Okay so October is rapidly approaching! Man where did the year go? Anyway our Brothers and Sisters to the East put on an awesome Fall Color ride. Each year it gets better and better I think. I have made a couple of these and they are great rides. JoeValkIS has a post up on the main board, which I will copy onto the end of this post. The question is how many of us Kansas folk are coming this year, we usually have a pretty good representation. So I have coming so far:

Cyndi and I
Dave and Pam
Joe and Teryl+
Gary and Ginger are uncommitted due to harvest at this time.

So is there anyone else? If so chime in and don't forget to make your reservations. When we get closer we can come up with route and maybe ride together.

Here is JoeValkIS's post from the main board:

Mark your calendars....Make your reservations...

When:

October 18-20th

Ride is October 19, 2013

Ground Zero Hotel:

Eldon Inn
200 U.S. 54 Business
Eldon, MO
573-392-5664
www.eldoninn.com

You can make your reservations by calling or online.  Mention that you are with the VRCC group (you can put it in the comment box on the online reservations).

Rate:

Single Queen Room - $45
Double Queen Room - $55

The hotel does not provide breakfast so we will meet up at a cafe in town for breakfast.

Route:

Winding our way around Lake of the Ozarks for about 115 miles.

The route is at his link:  Missouri Fall Colors Ride 2013

Lunch will be at the Willowes Bar and Grill

We will plan to have stands up at 10:00 am.  That should put us at Willowes around 11:30-12pm.  This will also give the people that are not staying at ground zero a chance to get there for the start of the ride.  (It is about 3 hrs from St. Louis and Kansas City.)

Dinner will be announced at the ride.  I am looking at a couple of places around the lake.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me via private message or email.

Thanks,

JoeValkIS

I had a route created but the "short link" for google maps is now not recognizing or remembering my route I created.  SO.... I will be making a new route and will post it soon tomorrow.  Teryl and I will be taking a meandering route to Eldon,Mo and will cross Harry S. Truman reservoir three times on our way to a five hour tourer Cheesy

If anyone wants to join up that would be great if not we will just plan on seeing you there.  I will edit this post when I get the new link...

Well the Kansas group made it safe and sound and DRY! A bit cool toward the end, but really not a bad day! Went to supper and of course the rain caught us and we got wet. Thank goodness it was only three miles. Sounding cool tomorrow but no rain hopefully so far in the forecast.

Later,

Well what a great day. Smiley Started off a bit chilly, 37 degrees, and a bit cloudy. tickedoff The 8 a.m. trip to breakfast was brisk, but short. Shocked We started with a large group of about 15-16 that quickly grew to close to 25 I think, didn't get an exact number. Undecided Breakfast was okay, not exceptional, but edible. ??? By the time we wore out our waitress and we went to leave the sun was shining and the temps were rising.  Cool Joe and Chip lead a great ride through some beautiful countryside and fantastic roads.  Wink We stopped at "Willowes" 2funny for a good lunch and fellowship, then some more riding to "jacob's cave" where about half of us wandered around on an hour tour.  Lips Sealed Then it was move brisk riding back to the motel. A short break and off we went to a Mexican eatery, whose name escapees me, Roll Eyes for some good eating as well. We wore out two waiters there! 2funny Then back to the motel for a Bon Fire, tire kicking, and true telling!! angel It was a great day that just flew by. Sad Tomorrow's goodbyes will bring sadness Cry in know it is already over and we have to say goodbye to friends we do not see near enough.
