I am in the need of a new CT.  So far I have had a Michelin HydroEdge (too square side walls but got 30K miles out of it) and a Kumho Solus (more rounded edges but only getting 20K out of it).

I have looked at some of the options you folks have talked about.  But need more info.  Especially tires that have the 65 series.  I would like to know the mileage you are getting.

Like the Austin Taxi tire,  what mileage are you getting 20K, 30K or what?  Which tire did you get, the China made one?

How about others.

I know this is sort of a oil type topic, but need some info from you.  (

You may get few replies because this is one of the most discussed topics in the history of the forum. I would do some searching on darkside. That being said I'm having my 2nd car tire installed on Tuesday as per the recommendation of a few fellow riders. It's a Champiro VP1, it has a very round side profile. If its worked well for some of the other guys and that's good enough for me. My current Darkside tire is a Bridgestone Potenza G009, Great tire just looking for something a bit more feel like a bike tire.

Thursday I ordered a Laufenn G FIT will be delivered tomorrow. The Laufeen site has a dealer locator button. Discount Tire sells them so I stopped by the guy looked them up on his screen and said they don't come in 16's. I thanked him for his time went home and ordered one using Tire Rack it came in 16's and a choice of 60 or 65. I ordered a 205/60/16.

Champiro. Do a search on this Tech board for posts about the tire.

I have a Taxi tire its great but makes my bike to tall,I had to raise the shocks so it doesn't rub two up.

20,000 miles on it ,it took a lot of weights to balance it. I'm getting shorter each year.

Thanks for the comments.

I looked for the Champiro tire, but couldn't fine anyone that carried the 65 series.

The  Laufenn G FIT is out there in the 65 series and looks good.  One of the top two on the list.

The ATT is still at the top.   I am assuming that the only place to get it is the Universal  Vintage tire Co.???   Is this the one made in China??

I've run about six different CT's. Now on ATT on Jade, still a Vredestein on Deerslayer.  ATT currently the best IMHO for several reasons including most bike-like handling, great mileage at high cruising speeds due to diameter, long wear - haven't worn one out yet, or even showing wear that I can see in thousands of miles.  No bump steer like some others; handles best with high pressure - in my case 43#. I have no reason to try other tires at this point.

thanks for the input.  After looking at the two I mentioned above, flipped a coin and went with the Laufenn G FIT.  Some of the decision was based on $$$.

For now will see what kind of mileage I get out of this tire.   The Kumho tire I have on now didn't require that much counter-steering as the Michelin tire.  the Laufenn with more rounded shoulders than the Kumho should be easier to corner.  If it will get the mileage I want should work for me.  Gets here tomorrow.

Who knows, may go with the ATT next time.
