I double checked the Moderation Log, Alph.  No moderator has deleted anything from this thread.  The moderation log doesn't record when a member deletes his own post.  I guess that implies that you're trying really hard to piss yourself off.      

Incidentally, I don't find your assessment of your Valkyrie's value particularly offensive.

I think there are quite a few "for sale"..... based on the CL ads and Ebay, but don't see many "selling", and definitely not at the price of that one.

Guess when he said he's leaving the VRCC, he wasn't kiddin' around was he. 

It's a little (well....alot actually) over done for my tastes, but from what I've seen on ebay, just because he's got some high bids doesn't mean that the winning bidder will actually pony up with the funds.  I've never figured out if it's some kind of joke people play or it it's some kind of attempted scam somebody's trying to pull by bidding with no intention of paying.

I've seen that bike sell now 3 times on ebay ......Yes I check ebay for valk stuff all the time.

The first time it was listed back in January it went for over 13K and the seller pulled the add......and I got a PM here from the seller as well (yep woodwizard's bike).

Then the second time it was up with a reserve of $8500 and it said it sold for 8600?  

Now here it is again up for sale......hope he has better luck riding it than selling it


Hey I might be wrong  on this (been known to be from time to time)  but I'm pretty much 100% sure on this.  As far as most valks being made in Japan........AHHHH I don't think so they were all made right here in Ohio at the Marysville plant right next to goldwings and some models of 400 four wheelers if I remember right.    Mine must be even more rare......doesn't say Made in USA  or   Made in Japan on it

I've had Harleys ,British bikes, Jap from A-Z and still have a 110ci V Twin and have never got the compliments on them as I had the fat gurl!  Just yesterday there were 8 of us, half metrics and Harleys and only rode just a few hours and  I got THREE compliments that ppl went out of their way to get to me- not saying a word to the others! lol  Kinda made me feel good!!

People really do seem to like the valk....just about every time I ride someone says something nice and mine is definitely a rider....not close to a perfect example of a Valkyrie.

Brother... that IS the perfect example of a Valkyrie.  We LOVE these things because of how they RIDE.  At least I do.  The aesthetics are VERY secondary to me.  I think she's beautiful... but she's beautiful because of how she performs.

I just don't get it. It's like you do your best to drive down prices when you should be waving flags and cheering the seller on and hoping he gets a high price! Why the heck does everybody start criticizing and lambasting sellers for asking a higher price and, hopefully, keep the value up on our discontinued bikes? There are so many people who post stuff talking about how stupid a buyer would be to pay such prices when they should shop around and find plenty of Valks at much lower prices. Unbelievable! If you think your bike isn't worth much, that's your problem. But, it would seem to me that, here on a club forum all about how wonderful the bikes are, you would seriously hope to retain their values and promote high resale prices instead of trying to drive them down.

  I'd like to have an IS one day and this is the highest I've seen one.....I guess the only reason I care what they sell for is I'd like to have more .  Could this be the weirdness you speak of?
  I was talkin to a harley guy at work the other day....he was tellin me how he can take a loan out on his harley whenever he needs to.......Guess this is something I hadn't thought of, a motorcycle as a bank account.

I agree.  I see where the eBay auction is at $12,100, I would say this is approaching a respectable
price.  The more he gets, more power to him.  

No one could ever offer me enough for either of my Valkyries that I would be tempted to sell.  I plan to keep them forever.  My family will need to sort it out after I'm gone.

The Valkyrie may soon be as collectable as a 70's muscle car.

People are asking astronomical prices for the Interstates on ebay and others places trying to drive prices up. I also believe resale value should be low, at least reasonable. Also these crazy prices stop a lot of ppl because you have to have cash on the hip- no banks. As much as i love the Valkyrie, before I would pay $12,000 I could buy a 2004 Ultra Classic for that and wouldn't have to worry about resale.

I set my '97 Tourer out by the road w/FS sign early last week. Got two pretty good bites in the two hours it set out. Set it back out Fri. two more prospects in just a couple of more hours. One guy on Fri. had one eye riding a '08 Fat Bob with short loud pipes. Said he was in 13K, and trying to sell, wants the Valk. Said the F.B. was shakin his good eyeball out of the socket. I would not trade even if I had to ride that thing. Only way I would trade, if I knew there would be a fool to buy it for more than my asking price on the Valk. I really hate selling it. What kind of Hardly could you buy for 5K? That was too close, I only have two. Next time I set it out, I'm gonna raise the price.

Have you seen the prices brought on vintage sohc cb750 fours? One in the same condition as my '97 Valk will bring 3 times the original asking price, unless it is a sandcast engine, which brings 10 time msrp.

The market is soft on all toys right now. Buy 'em up. You can easily part one for more than the whole today. Someone storing them up will get rich on the parts 10 or 20 yrs. from now to keep ours going.
