmart, but I have hell to pay to get the heck out of there.
Hate is too tame a word for how I feel about Walmart.

Wal Mart has good prices, no doubt about it, and that helps keep other retailer prices down as well. They don't have Unions, and I have no problem with that either.... I don't want their prices to go up so I can help line the pockets of some Union Leaders that really don't do much for their members anyhow. (Some local Grocery stores have left the area and were put out of business by the Unions, they just closed up and left. One chain, Giant Eagle, has such high prices I just don't go there and shop elsewhere.) The Wal Mart store itself has plenty of items to choose from, ok so maybe not many "made in America" items, but is anything really made in America anymore? I like the one stop shopping.... where I can get a box of ammo, some motor oil, a pair of jeans and a gallon of milk along with some other food or pharmacy items. They are providing jobs and at above minimum wage levels, so that is a good thing as well. I do not like the lines at the checkout.....I hate em, as was indicated above.... but that is why I park back by the Automotive/Sporting Goods area and get my Ammo or Oil last and check out back there... much quicker (let's hope no one in my area starts this practice as well).
Wal Mart has a lot of power and influence with Vendors... that desperately want to place their products in a Wal Mart to sell, so much in fact that Wal Mart influences them to change the product, it's pricing or packaging to suit Wal Marts needs, even has them manufacture "store branded" items specifically for them.... which could ultimately affect the price match issues in some areas... but most stores do this as well. Their volume pricing makes it difficult for smaller Mom/Pop stores to compete, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing for the end consumer.... it is difficult for the overall business picture tho.
I don't shop at Wal Mart all that often, but when I do it's usually because I want something in the Sporting Goods, Automotive department or even Men's deparment, and find it easier to do the one stop shopping thing. Otherwise I usually get my groceries elsewhere due to convenience.
I think Wal Mart is providing a valid need, but at what expense overall I just can't determine... good or bad.

I buy oil and filters at Walmart - and for that, you can go in the back door next to the service bays and check out there, avoiding the fifty lines with only 2 or 3 manned, the ticket check, etc. I'm pretty sure the Chevron Devo and the Quaker State synthetics are not made in China.

The Wal Mart in our neighborhood has quite a few Handicapped parking places. However most of those spaces for the disabled are used by people that have no disability plates or hang tags.
I've used my camera phone to document this situation. They have a security patrol and a police officer there most all the time. I've gone in and asked to see the manager about this situation and was told that they will not volantarily ticket those that abuse those parking areas because they come to Wal Mart to spend their money. And people like me are just causing trouble.
Last year I rode my 98 Valk to Wally World to buy a cheap pair of reading glasses and found a Handicapped parking spot right in front (Whopee!). When I came out of the store there was a police officer and a security guard blocking my bike and the cop writing a ticket. I asked the cop if he needed to use my new reading glasses to see my licence plate? The cop asked if I was some kind of "smartass". I told the cop to really look at my plate because I have a disabled plate on my bike.
The security guard interjected that it was not a legal plate, because handicapped people don't ride motorcycles. The cop did look at my plate and did not give me a ticket. He did imply that he thought I was some troublemaker and he better not see me again.
What is happening to this Country? Is stupidity and greed so rampant that we need to fight for everything?
In Dearborn, at least, improper parking in a Handicapped space carries a $285.00 fine. With the Dearborns financial condition those tickets could clear up the financial mess and maybe they might have a surplus.

I don't typically have an issue getting in and out. What I don't like is how they decide what to carry and what not to. For instance; a few years ago Wal Mart wanted to build a Supercenter here in Derry but they couldn't get the land deal worked out at the time. So what they did instead was take out about a third of the dry goods and replaced it with groceries. But their grocery selection is lacking and the prices (except for a few choice items) are not worth making the extra trip as opposed to going to a dedicated grocery store. Meanwhile, the shoe and clothing selection has been decimated. I think that Wal Mart forgets about the customer a LOT. Case in point; back in early August I sent to the local Wal Mart looking for swimmy diapers. Nothing. I went to the Supercenter two towns away thinking they MUST have them. Nope. Target on the other hand had three different brands. There's no excuse for not having swimmy diapers in August and I let Wal Mart know this via email. To their credit I got a callback from the Supercenter manager and he was very congenial and apologetic and promised to rectify the problem (explained as a problem with the automatic stock replenishment system). I also vented to him about Wal Mart's now reversed decision to stock Mobil1 15W50.

WalMart is NOT my #1 choice. I do shop there for things i NEED that i can't seem to get anywhere else. Compared to the 3 dedicated grocery stores i have available to me-WalMart is way OVERPRICED on most of their grocery items. I also have as a 4th grocery store an Aldi not that far from wally world. I buy my engine oil and filters from wally world and i watch their sale papers. I get my Christmas lights and decorations and wrapping paper on the 26th of December at wally world. I have been known to walk thru there(wally world)with my daughter and NOT buy a friggin thing. Do not care where you go these days-you can not get away from chinese imports without a lot of research. I do have a couple of real hardware stores down here where i can buy just one bolt or nut or washer as opposed to a package of however many i don't need. I am guilty of buying gasoline there. 10 cent a gallon off be a GOOD reason. RIDE SAFE.

I don't hate the company. I hate the very concept of a Walmart. How do I frame it in simplistic terms? Here:
You worked for Shlonkers, assembling high quality shoes. The company moved production to China. (Select your motive, depending on views: greed, in order to profit as much as possible and pocket the difference. Competitiveness with another company. Union greed making production cost prohibitive. Whatever.) You are let go. You get a lower-paying job, maybe in service industry, or part-time w/o benefits, etc. Walmart now sells what you used to make. The quality is inferior to what you made, the shoes are disposable after two months - but cost less. You buy them from Walmart, because that's all you can afford with that new job. Buying Chinese crap that falls apart, or worse, harms you or loved ones As if Chinese give a damn.
A vicious circle.
Thus I hate the concept and what it stands for. I also hate the devastation they bring to Smalltown USA, the Mom & Pop stores, the downtown areas ghosted.
I don't hate them enough; I shop for some stuff there - mostly dogfood.
Oh yeah! That, and the fact I can't go in carrying a firearm! (Never mind. Actually, I can't do that anywhere, here.)

What the heck is a swimmy diaper?? ??? Hey!! Walmart, love it or hate it, is capitalism at it's glorious best. We don't have to shop there..but we do, like Home Depot, Target, Lowes.... We WANT to spend less... Mom and Pops have gone the way of the small family farm, bakery, grocery..Bigger is Cheaper and we like that.

I worked in a small sporting goods store that sells hunting equipment guns, bows and all the fun stuff. Our top selling gun was the remington 870. Had a guy come in and tell me walmart had it 125 bucks cheaper. I told him if he bought it to bring it in an i would show him the difference. He brought it to me and i tore our 870 apart and said see all these meyal parts. Then took his apart. 80 petcent of the parts in the walmart gun were plastic. Then i went on to investigate it further and found out walmart has a contract with remington and they make those guns just for them with cheap parts. So before you buy a gun from walmart tear it apart and look

me too I have few options of where to shop in a big rig. walmart in Lexington NE and Winslow AZ are the two easiest in and out for a big truck. I know it's 80% junk from china, but if you look that means there's 20% that might be American made (maybe) the 'nanas I get are from south America, the apples are from Washington state. check for produce labeled 'euro fresh', that comes from a hydro farm in AZ (I haul that stuff from time to time)

About 80% or more at Walmart is from China and other Asian countries. What is ironic is when Sam Walton started Walmart and the first one came to this area there was banners everywhere that said "everything in American made". As successful as it was then, when he died everything changed and now is or was bigger than Exxon Mobil! If you ever have some time to kill, go to the Dollar Store, Dollar Tree, $0.99 Store and a few others I'm forgetting and see all the "made in the USA" labels.

I hate walmarts policy that the customer is always right. It is like they encourage ignorance and stupidity. If you want a free oil change just tell the manager that the grease monkey left a fingerprint on your car last time and he'll give you a coupon for a free one. If you want a new garden hose just run it over with the lawn mower and take it to walmart claiming it had a life time warranty and you done checked for another in their store but they dont sell it any more, bitch and moan about "how can it be lifetime if you aint got anotherone ?" and they will offer you cash to shut up or any hose in the store. Most of them will not prosecute shoplifting under 50 bucks or any amount if it is food items....even if you hauled it out to your 2 yr old Mercedes in the parking lot! Steal from any other box store and walmart will let you return it to them with out a receipt for cash if they sell same item. If you throw a fit, they dont care if they even sell the item, as long as the "always right" customer claims it was bought at ANY walmart! I even saw a guy convinced that pro-rated on a battery exchange meant FREE and they just gave him a free one. They make up for it in volume and pass the rest of the cost to the HUGE volume of repeat customers. Take your dog in,light a cigarette and ride one of the handicap scooters with your fly undone and you are fine....just dont let 'em see your gun.

What f-ing pisses me off about f-ing walmart is that they don’t buy any f-ing American made products! For example look at f-ing rubber made, or any f-ing shoe company that use to make f-ing shoes in f-ing America! Now those jobs that once paid an f-ing good wage to some f-ing American is now a much cheaper wage in some f-ing Asian country! What’s so smart about sending a decent f-ing job to a foreign f-ing country were the wage is 1/f-ing8th of what is was here! F-ING NOTHING! Try telling that to Penn or Teller.
The town were I once lived in had two grocery stores, two pharmacies, four hardware stores, an implement dealership and three auto dealers, heck, there was even a Honda shop (my valkyrie actually was sold from that store). Now, if you go through down town Cadott, there are three bars, and one car dealership. That’s it. oh, 12 miles away there’s a walmart. I would like to know if the average income, accounting for inflation, went up or down in that town since the building of the walmart store? I’d bet it went down.
By the way, for those walmart lovers, my father GAVE the village of Cadott 30 acre of land along Highway 29 & 27 to develop the industrial park, which allowed the building of 7 individual businesses that employee nearly 300 people. If you google the town, you will see that there is actually a street named after us. By the way, we gave the village that land because our business was growing and we needed sewer and water to build a manufacturing plant, the village basically kicked us out of town by dragging it’s feet on the development….. it’s a long story…….

Wal Mart did not exist until poorer folks wanted what wealthier ones had! And so was born the $35 VCR and CD Player. Love it or hate it, it's too late to stem the tide now. It is a great place to buy your medications. Cheaper there without using an insurance than it is if you have an insurance card and make the co-payment. ???

Here's a question for all y'all "high-and-mighty" types:
Where do you buy your gasoline? Where do they buy it from?
Walmart uses Sunoco fuels (at least around here), and last I checked, ALL the gasoline that Sunoco sells COMES FROM THE UNITED STATES.
Try to find "Made in America" products (note - that doesn't mean North America or the US...America includes Mexico, Canada and ALL of South America) anywhere. They're getting much harder to find. Yes, I try to buy them when I can, but da**it Jim, I'm not in the 1%.

I feel your pain. They don't carry swimmy diapers in my size.
How's a guy supposed to drink Mojitos all day in the hot tub without ever getting out? Hot tubs got plenty of chlorine...... Just let it go Okay but what about the nachos supreme I've been pounding all day??? Stanley, I have those exact same Spongebob boxers!* Wal Mart buys whatever's cheapest, it just so happens that this is China's department. But I don't blame Wal Mart for that. I blame ever tightening household budgets and the cheap, chiseling pricks who DO have the money but won't pay a little more for American made goods. Because of the rising cost of Chinese labor and the fuel used to ship it here more and more products are being made in the USA again. I was surprised to see that most of the Sterilite stuff and the plastic kitchenware items Wal Mart sells are made here now. *You have to stop leaving your underwear at my house.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

While even Snopes agrees with your comment regarding Sunoco's importing of oil, I do not believe "all" Wal Marts subscribe to the theory of using Sunoco gas at their pumps. I have seen "other" trucks refueling them there (mostly unmarked if I recall), and it could be from a different supplier with different additives etc. We have Sunoco fuel farms here locally in PA so it is likely that it comes from there... but I get mine at a local Sunoco at Shop N Save and get fuel perks from grocery shopping there as well or another local Sunoco gas station.

About 80% or more at Walmart is from China and other Asian countries. What is ironic is when Sam Walton started Walmart and the first one came to this area there was banners everywhere that said "everything in American made". ................ Bingo. And that's when I stopped setting foot in the place. You STOPPED because everything was made in AMERICA at super low prices??? Don't get it Glenn.

I doubt one brand supplies all. Sunoco does not even have any stores or distribution in the upper Plains states, probably other areas as well. MP

Yep that's about all that's made in America from Walmart and I try to fill up everytime chance I get. BEWARE of CITGO! It is owned by Hugo Chavez from Venezuela that loves terrorist and is siding with the Islamist to destroy the US! I'll never buy from them or anybody that finances terrorism.

I stopped when they drifted away from their Made in America whenever possible and instead began beating up their suppliers for thinner margins, cheaper built versions of identical-looking products, and generally being a supporter of moving production to China so folks could buy crap that put their own employers out of business. I don't feel high-and-mighty, I just vote with my dollars and prefer to shop elsewhere as a protest to the store I feel really started the downward slide and demise of taking care of our own.

I prefer US tools. One thing bugs me. A company I am familiar with is Cooper Industries. Their products include Plumb hammer, Lufkin tape measure, and Crescent brand wrenches. They made a decision to source as much product from China/Taiwan as possible. The imported products are sold in red white and blue packaging, so you "think" American. When the wrench is out of the package, then you see "Taiwan" on the reverse side. A similar thing is Chinese tools labeled as "Pittsburgh". I remember thinking about how sad it was that all Pittsburgh tools are made in China now.

It was just on the news last night. Wal-Mart wants to put a store in one of the cities around here. They said on the news for every job that Wal-Mart creates in the community. 1.4 are lost due to the impact of them in the area.
