  The cabin (as Bon called it) in Rhinelander Wi. we installed s fire place that had a burn control. Load it up with as much wood as you can put in it after it is burning. It regulates the air to provide the max heat .
  I came in one day from about 15 degrees and the cabin was just shy of 90 degrees. She was comfortable , I was gaging.

Thank goodness the rest of the house cools off.
Have a long house 30 x 60 , so the bed room  is at the other end, so high 60's low 70's..

I felt like waffles this morning

Belgian Waffle recipe

What you need:
Hand or standing mixer
2 large bowls
good spatula
4 eggs separated
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
3 Tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
1 cup unbleached flour
pinch salt
1 cup milk

What to do:

Beat egg yolks till very light and thick. Add vanilla and melted butter.
Combine flour n salt add with milk to egg mixture.
Beat well !
In the other bowl beat egg whites till stiff.
Then fold in to batter gently.
Bake..
That's it .
Yes it is a tad intensive , but well worth it.

What did you top those bad boys with? I'm a maple syrup guy but I'm guessing you might be a fruit gal.

I'm a purest , 100% grade B  Maple ! 
Heck I  don't even put extra butter on them..

I do the same with pancakes ..
Well I do like a hand full of pecans in the middle on my  pancakes while they are cooking.

The sun came out today so I was able to make  caramels...
I'm still doing cookie doughs. I  make them all and  stick in the fridge..
Then bake all at once.

Growing up, my mom did a lot of baking, including all kinds of cookies (esp at Christmas).

To keep them from going stale, she'd put a chunk of banana (skin on) in the cookie can(s).

It kept them moist and chewy, but they all got a little bit of banana taste to them (worth it).

I made Samoa's for the first time .. Oh my gosh ..
A tad labor intensive but worth it .. Plus I use my homemade caramel in them..
They came out great  .. And not as sweet as the GS ones and that is a huge plus.

I normally do close to 28..  My heart just wasn't in to it.
Now to box up and hand out.

This years tree..
Yes not the normal decorations on a tree.
It just wasn't in me to wrap this year, so just the bows I made over the years
on the things I needed for the up coming new year...




Even have a Missiletoad.. it hangs on the tree now..

Mum would celebrate  EVERY thing..  She always made sure we got a taste of ALL holidays!

The only thing I  can think of  was a 'yote..

Felt like  it would  be  a  good day to  clean the  flue and  pipe...

The  flue  really wasn't bad. The  pipe  had  some crud .

And  the  stove  was cold, as  the  last few days  , I was only doing chill chasers.

    But with the  next round  of  what they are saying sub zeros coming up.

Just thought it wouldn't  be  a  bad  idea, for that peace  of  mind.

When I  have  a  real hot fire  going...

LOL Still need  to vac it, and  do my best  to get it back into place .
Not an easy task solo.. This  stove  must weight around 400-600 lbs...
I can only scootch it 1inch at a time..
Always  trying  to think ahead...

Coyotes been very active & vocal around here lately, they have Theresa a bit    freaked out.  She's seen & heard them near work too    
Couple years ago, a pack of coyotes surrounded her & Griz in the park nearby

Some people get a bit liquored up for the holidays and like to make a little firearm noise (esp New Years Eve, which some places I lived was like being in Beirut).  Course, if so, he'd probably have done it before.  You might check the local police blotter on-line (if there is one) and see if there are any relevant reports.

I used to load up a black powder revolver (powder and wad, but no slugs) to fire on new years eve.  Nice big boom and 5 feet of flame and smoke.  But given the times, I don't need any complaints or visits from the coppers.

I have no idea WTF he was a shooting at..
   He milks cattle around 4am..
So who knows what he saw as he was heading to work 2.5 miles up the road.
I know his boss , well and he doesn't take to drinking.. So I don't think that was it.


@Gig , Yeah Coy dogs  are the worst, as  they  are cross breed that are  not scared of people..
We ran  in to them in Oklahoma  a lot on the track..
The 'Yotes wouldn't go through the barns  they left that to the CoyDogs.
To snatch the chickens and goats. The 'yotes would help kill.

Now in  an apartment with electric heat.

OK Took TheBeast ! It was snowing to beat the band..

I said F*ck it we are going.. Had Gerbings pants, jkt liner and gloves on..

I was toasty.

Got all my errands' done ! I had a blast..

Of course folks thought I was nuts, But hey I only had 1 less wheel than them !

And 3 less than the trucks..  LOL 



It made for a great early BD ride !And the first ride of '25..

I never felt worried.. After all I have ridden in snow many  times on TheBeast.

I know what it can and can't do..
This was a cake walk for my Dragon..

That does sound like a great ride to start the new year! I've been told that I'm nuts a time or two out running errands on the Valk when its 35-40* (even by my wife!). As long as there was no salt or snow on the roads I would go.

4" of snow on the  ground, I hit the  plow   just where I  needed to run the  tractor,
Also hit the  ground  running this morning prepping for  a  storm . Had a lot to get done.
Before it started to snow, And got it all done  just in the  nick...

I'm as ready as I can be.  Everything moved out of the way.  Snow thrower, back pack blower, fuel, snowmobile suit (hat, gloves, boots), shovel, and Irish Whisky antifreeze. 

I see the Regan National planes overhead and think... man, Florida would be nice about now.

Have to always work in it .
So once I'm done working, the last thing I want to do is  play in it.

I did  make  a  huge pot of Chili today, It's  doing it's magic on the  wood stove
