What made this so special is that; we as a nation, set a goal, worked out the problems and made it happen.

So depressing... 43 years later, we should have stood on the shoulders of those giants and gone further, done more, instead of retreating and now having to hitch a ride with the Russians to go to the little symbolic space station that's the sole miniscule toehold of humanity in space.

I saw the episode Fudd, you don't think they had an agenda?? I don't believe anything the governments tell us, 99% of it is bull$hit.
We don't have the technology today to return someone alive from the moon let alone that they had it 43 years ago. Too much radiation past the Van Allen shield. One solar flare would kill you instantly.

I don't believe everything the government says either, but the landing on the moon in 1969 I believe. There's always a conspiracy theorist in the bunch..........

Part of the reason that we cancled the Apollo project early with missions not flown, was we realized we were playing Russian roulette with Solar flares and CME's. We didn't know enough about them or how to predict them. We had close calls which were close to having the "mouse in the microwave" senerio.
We have not ventured out of "low Earth orbit" and the relative safety of the magnetosphere ever since.

I bet all you guys believe Al Gore as well. He is one of the biggest liars of our day.
Britman, Canada does not need to impress anyone but the gov't still lies to us just like every gov't. It was the cold war and the USSR just bested the US in the space race so they had to do something that they knew the USSR could not do. The US could not do it either so they secretly taped the landing here on earth and piped that through NASA control and the world at the right time. Very few people knew the real deal. People only knew what they needed. Gov'ts still work like that today, who knows everything that goes on? Most people bought into it, some didn't.
Everyone will believe what they want to, I choose to believe that they didn't. Too many inconsistencies and it was too easy to fool people back then and then people grow up believing in a lie. We look at the 'great' people and truly believe that they would never lie to us, but they do. If you live a lie long enough you will eventually believe it. I say this not because I had a bad childhood, hell, I had a great childhood. I say it because I have seen how gov'ts treat their populace, like mushrooms. Gov'ts of the past are no different than the ones now or the ones in the future.
Someday we will know for sure, but by then everyone who had anything to do with it will be long dead. So, who will care?

It would seem that Wikipedia doesn't agree: The Flat Earth Society was one of the first organizations to accuse NASA of faking the landings, arguing that they were staged by Hollywood with Walt Disney sponsorship, based on a script by Arthur C. Clarke and directed by Stanley Kubrick. "The mass media catapult these half-truths into a kind of twilight zone where people can make their guesses sound as truths. Mass media have a terrible impact on people who lack guidance". According to James Longuski (Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering at Purdue University), the conspiracy theories are impossible because of their size and complexity. More than 400,000 people worked on the Apollo project for nearly ten years, a dozen men who walked on the Moon returned to Earth to recount their experiences, plus 6 others who flew with them as Command Module Pilots as direct witnesses, and another 9 astronauts who orbited the moon (which proves, at least, that the Saturn-V was capable of reaching the moon. A feat which some hoax theorists claim wasn't possible.) Hundreds of thousands of people—including astronauts, scientists, engineers, technicians, and skilled laborers—would have had to keep the secret. Longuski argues that it would have been much easier to really land on the Moon than to generate such a huge conspiracy to fake the landings http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_landing_conspiracy_theoriesIf any source were to "confirm" that the lunar landings were a hoax I would expect it to be Wikipedia. And come on, YOU would really have us to believe that over 400,000 people have been able to keep a secret for over 40 years ? That would be a greater miracle than Jesus walking on the water.

With a strong enough telescope you can still see the lunar litter so there's no reasonable question as to whether it happened. The important questions are: 1. What kind of oil was used in the lunar rover, Dino or Synthetic? 2. From the highly rounded profile, are those M/C specific tires on what is basically a car? If so ,front and rear, that would be Double DarkSide (of the Moon)!!!

So you must be one of the few that they let in on the secret, eh? So if it's such a big secret, why are you telling us now....wouldn't it still be a big secret?

He was a straight-up guy and took part in post flight equipment evalations. He would have had to be a principal part in any "staged event" and he did not.

Thanks for all your reply guys, I expected as much from you. You are all, after all...American and don't want to believe that your gov't would lie to you on this kind of scale. I bet your view would be different if it was the Russians who said they got there first. Britman, you try too hard to be American. Don't feel like you have to agree with everyone else or they won't accept you. TimG, if you are going to put me on your ignore list because of my views, please do so asap and I will do the same for you because you are just too closed minded of a person. You need to get a grip. I do have a tendency to throw the BS flag when a person posts untruths on a public forum-as in bscrive's comments regarding that the Apollo missions did not occur, even if it is his opinion. Respectfully, TimG.

That would not be enough to cause me to "ignore" them. It would be a different thing, had someone responded with a comment that could be viewed as a personal insult. Although they may think it, no one called anyone a "dumbass" or worse, like has been done in other threads. We can respectifully disagree with each other in a civil mannor. I just feel sad for anyone that thinks that the moon landing achievement was a hoax, because they don't get to share the pride and satisfaction that I have over the Apollo program.

Lookee here........conspiracy theories are fun for a few minutes but most of the time a mature adult gets tired of them after 5 minutes or so...Just get over it
We put a man on the moon
Some radical rag heads were behind 911 (not the US Government)
there are no Big Foots (feet) not sure how you say it
Mermaids are not real
there is no civilization at the center of the earth
Just because the old Mayan dude that was in charge of making calendars may have croaked in the middle of finishing 2012 doesnt mean the world is going to end....In fact that was before leap year was invented so in all actuality Dec 21 2012 has already come and gone as far as the Mayan calendar would have it be.
The sky isint falling, the earth isint warming because of CO2, the sun is no more likely to blow up and destroy life on earth as we know it than it was few thousand years ago, and even if it was an it did......theres nothing any human can possibly do about it, so its like "no worries mate" press on
If you want a real conspiracy theory to be concerned about.....start looking into the motivation behind Obama and his chronies and what they want to do to America..........thats real, thats worth getting worked up over.............we should be banding together to rid the country of such scum, instead of arguing whether or not a flag placed on the moon was real or a video fabrication at a time when we didnt have computer animation or cameras/photography capapable of such quality deception.
IMPEACH OBAMA
and maybe well go back to the moon (and beyond) someday

Perhaps a visit to Cape Canaveral where all the launchs took place so you could see for yourself would do you good. Then again, you'd probably just think that it's all a scam and all of that was built just to justify the illusion.

Don't get me wrong, I have no doubts that man has gone to space. I just don't think that a man has been to the moon.
The reason's I don't believe are:
1. Why could they not use the space suits to clean up Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. If they can withstand the radiation from the sun when they were on the moon, surely they could hold up to the radiation found in the reactors. 2. On two separate missions they have pictures of the exact same landscape but in the second picture there is no signs of the rover or of any evidence it was there. 3. When the lander landed and they show the bottom of the lander, the foil around the bottom does not have any dust on it. 4. When the lander landed no crater was formed by the thrusters and hardly any dust was kicked up but when Aldrin steps out he can leave a foot print on the ground. 5. The triple thrusters on the lander were not perfected. They had enough of a problem trying to get the F35 to work properly these days. The Harrier, built in the 60's was unreliable and I doubt the US gov't would try it on a space craft, but you never know. It was the space race.
But, If I ever saw proof from an impartial third party that the rover is up there, I would gladly give all you guys a huge apology...and buy you a beer.

I'll take a Bush in a long neck.
As for the F35, it's on our test schedule.....we'll be putting it through it's paces when it gets here.
