Anyone have any idea where I can get a shorty front fender or have one made?  I have a 2003 black Valkyrie and picked up a good used front fender to use for the shorty mod.  I will store my stock fender and keep it as the original spare.  I really like how the short fender shows off the front tire and gives the bike a whole new look.  I would also like to eventually modify the back fender section to where it is shorter so I can mount the turn signals either in a VTX1300c fashion, or some other configuration.  This would show off the back tire more and also give a newer, lighter look to the otherwise heavy appearance of the stock Valkyrie fenders.  Just shortening the front fender like in these photos would be a great first start.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  (Photos are off of the internet and I do not know the owners of these Valkyries)
Thanks,
Terry

Hey Terry,
The most common mod for a short front fender is using one from a VTX1800, which is what I used as do several others.  Shortening the rear fender is a whole other issue. Mine is a stock fender cut down and filled.  I then bought the Kuryakyn license plate mount with lights to mount everything all in one.  Heres a couple pics.

Rude Dog,

Thanks for the info and pics.  My wife has a VTX1300C and I was going to pull her short front fender off this weekend and see if it would work but I like the smooth looks of your VTX1800 instead and the chrome attachment points.  Does it bolt right on without modifying it?  Also like your fairing.  Was this an IS to start out with or did you add the fairing to a Standard?  I have a spare rear fender that I am going to play with too very soon.  I really want to streamline mine like you did.  Looks great and thanks again for sharing!!!

I have the VTX1800C front fender on my bike, and it's a relatively simple mod.  I also have a VTX1300C front fender and its integrated mount bracket will not clear a Valkyrie front tire in oem width.  It could probably be cut out and made to fit, but to do it right would, IMO, require quite a lot of time building a fixture to secure the fender to a mill.

If/when I do it again, I'll go Master Blaster's route  cooldude to achieve the thinner cut-down look while maintaining more protection behind the tire than the VTX1800C fender provides.

Yes my bike is an Interstate stripped down.  I also like Master B's front fender.  I would try that fender if I was to do it again.

The rear fender on this bike has been done like stealers... chopped and filled. They look good and are expensive to do,  they can take up to 30 man hrs to complete.  I like the looks and would do it. This bike above is one I would like to do, this year!

I cut off the VTX mounts to shorten them and then welded the chrome ends to the Shadow Ace fender for mounting tabs, the fender rides about 1/4 inch off the tire, and gives the effect I was looking for, plus it protects the timing cover from kicked up junk.

Here is another rear photo of the black bike mod.  This is one nice trimmed up custom Valkyrie.  Looks like a totally different animal even with the stock tips.

Have a look at this post from a year ago about what I did to mine, using a replica fibreglass front fender.
