On some bikes the lower section(part the axle runs through) is screwed on the lower tube. Is that how it's done on the Valk? I've never had to address this in the past but contemplating some additional chrome in front and not sure that part is included.

Karen Brooks asked me see if I could give you a hand.   I remembered seeing a post a while back about being able to unscrew the fork tube.

Here is a link

Hope this helps

Here's a link to a thread of mine from about a month-ish ago.  I had to ask this same question due to some nasty rock damage to my right slider.  They are threaded on, and was told a GOOD heat gun aids in removal. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,46851.msg446505.html#msg446505

That told me what I needed to know. Now I'm wondering about that lower piece....should I chrome it or polish it? I currently have one of those chrome covers mounted over them and they look OK. Maybe a good polishing is all that's needed in that case.

I can polish them for you, I think we misunderstood each other the other day,  The chrome ones that I have seen from mike are the upper tubes, and the lower ends. All the guts from your forks need to go in the new ones.

IMHO polishing versus chroming would be a pretty easy decision to solve.  Which holds up better in the salty Florida air?
