Okay..got about 2K on the bike now...love everything about it cept' really the seat....

It has broken in somewhat...but after 60+ miles or me arse starts getting sore..

Which seats do you guyz whom replaced them think are the best...and are they truly more comfortable?

Thanks!

I am very happy with the stock solo however the lady that sits behind me is not happy with that potato chip for a passenger seat. I will give you a report after we have a few miles on the new Corbin.  I am anxious to see and hear a report when Brian does the Russell day long.  I had a Russell day long on my 2000 Valkyrie interstate and it was really nice!!!

I emailed Dez at Ultimate today and they have no current plans for a seat.  More requests might help.

I have the Corbin seat. It is real comfortable and functional. These motorcycles
can go 200 miles easy, I'm used to getting gas every 100 or so with the Tourer...
The Corbin seat seems hard after a while.

I bet a stock pan with a Russell seat with a backrest built into the driver's seat
would be awesome... They build backrests into driver's seats, I guess they
could do it with the 1800 valkyrie seat pan.

I also have "big handlebars"... I slid back and forth in the Corbin
seat before I had handlebars that allowed me to "plug in" in to the
backrest...

Corbin is going on mine that is almost the only game in town. I even have a guy who custom makes seats take a look and he can do it but said order the Corbin and if need be we will modify it.

I sure up around Chicago you will find a good home brew seat guy that can help out for a lot less than the national seat guys. I used a guy in Mesa Az for years, had 50 years in the M/C seat bidness. He would take a stock riders seat and add better foam and gel if requested and recover for about $150 give or take $50 depending on size of seat. He worked out of his home. The Little Seat Shop is just 1 reason I miss living in Az.

I am getting my seat redone by Russell Daylong this winter and they will reuse my Utopia backrest.  cooldude  Russell will redo the front and back for $600.  I have always wanted one and now I will finally get one.  The bike will be perfect after it is on, and I have my Corbin bags.
I was going to go with a Corbin, but then I found out that you have to remove the seat to take off the side covers.  I access my right side cover quite often, so that was out for me.

I have a few miles or KM's on my 1800. I will be putting on a back rest and maybe
getting a local motorcycle upholsterer to work on the seat. Need more time to see
what needs to be done. Also will get a shield of some kind when it gets cooler.
I see bescrive has made a set of handle bars. Interesting but looks like a lot of work.
Also hubcapsc mentions "big handle bars"
Can you let me know what and where they are from?

Even if you don't smelt your own ore to make handlebars  Wink , big handlebars for
the 1800 Valkyrie are hard to get...

Making a set of handlebars is not hard nor does it take much time.  It took me a day to make the bars. It also took another day to extend the wiring, and another day to put on the new brake, clutch and throttle cables.

It took me a bunch of days just to figure out where to get some decent wire loom...

I just finished an 1800 mi ride.
The factory seat was killing me after 4 hrs in the saddle. On all of my scoots except one I've had to get an after market seat to be comfortable. None, however have felt as bad as the OEM Valk seat.
I borrowed a gel pad to get back home and was able to get through a 12 hr 624 mi day. Still had pressure points but overall not has painful as the stock seat itself. I'll probably use the gel pad for the foreseeable future or until the aftermarket manuf's start to offer something worthwhile. I'm not a big fan of Corbin seats. I emailed Mustang and they replied they have no plans to make a seat for the new Valk.
The Valk is such a great all-around bike I hate that it was fitted with such a poor stock seat. I know some have no problems with the saddle as sold, I'm not one of them.

Hopefully someone will make a decent solo seat.  Aftermarket support for the Valkyrie isn't quite going as well as I'd like.

mrtappan,
I agree!
The aftermarket parts manufacturers are taking their sweet time putting products in the market place.
I beginning to feel most of them do not see a sufficient number potential customers for Valk specific items. Parts/accessories that fit the entire Goldwing, F6B and F6C family may be all we have to choose from.

The Valkyrie isn't a bad bike but it needs the basics to me:
Seats
Windshields
Exhaust/Power Commander
Saddlebags

Without those, I doubt I'll end up keeping mine very long unless I decide to just build all that myself.

mrtappan,
I'm very happy with the bike, especially the eng/trans, I really don't need any additional power.
However, a comfortable seat and perhaps a better set of tires would be my next "must have" items.
I found a small windscreen that works great and was able to load 6 days of clothes into a sissy bar back pack on my recent trip.
I prefer the naked look look of the Valk and wouldn't want to mount any bags on the rear.

I would assume that you would move out of the cruiser class?  What would you buy?

Thats a good question.  I ended of with a Valkyrie for two reasons: I always said I'd buy a fuel injected one when they made one and I'd already owned pretty much every 1700+cc v-twin.

So when I went looking for a new bike, the Valkyrie was there.  I assumed that it would have about the same product support as previous Hondas so I didn't really think twice about buying one.

Really at this point I'll probably just play the waiting game.  If Honda ever builds a 2000cc or bigger flat six, thats what I'll probably get.  Although there's really no telling.  It depends on who makes what kind of future models.  Right now there's nothing that really catches my eye so Valkyrie it is.

so far the stock seat hasn't given me any issues...that said I haven't ridden anymore than 4hours non stop. plus i'm used to cycling for 4-5 hours non stop on a VERY uncomfortable racing saddle. But if i did end up switching out, i'd probably go with the Russell Day long...Never read a bad review on them. Corbin look great, but i've seen quite a few posts by riders who were disappointed with their corbin seat.
