Every once in a while, the red light water temp indicator flashes or stays on for a few seconds and then stops...everything normal. Why does this happen? I checked my fluid level and it seems fine...

Does the fan ever run?

If not...it could be overheating when it needs fan and cooling off when you get moving...

I ran into this problem years ago. I did a search on the Tech Board and found the solution to my problem. Let me search again to see if I can find it. You would think I would remember but alas my rememberer is not what it use to be.    uglystupid2

Found it. Check your fan like Daniel suggested. If it is O.k. try this fix it worked for me.

The temp light flashing on and off is a fairly common problem with your year. The fix is the indicator unit. It is located under the left side cover behind the coolant bottle. It worked for me. The part number below is from HDL, their link is http://www.directlineparts.com/  you want to scroll down and go to the OEM on-line parts. It is #16 on the microfiche.
