the bikes tachometer stopped working, and all the lights dimmed.  the radio that was installed never lost a beat.  got back to the house and it died.  any idea what it might be?  possibly the alternator?

There was a recent alt thread here Not that long ago. Also check the archives. How old is yer battery? ALL the grounds and battery terminals clean and tight? Good luck on the quest! RIDE SAFE.

Most recent here.

But you can find a lot when you search. We just had one where the bolt was loose on the battery.

Start with the basics. Check the battery, bolts tight or not, and a volt meter.

Start the bike, and check the voltage again. No increase, then no power getting to it from the alt. Check the dog bone fuse. Then the voltage coming off the alt.
