Well guys, one year since I got my new to me Valk, it happened. Hydrolocked as I was going to head home Sunday night I posted on the Tech board to get some advise on how to proceed. Done some reading by using the search feature but still have some questions so if anyone here has some advise, it will be greatly appreciated. Did not want to double post so here is the link for the thread. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,60836.0.htmlThanks in advance. Jack

Luckily I have not had that problem so no first hand experience here. No. 6 if you don't have a manual fuel valve yet is where the vacuum line is connected to supply the fuel valve. If your petcock vacuum side has a leak it will allow fuel to run back down that line and fill #6 cylinder with gasoline and yes some probably went into the oil, but you were going to change it anyway right? You might be lucky and the tooth or teeth will be there at the drain plug, probably not my luck buy maybe yours will be better. I recently put a manual Pingle 6211CH on the Interstate. Had a couple of diaphragms develop a pin hole and it would not hold a vacuum so finally relented and changed to the manual. You could still leave it on, but it won't go down #6 because you will remove and plug that line at the intake. I would not crank it until I found the pieces if it were mine. It might be blocking the oil pump pickup or get between some gears and cause more damage. Some like the Dan-Marc, but I did not install one, just another thing that could fail in my opinion and leave you stranded.

Well, I am on my way to getting my Valk repaired. This is where I stand right now I am in the process of getting my parts ordered but I also found out that there are a few tools required and they are not cheap. Is anyone local that has this tools and would not mind me using them? I'll be looking to getting to the fixing up this week and have them back to you the following week. Here is a list of the tools needed: Clutch Center Holder Pins 07VMB-MZ0010A Holder Plate 07HGB-001010A Lock Nut Wrench 46mm 07JMA-MN50100 Clutch Outer Holder 07JMB-MN50100 Main Shaft Holder 07JMB-MN50200 Lock Nut Wrench 30x64mm 07916-MB00002 Be safe out there and enjoy this beautiful weather.

The only things you really need is the two deep sockets. I've done dozens of motors and don't own the rest of those tools. I have the sockets you need if you want to use them. And you can, and I do, reuse the nuts. Check out my site, old but good info on how to get around the clutch tools. If you have an impact wrench http://jkozloski.com/pics2/clutch/Clutch%20101.htm

You can reuse gaskets too. I have done it dozens of times. though I believe I have those in stock too.

Looks like progress alright. Step one remove engine. Ditto on following JeffK's advice. It's not his first rodeo taking a Valkyrie engine apart and repairing things like new pistons etc. Not to make him look like an old guy but I am sure he can help.

was going to say just throw it in the truck and we could whip it apart and back together in a couple of hours, at my house. But I don't see you checking in.

Jeff K, Just got home from work and seen your responses. Really appreciate any help, specially since I am a newby at this. I do not own or have access to an air compressor or impact gun. I'll pm you Thanks a lot.

Well guys, just got home from work and here to give an update of the progress. Talked to Jeff K this morning and he stood by his offer to help so I loaded the engine on my trailer and headed over to his house. Got to his house around 11:15 and met Jeff for the first time. Many of you said "listen to Jeff K, he knows what he is talking about" and that is exactly the way it is. You might want to consider him like a "Valk Wisperer" , he put his hand over the timing cover and said that my engine had less than 50k, my Valk now has 40k. The guy went to town and I felt like I just needed to get out of his way or I would just slow him down. It was hard for me to stand around and just witness the surgeon at work, that is not my character, but I did manage to at least hold the engine for him a couple of times I learned a lot and most important, got to met Jeff and his lovely wife. It was 1:30 pm and it was all done, just as he had said " a couple of hours" of work. I know many of you already know this but let me say this: Jeff is a class act, he offered to help a complete stranger and opened the doors of his shop on a Saturday to help out a fellow Valk rider. THANK YOU JEFF.Hope I can pay it forward int he near future. Here is a couple of pics I managed to take of the engine on the middle of the operation. My next step is to get the carbs cleaned out and rebuilt and to get the OEM petcock replaced. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel

I say it all the time..We have some great people on this board. It makes you feel good all over seeing how members are willing to help other members. I have been the most fortunate recipient myself from several of them, John Schmidt, Bill Gurney (Grumpy) to name a couple. So glad this is working out for you and thanks Jeff (Jeff's are so cool huh?) for giving of your time and talent. Jeff

Just went thru the same thing in my bike. Had to replace the same gear. It was a little slow for me since it was my first time going into the engine, but we got'er done and all's well again. Hope you get yours back together and going soon.
I found red RTV had been used on 3 of my carbs. The strings floating around in the bowl most likely caused my hydrolock. Hope you find the culprit as well!!

It was nice meeting you to Jack! Like I said Jeff isn't happy unless he's "tinkering" on something in the shop. I did get him out for a ride to Daytona yesterday, the weather was beautiful!
I'm sure we will see you again in the future.

I just did, yesterday. I can't make the flywheeler ride but hoping I can do the next ride. Here is my post at the Tech Board, I know it is a double post but did not want to leave this thread without the final outcome. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AND SHE RIDES AGAIN Happy to report that 17 days later and I got my Valk back up and running again. I found out that I really, really, really dislike waiting for parts to arrive. Here is some information on what I found as repairs were being done, but it is important to give a little background on the bike: I bought it a year ago from an auction company, it was running and needed some cosmetic repairs. PO had laid it down and my Ins. Co. had written it off, I took a chance and bought it even tough I was completely new to the Valk world. Seemed to me that it was running ok but it did have a little miss at idle. One of the first thing that I did was to get new tires and check and service the rear splines. I rebuilt the crabs, got a Pingle and Golan in line fuel filter but I was not prepared to find that the OEM Petcock was clogged with crud and dirt, never taught that a gas tank could be that filthy. So there was the cause of the Hydrolock, all that dirt went through the fuel system and caused the failure of the petcock and float valves. This is what the carbs looked like when I first opened them. This is how they turned out with new 38 slow jets and new float valves. This is what I found when the petcock came off This is the new Pingle with an extended pick up Motor ready to go back in I want thank all the brothers that step up to help out as I reached out to them for advice, I got to say that they were very patient and took the time to respond to my question. JeffK thank you for spending your personal time on your Saturday at your shop, helping me get my motor fixed.
1500Rider, John Schmidt, Mark T and BonS.THANK YOU
