Haven't said much here as I did not know Darby personally, but have been watching every day and praying for him and his family. Such a tragic event. Thanks for the updates. I know that there are many, many like myself that check this thread every day, and will continue to do so. Blessings on the family.

Clearly Darby and his family draw their strength from their faith. A tragic time in their lives yet they are fulfilling Darby's wishes. May HE that watches over us all continue to provide them comfort and strength at this time.

May the Lord wrap his loving arms around you and the family and give you comfort.  Darby will be meeting up with our friends Wizard, Laser Pat, Thumper, Oldskool, Hoghead and others in the VRCC chapter in Heaven.

Prayers for strength coming your way from Arlington, Texas.

Sad

I have no words of comfort, we have all lost a friend.   Hopefully we'll all ride the twisties, cruise the highways and share the wind in heaven together another day.

I can sincerely say that I'm better for the experience of meeting and riding with Darby even though we only spent 3 days together. I'll always remember the fun we had joking about if we were getting on the right motorcycle, you see we had identical black and red Interstates. Until we meet again my friend.
Continued prayers for Terri and Darby's family.

What a melancholy morning.  I also am a much better man for having met Darby.  While I am sad, I know Darby is having a good time.  He will be with us forever, but this time he doesn't have to come back!  RIP, bro'.

The memorial service has been scheduled for Friday the 12th, 11am, Canon Community Baptist Church, 1111 Monroe, Canon City, Colorado 81212. We will also be having a graveside service in Hinckley, Minnesota in a couple of weeks.

One more thought to our VRCC family.  The need for prayer for Darby's family doesn't end with his home going. Please keep them in mind through the Memorial Service tomorrow and beyond!  It's supposed to get all the way up to 46 Fahrenheit tomorrow. Hope to see other Valks there anyway! 11:00 AM at Canon Community Baptist Church in Canon City.

Note: In less than two weeks folks from 25 States and 2 foreign nations have checked in through our VRCC website to express prayer and concern for Darby and his family.   Thanks to all.

A good reminder Dean. I have the Valk in Hot Rod Mode (no windshield), but I am planning on attending and riding the Valk there.

We plan to come - via cage.  Forecast is for cold and June is a warm weather rider.  Not to mention Deerslayer and the Magna are both down for minor work.

At lunch in Gunnison Sat 8/30, via Iphone.  This is the only pic I've seen sans hat & sunglasses:

We finally went though the pictures Hollyday took while up in Colorado.  We found these two.  This was right after the group ate breakfast and headed north from Lake City up towards Gunnison.

Rode through a little rain and a few snow flurries. Temps hovering right around the freezing mark. Darby had a very nice memorial service and I was glad that I chose to ride. It gave me a little  more time to reflect on his life. Man what a good dude he was. Terri, his wife is as good as they come. What a brave and kind lady. I am going to miss my friend but I know in my heart that he is in a better place. I will sorely miss riding with ole Darby. I don't remember a single complaint from Darby in all of the miles that we shared. Terri is headed to MN to hold another memorial service with his family. Soon this will all be behind her and she will have to start a new chapter in her life as a widow again. Terri lost her first husband in a motocycle accident. I will be praying for her and her 5 year old grandson that they have been raising. It's not going to be easy for either one of them. If you read this and care to please say a prayer for Terri. Thank you. Adios compadre.  cooldude

Well said Damon.  Please keep Terri, Xander and Darby's entire family in your prayers.

It was a beautiful memorial, and at one occasion heartbreaking when little Xander took the microphone and said how much he missed Papa and wanted him to come back to him.  I know we all choked up.

I guess one thing I forgot to mention was what a blast it was just being around Darby.  He was a fun dude, and sure wasn't above participating in the friendly banter that arose at almost every stop.  Darby had a lot of fun, and he was a lot of fun.

Dave there is no doubt in my mind that you and Darby would have been great friends. Knowing your character and his you would of had a strong bond. He was really looking forward to attending his first Inzane this year.
For those of you that are on the fence about attending your first Inzane don't put it off. There are so many great people that you will meet and form life long friendships with. Darby always thought that he would catch the next one too. Unfortunately the next one never came for him. Do yourselves a favor and get out and meet your fellow Valkyrie riders. They are a great group of fine folks and a huge part of my life. I am very blessed with the friends that I have because of this motorcycle. Do not take tomorrow for granite.  cooldude
