I got a little crazy and bought a gallon of whole milk. Sitting in front of the fire place in my study sipping it and reading a novel while smoking a pipe.  Shocked

A new favorite, remarkably smooth.
"Blonde starts with rare heirloom Turkey Red Wheat and White Corn, grown on Peaceful Valley Farm in the lowland hills of Western North Carolina. That same strain of corn has been grown continuously at Peaceful Valley since the mid 1800’s, tended by generations of the McEntire Family.  And in the 1800’s our wheat first arrived, brought by Mennonites eager to start new lives in a new land, but unwilling to let go of the memory and the taste of home. Modern hybrids have bigger yields and are more resistant to weather and pests, but the older grains have a flavor and softness the newer versions can’t match."
Hard to find up north, have to mail order it and the shipping is ridiculous.

What, no 15 year old Boones Farm?

Man, talk about a blast from the past.  I get the shivers just looking at the picture.  We used to have chug races of whole bottles in the dorm.  Zero to all F'd up in 30 seconds for 99 cents.  Lot of pukin' too.

I've mentioned Watkins Select Maple Bourbon before in this thread.

http://www.totalwine.com/spirits/bourbon//watkins-select-maple-bourbon/p/135122750?s=801&igrules=true

Was buying a new bottle today when I saw this

http://www.totalwine.com/spirits/bourbon/small-batch-bourbon/watkins-select-bourbon/p/115780175?s=801&igrules=true

You could think that $33.00 for 1.75 liters means that it's firewater but it's pretty darned good.

A few shots of some of Hotglue's batch of bourbon aged in those casks from the GOTF a few years ago.  (the bottle is gettin pretty close to the end now)   I think it started as Evan Williams Bourbon before he tinkered with it,

Been tinkering with blending and aging my own bourbon the last year or so, having great fun with it. Remind me before GOTF and I'll try to remember to bring a bottle for you to have a sip of.

Tonight I'm slumming it and having a tipple of Two Gingers Irish Whiskey... Very light, understated, but not unpleasant (But definitely a major contrast to the Islay Single Malt I had the other night!).

I am thinking based upon my readings on this thread that I am NOT drinking enough and not enough of the HARD stuff you all drink..

I still remember as a 16 year old at my friends house breaking into the parents liquor cabinet and they all dared me to take a shot of I think 200 proof scotch of which being that age never had before.  I did a shot and darn near died right there of a heart attack was very strong.  They all laughed but never doing that again,  the VERY hard stuff does not agree with me even to this day.. coolsmiley

Mixed drinks like blackberry brandy/coke or rum and coke or girly drinks like sex on the beach or fuzzy navels or slippery nipples is more my style....   2funny  Good conversation piece if there is a HOT lady at the bar as well... Wink

OH, thats great stuff. One of my favorites.  Not many joints have it so one has to settle for Glen Livet or Jameson.
I can't wait to be able to sip a whiskey again. That'll be a joyful moment.

I rarely drink while "out", I've gotten to be a bit of a snob and most restaurants/bars don't have the stuff I like or if they do it's stupid expensive...

Many months ago Laphroaig had a Facebook contest to enter a slogan for 'em, and I entered mine, didn't think anything of it until months later when they contacted me, saying I'd won first prize (Sadly, not the GRAND prize, which woulda been a trip to the distillery on Islay) but  but was still quite cool...

They had a brand ambassador meet me at the local liquor store, presented me with a nice artistic print of the distillery with my slogan (It's like sucking on a campfire.), a bottle Laphroaig Lore, a nice Scottish Wool Cardigan with my slogan embroidered on the back, and a bunch of other things...

Really caught me off guard, but was pretty cool I thought!

Hope you get things settled to where you're able to enjoy the simple pleasure of sipping a quality dram at the end of the day soon! Sometimes it's what keeps me going through the day, looking forward to just having a relaxing quality tipple before bed...

I don't like the peaty ones. Too overpowering. Most of the chemical ones are too strong as well. ALTHOUGH my favorite tequila is Gold Cuervo. Aint palates funny things!

I like all that stuff.  When I drink at all, which is rare anymore.

Just give me John Jameson.  Smooth taste, reasonable price.

Funny.... Jameson is an Irish Whisky, but he was a Scott.
