My 98 Tourer front turn signals are OK. But I noticed the clamp had a gap in it's mounting clamp. Been that way for 73k miles just thought I would make sure it's tight. Yes the clamp is tight but the bolt head is round inside where the wrench fits. 6x28 and it's recessed into the clamp 1/4 inch. What can I use to try and grab the bolt head or should it be drilled. I won't drill it there would be bigger problems if I tried Smiley
I've never heard of an e-z out for such a situation.

i would try an easy out that was big enough for the job. otherwise leave well enough alone. you might watch ebay and pick up an extra base just in case you have to cut the old one off for some reason in the future.

It should be rather easy to drill the head of the bolt off, then the parts will seperate and you can use a vise grip to grab the left over part and remove the shaft of the bolt

The Mastercraft Maximum Grabit tool (known in the US as the Alden Grabit) worked well to remove the hex socket pin that was siezed on my front left brake caliper.  I see no reason why it wouldn't work for you, if you select the right size.  See my post below:

These work great.    We have 3 sets in the shop.   Seems like we ruin the same size everytime.      Brake caliper's on a FORD.

I think we got them off of 1 of the Tool Sales truck that stop in weekly.  I just called my good buddy from Snap-On and he said he Thought it was Matco who had bought them off of Harbor Freight, or Tools Plus here in town.

Got it thanks guys. Did what Chris suggested. I did trial drills on a similar sized bolt wanting to go only as big as necessary. Haven't removed the base of the bolt I gave it some penetrating oil to absorb. Don't know why the bolt head was rounded a frozen bolt or worn wrench. It's been that way since I got the bike nobody else has wrenched on the bike.

I like the looks of the proGrabit.

It's been repaired. Only drilling attempted was to remove the Allen head. I used vice grips and the headless shaft turned so I made sure I had a good grip and continued. I don't know how the head was rounded out but the bolt was not welded in the clamp.
