Hi,

Does anyone have a set of piggie plates for a 1997 Standard for sale? Want to restore the piggies but they have been cut off too short to use the copper pipe method.. Undecided

Would be happy to pay for trackable  shipping to the UK. Grin

Cheers

Thanks, I already thought of that but fittings over here are all metric - so not easy to get hold of the parts to do this...

It just seems easier to get a pair of piggie plates and welt them on.

Many Thanks though.

I would think it would be easier to thread the "piggies" .... you could do it with the exhaust on the bike. If you go the route of welding the plates on, the end result might not be favorable (alignment issues) and I'm assuming you would be removing the pipes to do the welding which could turn into a can of worms with broken exhaust studs, etc.  Just saying.  Good luck with your project !!

Damn you guys are fast. Beat me to my own thread.  cooldude

I don't know anything about metric pipe fittings, but you would think there would be something close that would work. 13mm?

I put about a hundred miles on my new piggies and they seem to be working well. If I were to do it again I might use silver solder. But when I took them out the other day to drill them all to the same ID the solder joints looked fine.

MarkT from horseapple had piggy plates on his site at one time or another he still may, plus he helps keep the lights on. His link pops up in the vendor bar at the top of the page or over at horseapple.com
No affiliation blah blah blah, just a good guy to deal with.

Thanks fellas - I'm going to go the Piggie Plate route and give Mark a call... cooldude

I have a cunning plan to use these without taking the pipes off the bike for welding... Shocked

Hedgehog......

I've got a set.  There for an Interstate though.  I got them from MarkT for a project that I never did.  You could cut them to length for whatever your needs are.  You can have them for $40.00 plus whatever the shipping would be to you.  I can ship them via the US Post Office.  They offer tracking numbers if I ship via Express Mail (Express Mail isn't cheap).  Shipping insurance would be a couple bucks at the most I'd think.
