I'd like to add a Usb port to the Valk and the Subaru for charging the Ipod thingy. Would like something I can hardwire in, but don't know much about the USB thingy other that its built into the side of my computer.

Connect one to a relay from a fused wire from the battery triggered by the AUX wire. I have three USB ports, a power point and cig lighter connected to a fuse panel under the seat that's powered that way. With several fuses available you can connect other stuff down the road; like a port to charge your cell phone, GPS, sound system...

Mine looks like that, but with two USB ports. One runs my Ipod and the other my Garmin Zumo 220. I cut the cig lighter part off and wired it to my fuse panel.

I just wrapped one up for my son-in-law for Christmas. It has 2 USB ports and can charge 2.1 amps. Another one on the rack had a single USB and was rated at 1 amp.

I have had one on order since June, still waiting   Sad

Kind of pricey, but it supplies 2 amps, enough to charge an Ipad

I installed the Eklipes Cobra Chrome Motorcycle Power Adapter, it looks sharp and was cheap (have I ever mentioned I am cheap?).  It has an on/off switch with LED indicator, plus the standard cig lighter and also a USB power port.  It comes with a BMW jumper plug that handles over 2000 cranking amps for jump starting.  It can be had for around $30, check eBay.

Does that work as a cig lighter? I tried many 'power points' and none worked as a lighter. I finally got the Emgo lighter, weather resistant and big head for use wearing gloves.

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/14/141/20809/DPITEM/Cruiser-Motorcycle-Power-Accessories-Emgo-Handlebar-Mount-Cigarette-Lighter.aspx

I sealed the wiring in a pill bottle, siliconed to the bottom of the lighter and painted black.

Nope, unfortunately the 12v plug only works for chargers and such, not lighters.  Still, it is a pretty nice unit, especially with the BMW jump adapter.

This is the one I was looking at installing.

http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/dual-usb-auxilary-socket-for-motorcycles/part/BBP-52-820

2 x 2.1amp outputs

There was also a mounting bracket available to mount onto the handle bars.
