A late reply to a fantastic weekend.
I had a great time riding and hanging out with the crew. It was good to have George and his wife along, also Cory, and English Dave. Those folks fit right in. Bob J showed up again after laying low for several years. Welcome back Bob. A big thanks to Seth and Cheryl for leading us through SW CO.. Good food, good riding, and good friends. Does it get any better? To answer my own question, yes it does. Just after the last bike pulled away from Ron's my good buddy from the great state of Texas rolled up the driveway. Disco Dave Garb showed up to the party. What a cool surprise. Thanks Dave. Dave came to the house and spent the night with JP and the rest of my family. Dave rolled out the next morning to tour CO with some friends. They will be riding some of the same roads that we were on. Bad timing at work kept him from joining the Darby ride. JP hung around for another day which was his birthday and we grilled some steaks and had cake. JP rolled out Wednesday am headed for home. I was lucky enough to spend seven days hanging out with friends and riding motorcycles. I got to top it off with a birthday party with my long time friend. Happy Birthday Buddy.
I've got a week to catch up at work and then Dick is going to force my to ride another four or five thousand miles through Canada and the Pacific North West, then coming down the west coast before heading home. Dick and I will have ridden to all four borders together this summer if I can keep up.
Thanks to all for a great second annual Darby Hager the Horrible ride. You were sorely missed my friend. RIP. MARK YOUR CALANDERS FOR NEXT YEAR. Ride safe.  cooldude

Great picture of a wonderful person.

Next Friday I get to ride to Montrose for my oldest brothers wedding. I might be in Gunnison for lunch, any recommendations?

Garlic Mike's is probably our best restaurant, but it's only open for dinner and reservations are recommended.  5B's is good for BBQ.  It you want one of the best burgers and sandwiches around anywhere on the planet the Power Stop is the place to go.

Thanks for the tips on food. Leaning towards BBQ. Not sure what time but the plan is before noon. Looks like a larger chance of rain on the route if I drag my heels Smiley

Last ride was a great one with Colorado riders. But like I said it was the last one. I sold my Green Dragon. Something told me it was time to give it up. Met a lot of really nice people here.

Bummer, Phil!  I really enjoyed meeting and riding with you.  I sure hope you won't become a stranger.  Are you hanging up riding, or just changing bikes?  Best of luck to you and Lupe.   cooldude

Aah, just reread the texting comment.  Hope you didn't have a "near death".  It's sure understandable, I gotta admit I dread riding in front range traffic anymore, but I guess I'm just as likely to be taken out by deer or elk in the mountains.

My current plan puts me in Gunnison about 10:30 .... looks like lunch is in Montrose.
The return trip will be early Sunday, can I get a rain check on lunch?

Anybody have a ride idea for Sunday?  Looks like the pick day on the weekend.  Like to get out on George for a shorter ride or check out my new swivel hitch on Jade before I do a road trip within the month to WI.

BTW Dick et al I found the road by the log church S of Pine and took it on the way back from Clearview a few days ago. Great road but I stayed along the river after the fork and so had the dirt until almost the Sedalia turnoff. Wish that 5+ mile section was paved, great road otherwise. The road before the dirt was a good drive. Gonna have to check out the left fork next time.

BTW Clearview was moving when I stopped there.  To Fort Collins I think. I see they haven't updated their web page yet.

Let me check on this Saturday morning. I know I am booked in the afternoon.

Tentatively, Rosie's in Monument? Or something actually in COS?
