« on: June 11, 2013, 06:26:54 PM »

I finally joined the I own a Valkrie club !  Six weeks ago I spotted a Valkrie that I really wanted but didn't know at the time if It'd work or not !

I managed to talk Attic Rat into selling me one out of his personal collection !  I say talk him out it but he did actually have it for sale ! My 2000 Stnd BW bumblebee is as good or better than off the showroom !  I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming !  This past Thursday I flew to Tulsa to buy it and then rode it home back here to Florida - after riding 150 miles with Bob & Russell through the Ozarks - I headed home - 1000 miles later and it's parked beside my Triumph !

He also has a 97 Stnd - in the rare purple & white - I had my heart set on the one got BUT that 97 - WOW - no words or pictures can do it justice - again it looks brand new - 12,000 miles, new tires, and Attic Rat's legendary performance upgrades - if I were rich I'd fly back to Tulsa tomorrow and buy it to ! Of course I'd end my 32 yr marriage if I did that - LOL !

At any rate - someone from here needs to take that girl home with them  !

I'm on my cell phone but when I get my computer - I'll post some pictures of mine !

Yes indeed !  The ride back was GREAT ! If I can swing it, I'm gonna start a mini road trip of 300 + miles every few weeks.  I've been busting my butt for weeks now to make the bike and ride out there happen !
The one I bought had less than 8,000 miles on it !  I have an 04 Triumph Speedmaster than I love and I'm keeping but I swear if I had the money - that 97 would be mine to !  You have to see it believe how nice it is !  It was one wicked ride !

Yes it's a GREAT bike !  Being new to Valkyries the only thing I can remember with newness and feel is a micro version I had around 1970 - my Honda CB450 and that's really no comparison at all - I've owned lots of Hondas, Yamahas, etc.... But I was not prepared for the thrill of this beast !

I have had many motorcycles over the years. Traded and sold most of them before they even needed the tires changed. Always wanted something better, faster, smoother, bigger, etc. I can say without a doubt the Valkyrie is the only bike I have owned that I have not "outgrown" or got "bored" with!! That's why it has been the bike I have owned the longest. It's a fun ride everytime I take it out. Mine's a 1999, fourteen years old and and I always get approached with questions like "what is it", "look at that engine", "never seen one like it" "wow, bet that thing is fast".  Grin Welcome to the world of the Valk. Enjoy!!  cooldude

Yes sir - you just summed it up !  I get comments from Triumph from guys that rode them back in 60's & 70's - BUT not nearly as much as the Valkrie !  I feel very at ease on it even way way out of town - I mean - heck it's a Honda !  What a bonus !!
I do love my Triumph as well - had a 68 Bonnieville in high school so the memories drew me to the Speedmaster ( same frame and motor as the new Bonnieville - and these new ones don't leak oil the way 99% of the old ones did !

I plan on keeping this Valkyrie for ever and since I'm 59 - I couldn't be more serious !

I sure would like to see someone from the forum buy the 97 that Attic Rat has !

Crap - are all of those yours ?  Darn - are you and Attic Rat related ?  I think I counted 5 Valkries at his place + one 79 BMW in showroom condition !

I agree - I was blown away with his knowledge and expertise !  His passion for Valkyries is very obvious within minutes of meeting him + he can ride extremely well as in leaving me in his wake many times during our 150 mile ride !

Prepare yourself to be accosted at every stop light and gas station with oogles, drools, and either envious or confused stares. And don't forget to remind those dastardly HD owners that your bike too was made in the USA.

+1 on that!  Try to keep it dirty and full of bugs like mine so you can somewhat easier (still happens though) make your rounds and ride it instead of having to chat all the time with strangers that come up to you and admire the beast.   Cheesy

Man oh man, I love the paint scheme on the Beetle Bags.    That sets your girl off like a 4th July fire cracker.      Good purchase.

If I wasn't restricted to only a short distance to home, I'd grab that Burple/White one.      That same color was my 2nd Valk, and I decided I had one too many bikes.     Had it setting in the driveway after a wash and Mequair's quick wax.    Just had a 'For Sale' on it with NO $$$$ amt.   Guy & his wife stopped, came up looked it all over top to bottom and front to rear.    He asked what I wanted for it, since I really didn't want to sell it, I quoted him a grand over what I thought it was worth.      He dig into his front pocket and came out with cold cash in the correct amount.     So I let it go.

When he took off down the street with it and his wife in the Camaro chasing him, I knew I had made a mistake.       Actually it was the only mistake I ever made in my life and then I found out later it was not a mistake.   angel LOL.

A nice Big Picture of His BumbleBee would be nice to see.
By the way I wasn't trying to Hi-Jack his post, just thought a picture of our bike was appropriate being we own one also.

Bob's Burple Valk (heh that rhymes) is awesome... seen his ad in the classifieds.  Have to wait though until I can save up some cash.  Tried to buy signart's 97 green/creme a short time ago & my credit union won't release a check until they have a title in-hand, which makes an out-of-state buy rather... difficult, to say the least.   Sad   I'd love to have another fat lady to accompany my Vaquero, but just can't right now.   Angry

It should last most of us the rest of our lives or until we god forbid get into an accident.  angel]]

However,  I'd still like to have my stock I/S and buy a loud cobra exhaust std. or tourer and terrorize the neighborhood with it or ones with the gatlin guns exhaust.  There wouldn't be another sound like it in the entire town sea of HD's.  cooldude

I've got to figure out how to post pictures !  Seems every forum is different and I've yet to post any !  I have taken several !

I've ridden everyday since I bought the bike from Attic Rat  last Thursday and I have had no less  than 3 people each day come up and comment on it !

My next door neighbor has a HD Roadking - it's a beautiful bike and I've ridden it several times ! But the Valkyrie is so different in everyway from power to sound !  That being said - yesterday I rolled into his driveway and he told me that if I hadn't told him and he hadn't looked at the odometer, he'd have thought it was brand new !  That's how I feel riding - it's so darn tight, smooth, and obviously very powerful, I could make that ride from Tulsa to here all over again tomorrow !

Here's trying to post images of the new Valkyrie and the ride back to Florida from Tulsa !
The first couple of shots were taken just after crossing the MS River Bridge in Greenville, MS at around 7:30 am after riding from Dumas, AR - I think I rode around 450 miles the first day - from there I spent the next 2 nights in Jackson, MS catching up with a couple of buddies from high school.
The ride was great - the bike - even better !

I'm glad I've finally joined the Valkyrie crowd.  I've gotten more compliments in the past few days since I've owned the bike than I can count.  No doubt I'll have some questions in the future, but for now, I'm enjoying the heck out of getting to know this fine machine !

By the way we are riding to Palatka Fla. to have lunch at Corky Bells Seafood restaurant on Saturday, June 15. You could meet some of us Fla. Valk. Riders there, if not we hope to meet you sometime down the road,

The only thing I've even briefly considered is trading the Triumph on an enduro ( dual purpose ) preferably a Honda XR 650L - but even better is keeping both the Triumph and Valkyrie  and getting the enduro !  For now I have no plans to get rid of the Triumph !
