Finally got to test my fuel system mods today.

Jade has been parked since Nov. Got out today with the Colorado group for a ride, total about 240 miles. A good stretch with 100+ miles on the tank, at good speed - 85. Meaning the tank was low, and demand was high. Not a hitch. Did not get low enough to use the belly tank, but my concern was fuel gravity feeding with the tank low, after I reconfigured it including a fuel filter. I already know the fuel pump refilling the main tank works. I have not tested how the reserve function works. Don't know if the fuel will feed fast enough from the pump once it's already starving, or if I will have to use the reserve selector at the beginning while the fuel transfers. I am confidant now, the system is not going to starve for fuel and leave me on the side of the road. Like it did at first, on the first ride after the belly tank install.

i think i'd switch to reserve when the bike starts to fade and run on reserve while the fuel transfers to the main tank & then when you shut the pump off switch back to the main tank.... at least that is how i envision handling mine up when i get around to adding a belly tank.

I'm all ears, Mark. I want to duplicate your success. A little diagram sketch might be handy.

I'm pretty sure it was you I did this detailed description for, with photos.

I described the electrical at the link above, and in other posts. Search for "latch relay" with markt as poster, for connecting the Dan-Marc. Used the same relay wiring for the fuel pump relay and the bung solenoid, with their power sources and triggers described at the link above.

Found the reserve behavior yesterday

Hit reserve yesterday at 141 miles. It did not feed the fuel fast enough from the fuel pump - not surprised with the pump feeding the fuel to the main through the bung tube. Used the OEM reserve on the petcock for one minute. Then turned it back to main, by then the fuel level was high enough.

thanks again mark! looks to me like a guy could go well over 200 miles w/o having to stop for fuel... i like the thought of that... my only beef with the valk at this point in time is the range...

Got 37.7mpg on Jade today - I was at 162 still on main tank - that's with a lot of 75-80mph riding. At that rate, with the belly tank it's 279 miles to reserve and 313 to empty. Love it!
