I think the engine is capable of a lot more, and the cams would be easy

The cams I doubt would be that easy but the other mods that would be required to really balance and enjoy the additional hp if any would not be easy. I know guys that have put cams in the 1500 with some moderate success but the more I look at the 1800 the more I see a complete package that with any change will disrupt something else.

An example was opening up the baffles in the exhaust and not only was there no extra power but there was a loss in mpg. I really think that unless you are ready to strip it down and go through the time and expense to redesign almost the entire engine management and intake and exhaust systems that it would be a waste of time.

This engine package has been in design since at least 01 that means that Honda has had alot of years to perfect it. Not to mention cams really don't get you that much they mainly change where the power actually comes in. Also if you change duration you risk contact with internals or height may require porting and polishing plus an exhaust and playing with fuel.  I like the power fully in at low rpm it gives it a low end grunt and does not suffer on the high end either. It would be nice to have a superbike cruiser but I am happy with it just the way it is.

No....! uglystupid2  The motor is so damn well balanced...and develops enough power man....I'd like to see the governor gone...

Rob touched on something as well...as with the laws of physics....a gain in *something* is a loss in *something else*...The motor is a master piece the way it is..

You wanna feel a bit more power *and* get better mileage?  RUN CORN FREE FUEL!!

In the Guhl reprogram it does get rid of the governor, I'm not sure of the Power Commander.

Whether you're going 124mph (with governor) or 124+mph (without governor), you're still going to jail!  crazy2

I hear ya man...as the years advance on this dude of mine that only I know so well...so does the need for overt speed.  Bottom line I just cannot see as well as I use to...cannot pick out squad cars in the distance like I used to....Since I hold a CDL of which pays me my money...I cannot afford such a ticket...even a ticket under 20 over costs me $300!   Illinois knows how to extort money from persons like me...I hate it...

Its not always about top end speed but about how quick you can get there
