I looked into buying a new u-joint and noticed the price has doubled From the $65 range to around
$130. WTH! Anybody know of a cheaper place to go. Thanks Bill

Has anyone modified the existing joint lately so it is rebuildable?  A good driveshaft shop should be able to do it for about the cost of a replacement.

thats what i have been wondering.

I have 2 bad ones on the bench right now that have less than 35k each on them.
1 out of my bike with 34k and one out of a friends bike with 25k on it.

Ujoint looks good on both, but it is sloppy inside the yoke.

I wonder what it would take to get these just rebuilt.

HayHauler and I both have one of Free Pass' rebuildable U-Joints.  They were about $90 and you had to send him a rebuildable core (where the caps are static i.e. not turning when you flex the joint).  These have a way to attach a grease fitting and with that, you give them a once yearly squirt and that should keep them running.  If not, the u-joint itself is available at almost any parts store for about $20 bucks and you just replace the bad one in the yoke.

I have it ready as a spare but once the current non-repairable joint blows up, I'll put it in as the main one.
