after reading these posts :
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,15475.160.html
and
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,32905.msg304057.html#msg304057

i would like to ask for an update :

is there still an issue with the air filter Bill supplies with his upgrade kit for the supercharger ?
i thought i ask here before i call Bill again.

i have a second hand blower coming my way, and I contacted Bill to sell me the upgrade kit without the J-tube (carb + air filter ).
i run a standard F6C 1998 (European model), with an IS tank.

do i need to ask him not to sell me the air filter and make my own setup, or is there already a solution ?
thanks in advance,
Anthony

As far as I know you will get an air filter like this one from Bill.

The mod that I talked about in your second thread is what I'm still running today. I also helped a friend do the same mod on his supercharged Valkyrie. I can list the parts that I used to make the air snorkel and filter to bring it out to the side as you can see in these pictures. It's a really tight fit that takes some fiddling to get the lengths and angles of the snorkel to work but it can be done with care and patience. I have an Interstate tank as well and had to switch to a Pingel petcock to get clearance. I'll have to look up the Pingel model number because it's not the usual Pingel for Valkyries. I  had to relocate an ignition coil which meant fabricating new spark plug wires. I also had to remove a sliver of metal from the left engine hanger for clearance. Finally, in my case, I had to modify the left Kuryakyn transmission cover by cutting out a "window" on the top of the cover. The cutout now makes a nice cradle that holds the snorkel securely. The setup has been flawless since completed and the carburetor fuel mixtures have been perfect after I changed my slo-jet to a 27.5 from a 25. Maybe RJ Miles will chime in here and tell us how his air filter conversion went and how it's doing. I helped with the preliminary cutting of the snorkel but he did the final installation and found his installation to be a bit more challenging in some ways. He has a Standard gas tank and that may have contributed to some of the differences.

Finally, I added Baker Air Wings this summer and keep the left air wing canted in slightly. This pushes the air stream just enough to push the hot air from the radiator to the right and it misses the air filter. Without this I found that the hot air from the radiator was hitting the front of the air filter. Once an engine is warm, cool air is always better for performance. My right leg is now warmer than my left after this tweak.

Hello BonS,
i would like to take you up on that offer for listing the parts used :
air filter,
what curves to make,
pingle valve,
maybe you have a better picture  ? top view without the tank ?

can't have too much information.

I'll see what I can do. Parts list is relatively easy. Pictures will take more time. Again, maybe RJ Miles can help out with some pictures of his installation.

The intake snorkel parts are from http://siliconeintakes.com/

4 x Stainless Steel 2.5" Worm Gear Clamp (46-70mm) (CLA001042) = $5.96
2 x Stainless Steel Joiner, 2.5" (JOI000112) = $15.98
1 x 2.5" Silicone 90° Elbow, Black (SIL000033) = $16.99
1 x 2.5" Silicone 135° Elbow, Black (SIL000664) = $29.99

The 135 degree elbow is cut way down and fits to the carburetor. The SS joiners are carefully scalloped so that the inside of the intake path is smooth. This is where most of the work is.

The petcock is so close to the intake snorkel that it presses against it and indents it slightly. This is why the OEM petcock has to be replaced because it's too big. I cut away some of the SS joiner to make this area soft so it could press in slightly to accommodate this interference.

The air filter is from K&N and is part number RA067V $45
It has an offset intake and that's critical in the fit-up.

The Pingel petcock that I used was a Model 6391-CH. It's turned on and off from the right side and the fuel nipple points down on the left side. The rotation of the petcock is about 15-25 degrees off-normal. You can't tell this when using it and the rotation avoids some of the interference. http://www.pingelonline.com/powerflo_6391.htm

Finally, I have to strongly recommend using Motion Pro fuel tubing because it's supple, kink resistant and lasts forever. http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/12-0055/

I may be removing the tank sometime soon to install GPS cradle wiring and will take some pictures for you.

Having second thoughts about the SS clamps mentioned in my previous post. If I remember correctly they were too small in diameter and I ended up getting some from an auto parts store. I probably sized them for the ID instead of the OD.
